It is one of the best priced and best value for money hotels in Tenby. I found the service to be very friendly, and the food very good. The rooms meet the required standards, and you want to try and get one of the rooms at the front on the upper floors, because the view is awesome! You can see the whole of South Beach leading down to Lamphey. You can also see the famouse Caldey Island where the monks live. For a friendly, entertaining and good quality stay in Tenby, I can reccomend the Belgrave Hotel, check out their special offers, they're a bargain!

For a crossing to Ireland from our part of the country, there's two options. We could take the…read moreovernight ferry from Swansea to Cork, or the less expensive, shorter trip from Fishguard to Rosslare. Really, it's swings and roundabouts, for any savings we'd have made on the shorter route would be eaten by the extra miles we'd have to drive. But, we chose the Fishguard route anyway, for that way, we'd see more of the country. We arrived in Fishguard in plenty of time for the ferry; in fact, we only had to wait 20 minutes to check in. And, when we had checked in, there was a considerable wait before we could load. But, here was a cafe, with free wifi, where I had a very nice beef pasty for lunch. Normally, I'd have said there was too much pastry in it, but it was so moist and slightly sweet, it wasn't a problem, The crossing itself was rather lively. The ship had to deal with high winds and rough seas, but we didn't feel too much discomfort, although moving around the ship was a bit of a problem. Not that there's much to see, anyway. We found comfortable seats, in which to play with the free wifi and the MP3 player, read and go to sleep If I had one teeny complaint, it was that the music over the loudspeaker was a little too loud.

The main bedroom though was a bit dusty in places but other than that there were plenty of towels and the bed covers and pillows were lovely and clean. One massive thing for me is the bed, it's hard to find a hotel that has a comfy bed but this one had one! Also it's in a great location, right next to lidl, asda, tescos, wilkinson and has a lovely pub about 2 minutes away from it! I don't remember the name of it but it has scaffolding out side it! After a less than satisfactory experience at the Bristol Travelodge (see previous review), the…read morePembroke Dock branch was a welcome relief. Check in was straightforward, and our room was warm and comfortable, with a spotlessly clean bathroom. It was also quiet. You don't get luxuries in Travelodge hotels, but the room had all that we needed for our one-night stay. This Travelodge seems to cater mainly for people travelling on the ferry, so although they don't do a cooked breakfast, you can buy a breakfast bag containing cereal, a hot drink and a smoothie, which is handy if you have an early start. There were some other vending machines in the foyer too. The receptionist was extremely helpful throughout our stay and gave us some useful local information. There isn't a great deal in Pembroke Dock itself, so we drove into nearby Pembroke where there were a few takeaways and restaurants. One point worth mentioning was that the hotel car park - which is free - was quite full, so if the hotel is at peak capacity you may struggle to find a space. We paid just over £50 for the night here, which was a bargain for a comfortable room and a quiet night's sleep!

There is a smallish car park to the side but if you are coming from the town it is a few hundred yards so you don't need the car. I can get very busy at times but it welcomes people from all walks of life. They didn't bat an eyelid at people coming in in walking gear or those who where dressed to the nines. There was a main menu, a summertime menu and a kids menu. There were some interesting items on the menu but most of it was fairly standard fare. We ordered a pizza for our daughter fromthe kids menu which was a very decent £2.99. It consisted of a 7 inch pizza, chips and beans. The pizza I would say was of the frozen variety rather than home-made but there was a generous portion of chips with it. My partner and I both ordered the curries. There were two on the menu, a medium to hot and a mild to medium. We had one of each. They were accompanied by boiled rice and chips and a small portion of mini poppadoms. My partner also got a little dish of mango chutney with his but I didn't, I don't know why. Both meals were absolutely delicious. We followed up with two knickerbocker glories and a clotted cream cheesecake. The cheesecake was fabulous but my daughter and I were disappointed with the knickerbocker glories. It said fresh fruit but the fruit was obviously of the tinned variety and a little bit too much of that too. I had a coffee which was delicious and my partner had a pint of Reverend James which he said was spot on. The prices were reasonable at £7.95 for the curries. The restaurant is in a conservatory type wing of the hotel and is very modern and clean with arty photos of local places and things on the wall. Enjoyed it so much that we went again a few nights later. Can't comment on the hotel facilities though as we weren't staying there.

We frequented the bar a few times as the drinks were reasonably priced. I had a few meals here and I would put them a notch above the standard pub chain offerings. Portions were fair but you could tell sauces were straight out of a packet. The burgers are worth a punt though as they are sourced locally using the excellent welsh beef. On the whole I cannot be too critical as the price for a meal was perfectly reasonable and service was friendly. There arent many lunch time eateries in St David's so you should be on to a winner. Whatever you do dont be lazy and opt for the Dyfed Fish and Chip Bar further into the city as I had the worst meal I have ever had in my life there. I cannot comment on the hotel rooms as I was not a resident.
