The maple creemee was incredible -- unbelievably delicious, rich, and perfectly creamy with an authentic maple flavor that completely lives up to the hype. Easily one of the best maple treats you'll find anywhere. The maple syrup tasting was both informative and fun. The staff did a fantastic job explaining the different syrup grades and flavor profiles, and it was fascinating to taste how much they vary. Everything felt fresh, high-quality, and clearly made with care. The grounds themselves are beautiful, especially in winter. With a deep blanket of snow covering the landscape, the farm felt peaceful, scenic, and exactly what you hope for when visiting Vermont in February. Bought some of their delicious maple syrup, a couple regular bottles and a verity pack. We got a couple creamees nice on a humid day. Went out and about and watched an educational video on how they get the sap from the trees. There is some equipment in that same area which is cool to see. It's Very rustic surroundings, you can tell this is where hard work is done. We walked on the trail to see how the hoses run down from the trees to the barn gathering the sap from the trees. Wishing them nothing but the best with their up coming season for their business.

It seems that at some point it was moved here to the parking lot of a business from a shorter concrete slab in the woods. It's not really the tallest filing cabinet. It's a stack of regular-height filing cabinets attached to one another into a column, so it's less impressive or creative. Structurally, it is a vertical stack of separate cabinets turned into a sculpture, not a purpose-built giant cabinet with 38 drawers. It's covered by vandals' stickers and markings. It hasn't been treated and since they aren't meant to be outdoors, rust and weather damage has taken severe effect. Each drawer represents a year of bureaucratic delays related to a proposed highway project in Burlington called the Southern Connector, first proposed in 1965. Some of the drawers contain catalogued fragments of a shredded red Volkswagen Beetle. Of course, you can't see it though.

Parking is outside and sometimes you have to park 5-8 mins away from the falls . Not much of restrooms around . Lots of dogs in the water :) It was an amazing tint though ! Loved it . 5 stars !

First, it can get very crowded along the road (there is no official parking lot). Be sure to pack your patience. If you arrive mid-afternoon, more spaces near the entrance may open. Second, no public restrooms are available. So, plan accordingly. Third, the middle falls are easiest to access if you're here for a short time. Overall, it was a nice place for a quick visit. However, Buttermilks Falls are not as impressive as other Vermont locations with swimming holes such as Bartlett Falls or Warren Falls. The latter is particularly scenic with a high cliff jump that is for brave teenagers and adults only. The state of Vermont is blessed to have so many natural swimming areas!

The day before, my husband picked up a big 22-pound bird that had just been butchered a few days ago. It was so fresh that I had a few tiny feathers floating around in my brine. It was so fresh that I could just barely separate the skin from the breast meat to rub in the butter and fresh thyme, which the Girls also so generously provided. It was so fresh I didn't really have to tie together the legs or pin down the wings. It was so fresh that you could *taste* it. And this was (or had been) one healthy turkey! You could tell by the quality of the skin, the texture of the uncooked meat, the size of the bones!!! Man, this turkey had been doing some weight-bearing exercises or something! Huge leg bones. Wings you could make a meal of. I can't wait to taste the broth. Yet the meat was as tender as it was flavorful. Now, with fresh turkey from a farm, you're gonna want to brine it. My 22-lb bird fit in the brining bag from the grocery store beautifully. I put in 1.5 cups of salt, a cup of sugar, and about 2 gallons of water, and I let her sit for about 18 hours. I rinsed her real well; patted her dry; stuffed her with onion, carrots, and celery; covered her with a pound of bacon; wrapped her up tightly in tinfoil; and then I let her roast at 425 degrees for about 3 hours, unwrapped her, and let her brown for about 30 more. Perfect. Tomorrow I'm making turkey pot pie and turkey stock--with locally grown carrots, onions, garlic, and celery. I love knowing that my turkey had been well-cared for and loved, that she is about as organic as you can get, and that her purchase supported my favorite local farm girls. And my guests loved that tender, tasty turkey.

This small and very unassuming bridge located in Stowe is actually said to be haunted !! The name…read moreof this covered bridge, the Gold Brook, is also known as Emily's Bridge. It was built in 1844, and the most famous of the (many) stories about this bridge is that back in the 1800's, a farmer's daughter, Emily, fell in love with a young man from a rich family, but his parents refused to allow their wedding to occur. The young man told Emily to wait on the bridge at midnight, but he didn't show, and she was so distraught, she is said to have taken her own life. Allegedly, her ghost appears during the nighttime around Halloween, haunting those who come to the bridge. We drove over the quiet bridge during a summer day, but we saw no sightings of Emily !!

We took that as a challenge, and gleefully have to admit that yes, it IS the best bacon in the world. I believe that a pound of nitrate free bacon was about $7-9/lb, and it didn't last. That's about the price for any nitrate free bacon, and here it was actually from some happy, heirloom pigs. It is fattier than some of the bacon you might find elsewhere, so just keep a jar handy to save the drippings to add to potatoes or possibly to deep fry a healthy french fry (http://www.foodandwine.com/articles/lard-the-new-health-food). When we return to Vermont for the 4th of July, we will be picking up a few pounds to take back. It is so very good.
