Eventually a second student hopped in and helped bleach and foil my hair. I was there for about 4 and a half hours total, and the second part of the toning and washing/ blow drying had to be a little rushed since I was on a time crunch. Both of these girls stepped in and I felt like I had VIP service! They each took half of my hair and team worked their way through. Friendly vibes from everyone though you could tell some students were more confident than others. It was also great pricing, only $97 before tip, for my whole head of hair! Mr. Greg, Jeremy Federico, and all of management always have the students' best interest in mind, and that I can tell you firsthand. I was also surprised that she asked multiple questions to the instructors, knowing this process hasn't been done in awhile, they had to dig in the cupboards for the product, and not once did they check in to see what the student was doing. I was very impressed with the organization and structure of the salon. It looks and feels like a real salon with a receptionist check-in, stylist stations and comfy chairs. The students to a one looked dedicated and professional as they went about their work. There are a number of instructors on the floor who check in with their students and offer support during the client consultation, as well as checking progress at a few key points during the process. The details: You can sign up to get a variety of hair services (cut, blowout, color, highlights, updo, etc.). from senior cosmetology students from March/April with morning or afternoon appointments. You can book online or call the program for more details. If you aren't a student or staff member on campus you will need to get a day parking pass ($2) which are only available from certain kiosks on the surface student parking lots. There is plenty of parking, especially in the parking structure, but no kiosk there which I found to be a bit crazy. Check out the Los Rios college website parking info. I have had my hair cut at very high end salons and I can say that this was far better than those experiences. It was special to see the energy and positivity from my sibkid and their classmates. The stylist who did my haircut was wonderful. She didn't need direct supervision, but I felt like I was in good hands. She was so sweet and pleasant to chat with. She washed my hair and explained everything she was doing. The haircut itself didn't take too long, and it came out how I wanted. She was very great at listening and also making suggestions. The environment itself isn't like your typical salon. Since it is a school, all the students are around, either working with clients or working on other things. There's a lot happening everywhere.
