Now I haven't been attending it 61 years..lol....but I have for 5 years or so! The festival is sponsored by the community and everyone pitches in to help! They have people making apple butter, quilting, sheep shearing, candle dipping, maple syrup making, broom making, etc. The churches has food for sale-loaves and loaves of fresh hot bread, apple butter, sour kraut, kettle corn then in cafeteria hot (real) pancakes/maple syrup, summer sausage, rich cottage cheese, many fresh pie slices, coffee, etc. outside of the barn (where most of the crafters are) has working farm demonstrations for the public. Nice festival and tradition to visit!

Not a lot to choose from, plus what was available was pricey (but why not, no one to compete with). There were stands with plants, flowers, honey, pastries, meats, etc. but for heaven's sake we're in West Virginia in late June-- PRODUCE!!! I didn't expect sweet corn yet, or local tomatoes, but cukes, lettuces, summer squashes, the stuff that the locals are growing in their own gardens. I haven't been here in a couple of years, and am giving this farmers market a hard pass from now on.

This is THE farmers market to go to when you need just about any sort of produce. Or something…read moreextra... but the regulars are Simmons, Janoskis, "the farm family", near Wood street bakery (fridays) and Pitaland,who have a fantastic variety of produce/herbs/plants, "the older guys" down towards the kettle corn (this doesn't arrive till June) Then you have food vendors- like Acou try Style Pizza, shaved ice, local honey, Coyne Family meats, the fudge lady, etc sorry I cannot name them all! Fridays only in May, then Things start rolling in June-August. Best part, this goes until November; it's covered, mostly enough parking except be prepared when corn season hits. Last Friday, the first market, Janoskis brought, French carrots, fennel, Sorrel, plants, tons of lettuces and cabbage- just to name a few. The AMAZING wood Street Bakery had their fresh breads, cinnamon rolls- so much good stuff that's hard to choose! And a new vendor came selling beautiful tulip bouquets. This has been a family favorite stop for over 20 years that we've lived nearby.

We only picked up a few veggies and fruit, all fresh and crispy, though one of the ears of corn we got had some smaller kernels compared to the rest of the bunch. Also managed to get some baked items, some gifts to take home, plus freshly cooked chinese dumplings! Besides the fresh veggies, these were a highlight considering there isn't much local asian food to choose from and definitely some of the better made dumplings I've had. Not too salty and not too oily. Great place to pick up a quick dinner or some last minute veggies.

When my wife and I walked in, we were greeted with friendly smile and the clerk was extremely friendly and personable. It felt like talking to a nice friendly auntie and she clued us in on a lot of the sights here and there. She also gave us a good recommendation for their pies.
