Out of all the dine-in korean restaurants we've tried so far in Ottawa (which I know is quite limited and most aren't authentic- but that's not to say they aren't good): Alirang, Maht, Daldongnae, etc. This is definitely top tier AND we will be coming back. As a small business, they are generous with their refillable complimentary side dishes (which is so yum), the flavour HITS, and the service is so good and welcoming. They kept checking in with us, turned down the volume to the TV that we were sitting under, and kept refilling our tea. inside the restaurant is also quite spacious and has comfortable seating arrangements. It had cabbage, sweet potatoes and rice cakes shaped like tubes. It was delicious. I loved the soft and chewy rice cakes. The salads were mostly shredded cabbage with pickled radishes. The salad dressing, served on the side by default, was a tangy citrus dressing. I really enjoyed it and loved that it came on the side without me having to request it that way. The cabbage was crunchy and fresh. The rice was purple rice and tasted good. The kimchi was mild, crunchy and not too pungent. I liked it. The pickled radishes were good too, not too sour. Service was courteous and friendly. They make the food to order. I'm really hoping they add Japchae to the menu and they are able to make it without sesame seeds, since at most restaurants it's premade and covered in sesame seeds and I can never have it, lol. In's Kitchen is across from the University of Ottawa Henderson Residences and very close to the campus. I'm sure it's popular with the students. My suggestion is to wait for them to cool down a bit and eat them warm or room temperature. My toddler loved these, but I thought they were just OK. The Korean spicy fried noodles was the star of the show, although a bit too greasy for my liking, they did hit the spot. I really enjoyed their take on cooking tofu. I think they took deep fried puffed tofu, flattened it down and fried it with the noodles, where it resembled sliced pork. There was a lot of nice color to it, as well as a slight char, and the texture was amazing. Keep it mind, it was a tad greasy as well. I didn't care for the Singapore noodles. My hubby loves this dish, but said he's had it made better else where, so its all personal preference. I do like that you can customize a lot of the meals into vegetarian meals, so major kudos to that. The amenities (restrooms) were not very pleasant, as the trash cans looked as if they have not been emptied in a month (they were overflowing), and there was toiled paper on the floor. In addition, the floor did not look very clean.
