We walked in and found this farmer's market with the delightful, little hole-in-the-wall, Cider Press restaurant, in the back of the store. The farmers market section up front is small but full of beautiful, fresh produce along with many, many other things and especially, pies that are to die for. The Cider Press, in back, is fabulous. The servers are very friendly and efficient. The food is great and mostly local. We have been back several times and have never had a less than great experience. Now, we make it a priority to stop in every time we are in the area. Highly recommend!

Enjoy picking your own apples or choose from several varieties in the store, picked in season as they ripen. Have a picnic while the kids play on the equipment in the play area. Choose your pumpkin. Try the delicious fresh cider and the fresh fruit slushies. It's all good. Their apple cider donuts are legendary. Lots of parking. Not far out of town. I wish my own hometown had a place like this.

The orchards have several apple varieties, are well maintained and easy to navigate. The price is quite reasonable, you pay by choosing between three sizes of bags to pick the apples. They have picnic shelters and several playgrounds for kids that are free. Kids can also participate in a tractor ride in individual cars that are pulled by a riding lawn mower. We didn't see a full size tractor ride however. If you come hungry, try their apple cider donuts, slushies and ice cream. All of it is really good!

Plus, there was a little donkey out back for us to pet while my wife took the goods out to the car - a good time was had by all. A good time, that is, until my son and I were accosted by the proprietor - she seemed to imply that we were not welcome, either because she thought we would steal something or perhaps that we were loitering. I told her we were with the lady who just purchased a bunch of stuff, but the more I thought about it, the more upset I got - I'm still upset (obviously). One might think this is supposed to be a good-vibes kinda place - that's the whole country store schtick, but... no good vibes were to be had that day. At any rate, all the stuff turned out to be really good - but the dog treats had an extremely unfavorable look - kinda like ground up tires. Regardless, we won't be returning.

There was only one food/farm vendor (probably because it's February) but she was very friendly & helpful in explaining the history of the neighborhood and had a diverse selection including leafy greens, root vegetables, baked goods, 100% juices, apples, frozen berries, Alaskan salmon, and eggs for which I learned they reuse the cardboard cartons that otherwise would cost 35 cents each! I bought olive bread, pumpkin bread, eggs and a bottle of 100% blackberry juice. Next time I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely stop by. Becky told us the fujis would probably be gone by early November so we went the weekend before…read moreHalloween. They were nice and sweet. This was our 3rd year in a row to make the long drive specifically for the fujis. We picked up 10 boxes or bushels. At $20 a box it's worth the drive for the 40lbs of apples. I'm not sure what kind of fujis these are but they have come out more green than red though they are still sweet, crispy and delicious. I learned that they can come as green as a granny smith. Becky explained to me that it was a Fuji apple that had been taken from the center of the tree where it doesn't get any sunlight. She even cut it open and sliced a piece for us and had the same crisp texture but no sweet taste. Things to know before coming here: - They hand pick the apples and place them into big wooden crates. You take from the crates. You don't pick them from the tree. If you want to pick your own apples, you will be refered to another farm a few miles away. - You aren't allowed to pick or rake through the apples. You are only allowed to pick from the top. If you find badly bruised or spoiled apples you can put them aside where it'll be put in a bin for juicing or fed them to the cows. - You may be instructed to pick from one crate until it's finished before starting a new crate. - They are hand picked from the trees and not processed or coated with wax like you would find at the grocery store. The fujis may not look like store quality apples as they aren't perfectly round, symmetrical, or uniformly sized, but they certainly are pretty damn tasty and certainly worth the price. - they aren't coated with wax so you'll need to take special precautions to keep them cool and humid but not wet.

We moved to the area about 2 months ago and have been there probably a dozen times ... they have a separate, wonderful grocery store which is quite unique.
