Today, 2 lifeguards on the pool. No one on the kiddy area. Not a huge issue, except older kids sometimes take over the kiddy area and you have to stay right on top of your little ones to keep them from being knocked down. The staff is not very helpful. They won't even make change for the vending machines. The machines should take cards, but they don't. Bring food and drink if they allow it. I'm not sure if they do. Finally, I saw kids getting in trouble for jumping off the side sometimes other times not. Had them ask me if I had a swimsuit last time. Told me I HAD TO. HAVE a swimsuit to get in the pool. Saw some people 4 today that were swimming in street clothes. One woman had on pants. Another in yoga pants. Different lifeguards allow different things. Rules seemed to be unevenly applied.

Well maintained with the exception of one giant tree near the road that needs some grooming, this park is quite the small stroll to get outside from a busy work day or during one of the many events downtown.

This is a pretty big park with about 234 acres to explore. The most serene and tranquil part of this park is the lake that constantly whisks fresh breezes off of it while listening to the trees rustle in its wind. Within the park itself is a 2.6 mile concrete hike and bike trail that runs from the southern tip of the park at Fairway Avenue to the dam on the lake. There are public restrooms, a modular playground, basketball goals, drinking fountains, and many picnic areas. There are also 2 lighted baseball fields, 2 lighted softball fields, 3 lighted football fields, and an 18 hole disc golf course. Lake Wichita Park has the only model airplane landing strip in the park system.
