We hired Knight Construction this past summer to complete a total kitchen remodel project with…read morecustom cabinets, new hardwood fooring and the resurfacing an old brick fireplace with stone. We asked Knight if they could complete the work in just six short weeks as my family (my husband and three kids under the age of five) were moving into a small apartment for three months due to timing differences in our close dates. They accommodated the request with the caveat that the bulk of the work would be completed by move in and that finishing/warranty work may need to extend another week or two. Upon signing the contract, we immediately began working with Kristin, the designer, to ensure fixtures, flooring and other items were selected and available upon closing on the new home. The day after signing the close papers, the dumpster was delivered and Jeff our project manager began demolition with his crew. I won't tell you that the project was seemless in every instance and without a couple of minor glitches. But I can tell you that in ever instance, Gary and team worked with us immediately to either remedy the issue or help us find the best solution to accommodate our budget concerns and ensure our move in date wasn't jeopardized. Over the past 10 years, we have remodeled two homes and built a third. I have used three different Companies for each of these projects and I would without question hire Knight Construction back to do another project. Over the short few months we worked with Gary and his team, he always kept his word and remedied situations that weren't up to either his quality or ours, which were minimal. I appreicated the fact that three months after the project, I'm still able to call and ask him to look at something I think got missed in the warranty period. In both circumstances he's sent someone over within days to address my concern. I would recommend him to anyone. His work is quality and it's beautiful!

We had the exterior of our house painted by Paris Painting in 2022, and our 3-year warranty with…read morethem just ended. If you need something painted ASAP, they will get the job done, but if you want it done well I'd recommend finding one of the other well-rated painting businesses in town (they often have waitlists in the 1-3 year length!). We had purchased a home that was overdue for painting, so we had to get it done in 2022, and they did an adequate job at the time. Like other reviews have mentioned, Paris isn't a very detail-oriented company. The workers who were sent out to prep our house didn't know it had lead paint, so had to be reminded to take precautions with laying dropcloths, wearing masks, etc. (This happened essentially every time we had someone out to work on the house over the three years we've worked with them.) People have repeatedly come into our yard without warning to look at the site, one time leaving our gate open so our dog escaped. During the main work, the project manager was rarely on site. Hardware was put back on our house upside down (house numbers and shutter hardware). Workers often didn't know which colors went where. Once the paint was "finished" we had to call them back once if not twice to have someone come out and catch places that were not fully painted. But by the time they were finished in 2022 the house looked good! In 2023 the house still looked okay, but by 2024 the paint had begun to bubble and peel, mostly because the prep had not been done sufficiently. We had Paris out to look at the house in 2024 and they did a little bit of touch-up, but only in the very specific places I pointed out, and even missing a few of those. The places I pointed out were supposed to be examples of the overall issues. In 2025, with our warranty running out, we had them back out to do the touchups. Again the first time workers came out, they only addressed a few of the specific places I had highlighted, even though the majority of every exterior wall was peeling and needed work. Eventually I took 20+ photos of the most egregious issues and those were addressed. I can't remember how many times we've had someone out this season. We weren't fully satisfied by the final visit, but decided we'd had enough of dealing with them. I'm sure we'll continue finding issues-- we recently discovered that workers caulked our garage attic access door shut (?!) without us asking them to, so that had to be cut open again and damaged the paint once again. Basically, if you hire Paris, be prepared to serve as your own project manager. Without our repeated follow-ups the work would have been a 1-star or 2-star quality. As it is, I'd rate the experience as "okay."

Our painting crew and crew chief Tony, and our carpenter Toby, were helpful and meticulous in ensuring everything was repaired, primed, and repainted to our satisfaction. Toby even showed us how to internally disassemble the exterior sliding-door storm windows we have on a back sunroom, so that in the future I can better monitor and touch-up the external windowsill and vertical frame paint to prevent the need for window replacements over the next decade. The painting team's semi-gloss paint brand was matched well to our metal trim color and designed to guard against the Minnesota elements, while Toby's cedar woodwork was solid and precise -- so we're optimistic that Paris' 3-year work-quality warranty won't be needed to call them back into action. We appreciated the comprehensive and detailed estimate they provided for their carpentry-repair and painting, and their willingness to ensure their work was good quality and capable of indefinitely maintaining our house windows' and garage trims' structural integrity.

From the initial meetings and planning with Kory, to the day-to-day oversight of Chris - we have nothing but good things to say. There are always surprises when you're gutting someone else's build, so it was reassuring to have people on the ground who were knowledgable, experienced, and honest. Communication with Chris was great. And budget-wise, we ended up pretty close to where we expected to land. Yes, there were change orders; but they were almost always due to expanding the scope of the job -- and not because we were being gouged. We also really liked that RR has their own cabinet shop, and a crew who has been with the company long-term. Lastly, and people don't usually write this, but it's important: they're all nice guys. If you're doing a Twin Cities remodel, you should absolutely meet with Roberts.

We didn't want to replace it as it was costing so much already. What we got was one with that space but no access to our outlet. Also the cabinet over the stove was for a microwave/fan combo. When I called about I was told she couldn't do anything for me as we signed the contract approving it. Knowing what our plans were and what we wanted she should have brought it to our attention. 3) I don't think the kitchen designers are much like designers just sales people with measuring training. I was told to choose my tiles for a back splash. What I chose was very busy for my countertops. I have no experience in this kind of thing. Had she been a real designer she would have guided me something else.

We first met up with Tom ( the company President and designer), He measured the area, sketched up some drawings and we all discussed what we thought would be fun, great looking and functional. A few days later, he emailed us blueprints and we met again with another designer, craftsmen. We changed our ideas a few times more before coming up with what we decided on. We scheduled a build and they were very good about keeping to their installation date. A well experienced carpenter showed up and within one day had it all installed. The next day the countertop crew came out to measure and laser scan for the corian countertop. A week later that was installed - perfectly.... We had the black subway tiles installed and had a family gathering to show off our "New Wine Bar". It was a huge hit, everyone loved it. What a improvement to our new home. I would totally recommend Charles Cabinets to anyone who wants perfection.
