An Alto Sax Disney Songs book my son chose
    Alvin F.

My 10 year old son at the time was learning the Saxophone at school. He enjoyed playing so much that we decided to find a place where we can buy a Sax. We honestly had no clue where to begin, so we started off at a large chain guitar store, thinking they should have all kinds of instruments... well that was a fail. They had none in store, they said they would need to order it online from their site and cannot be returned without a restocking fee once placed. Plus the employees didn't really know anything about Saxophones, which I guess is understandable. Anyways, I remembered that a friend of ours took their grandkid to Kline Music for lessons. So we decided to drop by and check it out. At first glance from the outside, I was doubting this place would have any Saxophones. Well, the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" definitely applied here. As we entered, we were greeted by employees and asked if we needed help. I didn't know anything about saxophones, except that I knew we wanted to surprise my son with one. He showed us a few options varying in price. He then told us about Klines "Rent to Own" program. I didn't know that instruments had such a program. This definitely helped us with selecting a better saxophone at a monthly payment that we can afford. Another nice thing about the program is that we can cancel any time without penalty. This was helpful if, for some reason, our son wanted to move on to another instrument. Fast forward 8 months later, he is still playing the saxophone. We came in today because my son had a few questions about cleaning his saxophone. The young gentlemen took the time to explain to my son the different tools from the cleaning kit. Since we were there, my son decided to check out a few Alto Saxophone books. It was awesome that Kline has so many books for all different instruments. It was well organized and my son was able to find some books that caught his attention. If you are looking for anything music related, definitely stop by Klines. The employees are very helpful and knowledgeable, and the quality of the instruments they carry are great.

    My new friend.

The neighborhood is also very SAFE so I never worry about leaving the club around closing time (9 PM). It's also open seven days a week from 8 AM - 9 PM! This clubhouse is on the smaller size but I enjoy coming here since it's close to my house and everyone is always so friendly! You can rent the entire place out for holiday parties, birthdays, work gatherings, etc. It's usually cheaper during the weekdays versus weekends. They have a nice sized dance floor and their kitchen is a big as well! In high school, my friends would host various dance and graduation parties here and they were always a lot of fun! Overall, this is a great place for families to come and spend some quality time together! It's also good for those looking to get their swim on!! I love the pools here and they always manage to keep everything pretty clean and chlorinated! :) If you don't belong to a gym and are looking for something fun to do this summer definitely look into joining Park Terrace---especially if you enjoy swimming and/or tennis!

Adj: Treasure Trove of Yummylicious Yarn and More!…read more Another incredibly special and quite exclusive store in Sacramento that I somehow have only visited once or twice long ago, and which I've not really appreciate until now. I'm so glad that I have finally paid a meaningful visit to Rumpelstiltskin Yarn Store recently. Rumpelstiltskin, located on the R St corridor, is quite a long-standing establishment in Sacramento that has been providing the Sacramento fiber art community with supplies and knowledge for over 50 years! Rumpelstiltskin sells a wide selection of high-quality yarns, fiber art tools, and other supplies for crocheting, knitting, spinning, and weaving, so there's definitely a great variety of products offered here for various interests. Perhaps because the skill level of my two fiber art hobbies, crocheting and knitting, are quite elementary and have not improved much over the years, I've so far had all my yarn needs met at the more conventional arts and crafts stores of the big box variety. But as I am getting more serious about my yarn hobbies, I'm now interested in finding stores that offer more specialized products and even provide classes that will help me improve in my crafts skills. I am also looking to connect more with the fiber art community in Sacramento because my venture into joining that community so far has shown me how warm and welcoming fiber artists are and it is totally possible to learn from seasoned hobbyists and pros/teachers if one puts their mind to it. I've even connected with some very local yarn enthusiasts at my local library and I'm sure they all have visited Rumpelstiltskin. On this visit, I saw lots of exclusive brands and types of yarn made of much better material than I'm used to using. From basic wool to more specialized Merino, Alpaca, and Shetland, there were many different kinds available. One I particular liked was the cashmere wool which felt heavenly. I learned that Rumpelstiltskin makes it a point to partner with fiber farms and other small boutique fiber suppliers to source yarn and other fiber products that are not only exclusive, but that are truly local and US-made as much as possible. Rumpelstiltskin even shares the stories behind each brand they carry and even hosts "Farm to Needle" events to introduce some of their thoughtfully curated products that are specially selected for their quality and uniqueness. As such I noticed that the prices of their products are definitely several times higher than that of regular arts and crafts stores, but again Rumpelstiltskin sells really high-quality yarns and supplies. I did not have any questions for staff during my visit, but I saw a class taking place and noticed that besides the looks of concentration, it was smiles all around as everyone was really enjoying their class, so I'm also going to look into taking a class or joining in one of Rumpelstiltskin's events. Just from a quick glance at their website, I see offerings of beginner's knitting classes for adults and kids, an embroidery intro class, a felted slippers class which sounds super interesting and practical, a sweater class for those who are ready for bigger projects, and even basket coiling, spindle spinning, spinning wheel, and weaving classes. Besides the classes that have costs associated and private lessons for those who want 1:1 instruction, there are also monthly and periodic free knitting circles for kids and social stitch events. I did not interact with staff today, so I can't speak on customer service, but maybe on a future shopping trip, I'll hopefully be helped if needed. In short, Rumpelstiltskin really is a wonderful staple in the Sacramento community for fiber art beginners, hobbyists, and pro-level enthusiasts alike and I'm so glad I know more about Rumpelstiltskin now so I can feel comfortable to come back for higher-quality yarn and supplies for more serious projects as well as for classes and events to connect with our local fiber art community.

