I moved from Albany NY in Nov 2012 to the area. I got an inspection and emissions in Dec 2012. They recommended new front brakes so I replaced them. I got a new inspection and emission in Dec. 2013. The recommended replacing the back brakes so I did. I went back in July 2014 due to my car making an odd noise(they never figured out what it was). They recommended replacing the front brakes again so I did. I went to get my inspection and emission done in Dec 2014. They said my back brakes were rusty and recommended replacing them. But not only that, it failed inspection due to the parking brake and back brake light not working. They also claimed my transmission lines were leaking and I needed at least one new tire (that is true and I knew that). All in all, I needed $700 in repairs to fix my car to pass inspection. I decided to get a second opinion. I took my car back to the dealership where I bought it since I can get a free inspection (back to central PA). They said I only needed new tires and new wiper blades and everything else looked great. Every time I have gone to Knolls, I always ended up spending $300-$500. My car is 5 years old. I understand replacing brakes when needed, but every time?!? And then saying my parking brake needed replaced when it did not? And my parking brake light? I even asked the dealership to check these out when I got my inspection the second time so I wasn't hiding anything. Plus I knew the dealership people, they are trustworthy and honest(I am from a small town, my parents know them and have dealt with them a lot so we know them). All in all, I will never go back to this place. They are expensive and I believe look for problems where there are none. I read so many good reviews online so I figured they would be honest and a good place. I was very wrong. Maybe since they figured I was a woman, I would not know any better? I will be looking for a new mechanic regardless. Stay away from this place. read more
