Really enjoyed this park as it was exactly what I was seeking today. I am about 6 months pregnant and in Tempe on business. Wanted to find somewhere to get a couple miles of exercise in and also see some beautiful scenery while feeling safe and not get isolated and in fear of stray animals or transients. This park was perfect. Lots of people, however all was spread out so it didn't feel like it was crowded at all and I still had plenty of my own space. Lots of tree shade to sit under and several different covered seating, almost cabana-esque, to sit in and/or fish. Paddle boats available and right by a recreational facility. I will definitely come back for some afternoon exercise through the week. If I were to move here, I would most definitely come back with the whole family to spend the morning/afternoon. read more

Very nice park and surroundings with a very easily trekked walking trail and thankfully open late (12am) plus good location boba is close and if your there during the day it's a short shot over to AZ mills mall. read more

This might quite possibly be one of the best parks ever in Arizona for littles. I think for parents it's the ample seating: THANK YOU Park People! And for kids, the TALL (safe) slides! Beautiful places to sit and picnic, long safe sidewalks for scooters, open spaces to walk your dogs, conveniently located restrooms, and play options for both little and big kids. Kiwanis park is a really good time.... whether you're out for a walk, taking a bike ride, or just sitting and relaxing by the lake. Biking up and down the hills can really give you a run for your money without even realizing it.. until it's too late :) Not that I know this from experience. I definitely don't give up. There are plenty of shelters and picnic areas that you can use if open or reserve. I always see birthday parties and events going on while I'm there. Another common sighting is people watching and feeding the ducks. I always stop to see the babies. There's so much to offer from basketball courts to green areas, playgrounds and picnic shelters. One of the activities I keep wanting to do but never remember is take a trip on the peddle boats. Someone remind me in a few weeks to do this. Or fall :) Most of the weekend days bring some type of festival or event that makes the park too crowded for me. Sometimes the teenagers playing at the basketball courts are too rowdy and sometimes the people at parties in the shelters don't watch their children that are running into my bicycle. It's a large green park. Well appointed for the kids. However there's not enough parking for those really busy weekends. Sometimes the city of Tempe holds special weekend events there and, of course, there are the holiday family gathering weekends (like Easter). After driving around and around for half an hour in the heat, don't be temped to park in an unauthorized zone even if it's a Sunday and there are a ton of other cars parked there. The city of Tempe has this $$$ making opportunity all scoped out. They swoop down and give out $115 tickets. The curbs dedicated to fire zones could fit the whole fire department there. There's no need for so much room dedicated to this when parking is limited on busy weekends. Emergency vehicles can always pull up onto the grass, and probably would anyway, if there was a huge emergency. read more

This might sound kind of kooky, but I'd actually like to meet the team that designed this park oh so long ago in the seventies. They did such a great job. There is something for everyone and it's so family-friendly. I've visited here three times so far and each time I saw families jogging together, friends paddling and biking together, a photographer taking pictures of the birds, ducks sleeping at night, left-over decorations from somebody's birthday party (clean up after yourselves, people!), picnic blankets and couples talking about serious things together, family BBQs, little kids running wildly and scraping their knees in the process... you get the idea. The park has a little bit of everything and plenty of open space so that nobody feels crowded. There was some kind of community play fair set up with loud music one afternoon, but it was tucked behind a hill so it didn't really bother. First time at the pond/lake and it wasn't bad at all. Caught a nice 23 inch 6 lb channel cat, that was released and waiting to be caught again! Pond didn't look like it had much fish but it was pretty loaded with bass. My friend hooked onto three bass but they released themselves. I come here to people watch. I mean it seriously would give a comedian some good material. With that said, I have been coming here for years for my annual picnic with my girl Jill C. They have really cleaned it up by redoing all of the Ramada's' and such. The park is very clean (although you had better bring your own soap of you go to the bathroom. Learned that lesson after our first trip) There are tons of activities you can do. We have watched numerous wedding photos being taken, a obscene number of picnics over the years. I am telling you, people watching at its finest. I enjoy coming and will continue to come as long as they keep up the great work! read more

Large park, good for walking and running. There were a lot of fishermen early in the morning while we were running and the different birds were fun to watch along our run. There are paddle boats available for rent - and we'll come back for that. There are different playground s and amenities throughout but we didn't use them. Lots of parking. It was clean and early in the morning city crews were there doing maintenance. Like many urban parks, there were a couple of transient/mentally troubled people, we weren't bothered by them, but like any park, anywhere, anytime, if you are by yourself running or walking, it's smart to be aware of your surroundings. Love this park, it's right across from my apartment and we take the dogs walking through the park all the time. There's always something going on here, and it's very clean. The lake is cute too! Love this little park, so do our dogs! Lots to do here, volleyball courts, softball field, soccer field, rec center with wave pool, cute lake with grills and fishing.
