The day after we left on our trip Lani called us saying our dogs had been in a dog fight with HER dog. Lani, without our knowledge or permission brought her dog into our home and in our back yard where our dogs got into a fight with her dog over their bones. If I had known in advance, I would have taken another day and taken her somewhere else. It was horrible. She was still aware, trying to hold her head up, and cried in pain from the final iv push. Now I will have to go on hearing that in my head for the rest of my life. She was not suffering when we entered the building but that caused her suffering and she cried in extreme pain. Now I am suffering as well. I went in that day expecting her to be put to sleep peacefully and never to experience any pain or suffering. They should let us know in advance that they don't practice what everyone else does. I'm in complete anguish and despair over this. Not putting them to sleep first is not common practice and is inhumane.