Phenomenal service. The staff today put a lot of effort in finding a gift card that my email…read moreaccidentally deleted. On top of that, I've been coming here for years and been met with nothing but experienced, thoughtful interactions that help me to complete my projects! Independent yarn stores are a dying breed. I urge you to support your local economy and put your money in the pockets of REAL people, not Joann, not Michael. Rumpel FTW

Ginger Wong is an amazing makeup artist, but she's also a lifesaver. I had a bikini show coming up…read moreon Saturday and two days before the show, the people who were supposed to do my makeup called and told me they didn't have space - I was screwed. How was I supposed to do my makeup with my fake dark show tan? I didn't even have those colors in my day-to-day makeup bag. I had heard of Ginger Wong or Transformations Makeup from Mellisa Paul at Sac & Co and thought I would give them a try even if it was last minute. Ginger told me she was going to be out of town on the day of my show, but she didn't give up on me. Instead she went out of her way and agreed to meet me the day before to teach me how to do my own makeup for the show. I emailed her photos from previous shows so she could see the look that was needed and how dark my spray tan would be -- and she took it from there. The day before the show, she was extremely patient during my lesson and re-applied my makeup until it was exactly how I liked it, then showed me how to do it myself. Because I'm picky this process took a couple of hours, but Ginger didn't care. She said that we would do it until I was comfortable. She wouldn't be happy until I was happy. She also had me bring in my own makeup and brushes to see what I already had, but anything I didn't have (and liked) she had there for me to purchase from the Muse line that she uses. No pressure to buy at all which was nice. I was able to mix a little of my current makeup and only bought the stuff I needed. I was very impressed with the customer service I got from Transformations Makeup and how they went above and beyond to try to help me out of my sticky situation. I now know how to do my own show makeup, but more importantly, I know I can trust them to do a good job with my makeup for any special event I have in the future. Ginger Wong and her makeup artist team at Transformations Makeup really are the best professional makeup artists in Sacramento.

I am writing this to warn other parents about the lack of basic safety supervision at this facility…read moreand their inability to take accountability. My 4-year-old daughter is a capable swimmer who just transitioned from private lessons to a group class here. On her very first turn, the instructor directed her to swim to the steps and then completely turned her back to focus on another child before my daughter reached safety. She did not yet have a grasp on my child's level of ability, or her confidence in this new environment. My 4yo went underwater, panicked, and was left unassisted sinking in the water. Completely losing visual contact with a swimming 4 year old is a massive safety failure. She spent the rest of the lesson sobbing and frightened after that event, and now does not want to return to swim after months of joy and success doing it. When I brought this to management via email and phone call, they refused a refund of the annual registration fee and of the remainder of our lessons since the last lesson was less than 7 days away. Instead, they would only offer a class transfer, and even shockingly suggested we put her back with the exact same instructor to "push through" the fear- totaling $160 for our scary experience. I understand their policy dictates no refunds, but policy should not override accountability when a child's safety is compromised. We will not be returning. I strongly urge other parents to look elsewhere if you want a program that guarantees eyes on your young child while they are in the water.
