We tried the new location of maroo tonight . Fairly easy to find with lot of street parking around . I tried the cold soba with the bulgogi and it was excellent . Come here for their bulgogi they nail it . The dish has some sweet fresh pickled radish and the clear broth with icecubes was a different experience . Quickly getting to pros and cons Pros New location so fairly less crowded At the intersection so accessible Parking behind but if not street parking in Kent and Somerset Fasts servicespacious Cons Less of fusion more of Korean dishes Less dessert options Dishes we loved Cold soba , bulgogi , seafood soup , spicy udon seafood

A solid spot for lunch in Ottawa! Has a homey feel and delicious korean food. I opted for the seafood udon ($15.50). Comes with a choice of either Spicy / Teriyaki based udon made with Shrimp, Squid, Mussel, and Veggies Topped with Seaweed / Bonito Flakes. Served with our Homemade Kimchi. I got the spicy and it wasn't too too spicy. It was yummy! Dumplings just decent. I also got a hot green tea but the pot was strange - the stout wasn't long enough so the water kept pouring out.

Food is good. But the size is pretty big.so you can share it with your friends. kimchi Rice is spicy and salt. It is better if you like spice food. The fried chicken is also good. You can try. Service: very nice Environmental: small but quiet and clean

So delicious!! Korean/North American Fusion at its best! I discovered this restaurant completely by happenstance. One weekend, my husband and I were on our way to Pascale's for some ice cream, and driving there I spotted Kitchen Maroo, a restaurant I had never seen before. I made a mental note to look it up later. Turns out Pascale's wasn't opened that day (even though Google said they were open). I was so disappointed that we went out of our way to drive there and it was closed. But all was not for naught because I discovered the existence of Kitchen Maroo! So Kitchen Maroo just opened in July 2020, right in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic :( They sell Korean food with a Canadian/North American spin. So like Bulgogi Beef wraps, and Chicken Cutlet Sandwiches, also pasta dishes with Korean flavours. They also sell Korean Fried Chicken. I called in my order and went to pick it up. The lady on the phone was pleasant, and my food was ready when I arrived. I got the Beef Bulgogi wrap $12 and the Chicken Cutlet wrap $12. Both wraps came with a side salad with sesame dressing on the side. My husband and I shared the wraps, so we got half of each type. The Chicken Cutlet wrap was delicious! The meat was lean chicken breast and the breading was crispy and the meat was filled with flavour. The wrap also had cheese, lettuce and mayo in it. Too much mayo for my liking, but I think most people would not have that complaint. The Beef Bulgogi wrap was also good, it too had lettuce, cheese and too much mayo, lol. The beef was tender and flavourful, but a bit too sweet with too potent a soy sauce flavour for my liking. Nonetheless, it was good, just not as good as the Chicken Cutlet wrap in my opinion. The side salad was aesthetically pleasing and wasn't just iceberg lettuce, although there was a lot of iceberg lettuce at the bottom, haha. On top it had grape tomatoes, radishes, red cabbage and spring mix. I liked that the wraps were boxed in a cardboard box and not styrofoam. I plan to return to try the Korean Fried Chicken. The restaurant is very new looking and clean looking. Dine-in was open and tables were spaced far apart (we are still in Stage 3, which permits dining indoors for restaurants, but we just started the second wave of the Pandemic here in Ottawa, so who knows what's going to happen). They don't have a patio or outside dining. Street parking only, but there are side streets nearby, so finding parking wasn't a problem . I wish Kitchen Maroo the best of luck and hope they can ride out this Pandemic and stay in business.

This little family run business has hit all the right notes. I got the chicken sandwich and it was freaking delicious. The chef takes so much pride in his work and I gotta say the sandwich looked beautiful even in a take out box. They serve it with a side of roasted potatoes.... who does that? Yeah, they do! It was nice. I liked it. Oh was that not enough food for ya? Well here's a salad with a sesame dressing, delicious. I'm gonna head back to this place. If you aren't much of a 'big lunch eater', I would say that this order is big enough for two people to share.

Kitchen Maroo is a hidden gem on the Gladstone Ave. Although it has no outlandish appearance, the welcoming interior, delicious Korean fusion food and incredibly well packed takeout food would warm your heart in the coldest day of Ottawa winter.

The Korean fried chicken is one of the best in the city. The yang yum sauce is pretty great there

There's also a small public square with some benches outside that will absolutely be useful for busy summer nights. My recommendation is to grab an ice cream sandwich bar from one of the freezers where you line up to order - great textures, fresh flavours, and lots of fun. Easy to split with a loved one! Prices are a bit high, but Moo Shu sources local ingredients (with the names of local farms on the flavour signs!), and pays employees a livable wage. It's a great place to stop by and support, while trying a delicious new flavour. Their new location is absolutely a step up :)

I showed up around 9:00 on a random Tuesday and the place was impressively packed. The line was snaking out the door but it moved quickly. I've always been a huge fan of French Onion Soup, so when I saw a flavor called French Onion Scoop, I obviously had to get it. It's not good. The quality of the ice cream itself is top-notch (i.e. it's super creamy) but the flavor is just kind of gross. Plus there's a lot of sautéed onion in there and I think there's a reason onion and ice cream have never been combined before. I ate some of my cup but wound up throwing most of it away. To paraphrase Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park, Moo Shu was so preoccupied with whether or not they could make a French Onion Soup inspired ice cream flavor, they didn't stop to think if they should. (I should note I also tried a couple bites of their DunkaMoo's ice cream sandwich and it was really delicious, so obviously they are capable of making an excellent product.)

Ended up getting the pistachio and Dubai chocolate croissant. As for the drinks, we got the matcha and the Hojicha with espresso shots. They serve coffee from Hatch (which is probably one of my favourite back in Toronto). Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the croissants fresh but they were still tasted buttery and flakey. The flavour and sweetness was the right amount (perfect for my Asian tastebuds). The drinks were also really good! It was pretty busy inside but there's plenty of seating (might not be great if you want to chill and study but great for hanging out with friends). Service was good, staff is friendly and our order was made fairly quickly. I would come back and try other things on their menu if I'm ever around the area.

The Dubai Chocolate was decadent while the Pistachio Rose was nutty with a delicate taste of floral.

I was in the mood for a Sfogliatella (lobster tail pastry), so my husband and I went to Little Italy to get one. Pasticceria Gelateria Italiana has been around since 1979, but I had never been there before. They had a large selection of desserts and gelato. We took our pastry to-go, but they have some seating both indoors and on their raised front patio and street-level side patio. The Sfogliatella was $7.49 which is the most I've ever paid for this pastry. Fortunately, it was delicious. Very crispy and flakey on the outside and softer on the inside with a generous amount of cream. I prefer the ricotta cheese filling slightly more, but I like the cream filling too. It was light and airy and not too sweet. Service was efficient and pleasant. The shop has a one way flow, you enter one door and you follow the arrows and exit a different door. The area to wait for service is narrow, so this process prevents congestion and crowding. I like it. Great for the occasional treat, but a bit too spendy for me. (77)
