As a bigger girl, I do not recommend. The staff weren't rude to me, but I felt a bit of that 'what are you doing in here' vibe. I will say the lingerie they have is very very nice. And it would want to be for the price. Some of the garments cost more than I would spend on my groceries for a month! Basically, if you are smaller than a size 12 with lots of money to throw around, this might just be heaven for you. If your not, well, avoid.

I'd recently decided to grow up and get myself some good luggage, and as much as I love online shopping, if I was going to drop a grand on a couple of suitcases I wanted to see them in person first and ask a zillion questions, so off to Strandbags I went. Located in the thick of things on the corner of Bourke St Mall & Swanston, ground level has handbags / small backpacks etc, and the basement level is where the travel magic happens. Stocked within an inch of the spaces life, here is where you find enough luggage porn to suit the pickiest of picky travellers, including brands like Samsonite, American Tourister & plenty of cheaper luggage sets for those that don't want to shell out big bucks. You'll also find accessories like travel pillows, power adapters etc I visited a few times to ask questions before making a decision on my purchase, and every visit the staff were friendly and helpful, but not pushy. So I went to Strandbags in the Bourke St. Mall to see if I could get something like that. With two floors of bags, handbags, wallets, suitcases and backpacks there was plenty to choose from. It wasn't difficult finding what I was looking for, as there were some on display in the shop window.

There are heaps of designer clothes that go for next to nothing but a lot are priced quite high so be prepared if you get that feeling of, "I have to HAVE this", you might be digging deep into your wallet. I like how big it is and I think it's getting even bigger because last time I went there it looked like a space had been made for a furniture section. So if this does happen then it truly will be the ultimate Op Shop. The people are reasonable there as well so if you think something is over priced don't be afraid to ask and usually they'll drop a couple of dollars (good tip). I've picked up some great shoes there as well as bags, lights, kitchen ware, a coffee machine (that works), shirts, jackets and was tempted to buy a dresser but contained myself, as it was probably for the best, because sometimes you get home and realise you don't really need half the things you buy!

Located a couple of K's behind the big mall this store offers a surprisingly awesome level of selection. With seven donation bins waiting patiently out the front and a whole basement full of stock this gives you some idea of their level of turnover. There are several racks devoted wholly to designer clothing and retro/costume racks with actual vintage pieces. Don't get too excited though, the staff know their stuff and price the stock accordingly. It's still cheaper than looking for vintage pieces around Collingwood/Fitzroy but don't expect back of the church shop prices. There is a huge selection of kids clothing, bric a brac, sports equipment and electrical goods. There is also A LOT of vinyl, I found Carly Simon and ELO without even trying. So if you're up for the drive (public transport is almost impossible) Doncaster Salvos is worth a visit.

I mean, you need to have priorities, right? The first thing I realised is this op shop is actually not that little. It has lots of furniture, and I couldn't believe it when I was pretty much the exact outdoor setting I had been pondering over in Harvey Norman the day before. This outdoor setting looked like new. Perfect condition. At $299, I snapped it up. Much cheaper than the $1299 HN were asking. They not only have furniture, but lots of clothes, books, records, shoes, bags, toys, and heaps more. I personally could spend hours browsing through op shops looking for little bargains. More often than not, I end up leaving with some great deals like this outdoor setting.

Sacs is a great little shop for getting a new dress and experimenting a little bit. You know when…read moreyou buy something that you are not sure if you will wear often but it is different and unique so you take a chance? Yep, this is the best place to buy those. The main reason is that they are pretty cheap. The other reason is that the service here is tops. The service staff are always super duper friendly and helpful. The store itself is a little crowded but there is always plenty of crowded sale racks to make you forget how cramped you feel. My favourite items in this store are the colourful maxi dresses - only around in summer or nearing a warm period of the year. They are very unique and light - perfect for summer.
