This is one of my favorite things to do in Ocala. The market is only open on Saturdays from 9am-2pm, rain or shine. Other events are held here all other dates and times. I cannot stand the heat so I appreciate that the market is under a covered pavilion. There are some vendors that set up outside the pavilion because there is not enough room. The parking is free as well, with plenty of options in the surrounding areas. You don't have to walk far either. The market is extensive enough that you could easily spend 2-3 hours there. There are several food trucks you can purchase food and drinks from. Sipping Grounds is my favorite! They offer snacks, as well as coffee drinks, beer, wine, and mimosas. There are a variety of vendors, with many being staples each time I have visited. I usually stop by and purchase from the same vendors. There are several vendors selling vegetables and fruits, a farmer who sells cheese he makes, a seafood vendor, a vendor who sells dips, spices, and seasonings, another vendor sells oils & vinegars, bakery items are sold by several vendors, and usually there are a couple of vendors specializing in doggie treats. You can also sample a lot of these items, which is awesome. Of course there are vendors who sell jewelry, artwork, decor, pottery, etc.

The Ocala Downtown Market puts the actual "farm" back in farmer's market…read more Unlike those pseudo farmers markets out in California where people discuss their heirloom tomatoes, this place is where folks casually mention their cattle count and debate chicken acquisitions like they're discussing the weather. But don't let the farm talk fool you. There's serious variety here: grass fed beef suppliers, fresh eggs, wellness drink makers pushing sea moss and charcoal, potters working live, pottery, kitchen gear, clothing, and trinkets galore. It's a whole ecosystem of real farm life. I felt like I'd stepped directly into that world without actually being at a farm, which was wonderful until I realized my outfit didn't get the memo in my very short mini dress. Cute as can be, but everyone else was in jeans and tees. I stuck out like a designer purse at a livestock auction. Next time I'm definitely dressing down to blend in. The market is bustling and packed with options. You can skip Publix entirely and do all your grocery shopping here, just cheaper. Everything's cheaper. This is legitimately as close to farm life as you can get without actually stepping in cow manure. ... trust me, one wrong step in a mini dress and you will be fishing a high heel out of a very fresh cow pie.

Every inquiry by text or phone was met with silence or anger that I was bothering him. Received less than 370# of beef, with 150# being ground, no tenderloin and don't believe it's our steer. Was told we would only get sausage from our hogs but received 130# of processed meats and no sausage. Definitely not our hogs. I figure we were shorted over 100# of beef and 100# of pork. Did I mention that this was for a charity?

Terrible customer service. They do not communicate with customers, had to drag cost info out of…read morethem the day before pickup. Doesn't have meat ready by time processed. I left many messages and never received a call back. I finally had to do research to find an alternative phone number which I did on the USDA website. The man who answered claimed he was the owner was not pleased, he was unpleasant. Dropped off 3 pigs. Two were around 250 lbs, third was 300 lbs. At pick-up it filled 1 cooler and half my freezer. I've raised pigs in the past and two pigs usually fill my freezer. So, seeing that 3 did not fill it up completely says there is something wrong. You don't lose 60% of your live weight when butchering. I truly think I picked up someone else's order. My cut sheet requested bone in chops and ground pork. All the meat was boneless and there was no ground pork. I found Italian sausage and this was not ordered. I contacted the owner that day an explained the situation. All he kept saying was he wasn't a liar. His son in the background said there was no way they weighted that much and kept calling the pig's pot belly. I asked if they could please supply me with the weight when they were dropped off the pigs and what the hanging weight was. They do not have that information. I asked if I could have a copy of the cut sheet, they do not have that either. I also wanted to know how long the wait time was from drop off to slaughter. He had no idea. Not even a receipt was given at pick-up. Everything seems to be shady. The owner was so rude, it was my fault for second guessing him. My statement to him was humans make mistakes. This may not have been intentional. I would like this to be looked into. I was told he would think about it. What is sad is after researching this company more, they are many unhappy people. And we all have the same reasoning. I even discovered they were suspended due to "establishment did not handle or slaughter animals humanely" in June 2023. That really scares me. Do the animals get fed while waiting? How many days do they sit from drop of to processing?
