I see Dr. Kara Keaton - She is wonderful. Straightforward, just the right amount of concern, easygoing and empathetic. She performed a coposcopy/ cervical biopsy on me earlier this year and during the actual procedure we were joking and laughing -in between her preparing me for a pinch here and there. And I didn't have any of the negative symptoms one could expect after the procedure. Also, Dr. Keaton gives the most unobtrusive pap smear ever. EVER. It's mind-boggling. If you have a weirdly positioned cervix or you've really felt your pap in the past - book an appointment. I can't stress enough how I walk out of that office dazed from how euphemistic the whole experience was.

At the age of 16, I was terrified of this experience but Dr. Spiro literally held my hand through the entire process. Although she did not have her license transferred to CT in time for my surgery, she still stayed with me as her colleague performed the operation. Since then, I look forward to visiting the CT Women office. I'm healthy and happy and sad to be leaving the state because I worry about finding another OB GYN experience as positive as this one. I am writing this review to make prospective patients aware of a policy within this OB/GYN practice…read morethat many women may not realize exists unless they are asking questions. I need to have uterine polyps removed, a relatively routine gynecologic procedure. Because the procedure requires anesthesia, I contacted the office before scheduling an appointment to confirm that I would have an all-female surgical team. As a woman who will be unconscious, unclothed, and unable to advocate for myself during the procedure, this is an issue that is extremely important to me. Frankly, I would have assumed that this was the case for all patients to ensure their safety, comfort and dignity. The office later called me back, and I spoke with someone named Jocelyn. I was informed, in what I perceived to be a rather dismissive and condescending manner, that they could not guarantee that male staff members would not be involved in my care. When I expressed my concerns, I was told, "Well, they are medical professionals," as though that somehow eliminates the risks associated with a woman being unconscious, unclothed, and unable to defend herself. What was particularly troubling was that she took it a step further and told me hat my request for an all-female surgical team constituted "gender discrimination." I disagree. Requesting that I feel safe and comfortable while under anesthesia is not discrimination; it is a personal healthcare decision. Cases involving misconduct toward sedated or anesthetized patients have been well documented (and imagine what goes unreported!!) and every patient has the right to consider those realities when making decisions about their care. According to our own government (source CDC.org) 46% of women have experienced some type of sexual violence towards them. One would think that given 1 out of 2 of their patients has likely experienced something like this they would be prepared to field questions about how they are keeping women safe, but instead, it appears they are trying to bully them into submission by telling women it is "gender discrimination" to want to feel safe while unconscious. It is disappointing that, in 2026, a medical practice would appear more focused on discouraging these concerns than on reassuring patients and explaining the safeguards in place to protect vulnerable individuals during procedures. Patients deserve transparency about who may be involved in their care and should be able to ask questions about their safety without being dismissed or made to feel unreasonable for doing so. The fact that someone is a "medical professional" does not eliminate the possibility of misconduct. Unfortunately, there have been documented cases across the country involving inappropriate behavior toward sedated or anesthetized patients. While one hopes these occurrences are rare, but they do occur, and every patient has the right to make informed decisions about who will have access to their body while they are unconscious. Either way, women should be demanding more from their "women's healthcare" providers. Thankfully, I did find a provider that makes sure women are safe in such conditions, but clearly this office does not care and patients should be informed.

Their communication between departments is awful, had us run around Manchester hospital in severe pain because the ER and family birthing center kept sending us back and forth, literally made us walk. Then comes the maternity/paternity leave they will not fill out the forms for more than 6 weeks so you can not get the full 12 weeks allowed by CT law. Management will not call you back either when you ask to speak to them. If I could award zero stars I would. Worst experience with supposed professionals I've ever experienced.

While trying to schedule an appointment I asked for the soonest one, they almost made me drive an hour away for a male provider when my mom asked if there was any openings today and they said they would check and there was one with a female provider in Manchester, why wouldn't they say that in the first place? When I came in for my IUD removal I was very nervous having this condition, not to mention it took 3 doctors and 3 different appointments to even get the IUD inside in the first place because my cervix was too small. The person taking my IUD out, pulled, it was extremely painful, I thought I was done, but no, it was stuck, she pulled again before I could even speak and I started crying. When she went to pull a third time I screamed in pain thinking that would be a signal to stop because I genuinely can't speak at this point. She did not stop, she continued. I would have much rather had that IUD surgically removed because it's only in the space of half a uterus. Afterward, only a couple minutes after, I still could not speak and she kept pushing asking what other form of birth control I wanted. I was barely conscious. After I made a quick almost mindless decision, she left and came back and said "hey so not to rush you but you're the last patient here and everyone wants to get home" meanwhile I will pass out if I get up. No sympathy or anything, also she did say "oh everyone responds to pain differently" I felt incredibly invalidated, I'm never going back, I'm finding another obgyn two hours away if I have to. I went through 4 weeks of intense depression and she suggested an abortion to "fix it" and then referred me to a mental health clinic without my consent and also weren't booking appointments. I was able to see my normal doctor at the next appointment and she was great. However I found everything transactional and lack communication for next steps. The last doctor I saw was super rude and threatened to call DCF on me because I told her I can't do bloodwork right now but I can come back to do it. Since then the office discharged me and had to keep care while I found a new provider. They were super rude after I started having complications with the pregnancy and told me it wasn't an emergency. Beware of this office. If you ask questions or nervous about the whole process, they will fire you and ignore any health related issues that come up with pregnancy.

I called first thing and was told they allow a 15 minute late period. I arrived exactly 15 minutes late only to be turned away from my appointment because I had reached the "15 minute mark." So technically, they don't give you a 15 minute grace period. It's actually 14 mins and 59 seconds. So if I arrived at 8:24 they would have seen me. Although, I'm not sure how much difference 1 minute would have made, especially when they routinely run late and don't have the courtesy to let patients know. And are we allowed to cancel because they run late? Nope! They clearly don't respect patients time. They also see patients every 10 minutes. Perhaps giving more time for appointments would prevent consistently running late. I'm not sure how doctors can provide the best care possible if they're given such a short amount of time. I'm sure it is set up like this to capitalize the most amount of money as possible. I would like to see their policy in writing, but couldn't find it online. Having worked in healthcare for 10+ years, I have never experienced this and have also shown grace to my patients who run late through no fault of their own if it is not a repeated offense. The receptionists are rude and don't care. I have gone to appointments to find them eating at the desk. And when you call to speak to someone it sounds like it's a call center and your not speaking to a person at the actual office, so you never know who you're talking to. The healthcare system sucks and the people who work here suck too and your "policy" is bullshit. If you've read this far, then do yourself a favor and find another office.
