I maybe expected it to have grown in size or nicer surroundings. It's still pretty much a big field. Animals that they have are good. We held a Kangaroo and a monkey was running around putting on a show. An hour drive from OKC. They did have a nice kids play area with a slide. Update, we all ended up with a stomach bug the day after. Just please take hand wipes and then wash in restroom as leaving.

Elmer Thomas Park in Lawton, OK is not the most fascinating park ever…read more It was good enough for us back on July 26, 2025. My dog certainly appreciated it. We didn't stay here super long as I started getting anxious about the long drive back home. It's a public park. Free parking. There was a playground. A decent sized lake. Walking/running path. I stopped here mainly because the Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center is just a few hundred yards away. Go touch grass! Your brain and heart will thank you.

Next we fed the quail. I guess they are used to it, cause they came right to us. The coyote and bobcat were sleeping hard in the heat. The river otters were hilarious! They were having so much fun! Last was the bird named Simon. They said he talked a LOT, but was very shy around people. He did whistle a few times for us. This was well worth a visit, and we would go back just to feed the animals!

They had a baby white lion who was so cute and a young black panther who was so playful. We really enjoyed interacting with NiNi the hyena. I truly enjoyed this experience.

Before we even got the details from the kids, came some kind of defensive mother verbally attacking us, telling us her kids didn't do anything. Then she went to the front desk to tell them all about her angel kids and that they didn't beat anyone. We approached to share our side and we told by that mother that we were bad moms who should've watched our kids. The very defensive mom also mentioned she was friends with a manager, so I guess, it explains a lot. I didn't feel my kids were safe from the bullies, I was not save from verbal attacks, either. The manager came and never even asked us to tell her what happened, just asked us to leave. No one even asked if the boy who needed ice was ok. The place is alright, but you are required to make sure your kids don't get beaten because if they do - it's your fault they will say.

It's for everyone. There's just so much nice wide open room that you don't feel crowded here there's trash cans by everything where you could throw your trash away after you're done snacking or drinking or whatever you happen to be doing at the time but the nice thing about the Kidzone is it so wide open you can see everything now I cannot wait until summer to see how the little miniature splash pad is. They also have the tennis courts and a basketball goal for you to play basketball.

We've never made it to that section, because we can not get beyond the most amazing play structure I've ever seen. Made of wood, multi leveled, filled with twists and turns and shoots and ladders, there is no better place to bring a child than to an area where the can let their imaginations run free. One corner looks like a pirate's ship. Another area has musical elements built into the wood. The back corner is set up like a western town. There are swings and slides, and benches for the adults. Trees provide shade in a few spots, and the entire playground is within a walled area, keeping kids safe from the nearby parking lot. There is only one small problem with this park. It is tucked away on a street that gets little traffic, and so is not seen by people driving nearby. Because of this sad fact, it is underutilized. There simply aren't enough children to fill the play structure. It isn't easy to captain a ship by oneself, one needs a crew! Castle raids need armies! Covert missions need teams. I tell everyone I know about this wonderful park. My child is just a bit too old to truly immerse himself in this amazing land of make believe, but the right group of kids would bring this place to life! Greer park is on 38th Street, between Cache and Gore. It is almost, not quite, across the street from Jimmy's Egg. If I had younger children, I would spend all of my weekends at this playground, listening to them create the world around them.

We left earlier than expected because the kid just followed my niece where ever she went. There were also a few other kids, (parents unknown) that were actually putting their bodies into the basketball hops. The chairs/couches have stains all over them, and I can't say they look like they clean on a regular basis. All and all, it was something to do. There's just so many things to say that are wonderful about this gem. We were told at the visitor…read morecenter that it is the second largest visited refuge in North America. The bison are truly breathtaking. If you get the chance to see them sit and watch for a while. We were able to do some hiking and picnic. There's also camping and fishing and boating, but we didn't do any of that on this trip. We picked up lots of pamphlets at the visitor center, so we can come back again and try again. They have lots of help at the visitor center and are glad to answer questions. They also have a great little gift shop if you want to pick up a treasure or a Momento for your visit. We took the time to take the scenic drive up to the top of Mount Scott walked around, took lots of photos. We met people from all over the world up there. It was pretty amazing. I can't wait to go back and do some more hiking. We did stop on the side of the road to look at the Longhorn cattle. There are some of the original stock from back on the turn-of-the-century or release from the bloodline it's pretty neat all these things that you can do while you're here visiting I highly recommend it. It's a great adventure not just for families but just solo if you wanna get out and explore.
