After a bad trim experience at Ulta over the holidays, I went to my sister's guy in Rocky Mount. I'd been to him once before, many years ago, and he did a fabulous job. He did so again -- great cut and color. And the price is better than Charlotte... Backstage has a new location in Rocky Mount, smaller than the previous spot but fewer chairs and hence more attention to clients. There is some hair product for sale here, though not my usual Kerastase and bumble & bumble. I'll have to get that from somewhere else. Jeff is the owner, and he's very good, so you'll want to schedule an appointment with him at least 2-4 weeks in advance. They are closed on Mondays.

I couldn't go to the funeral like this and I'm just not a hat person. I called the salon at 9 something in the morning and junior answer the telephone with such a great personality. Junior informed me that he could retwist my Locs but he wasn't very good at intricate hairstyles, which was no problem for me I just need my hair done!! Junior is very sweet he did my hair. He washed, retwisted & styled my hair all within 1.5 hours. I could sit there and listen to Junior talk all day, he is such a joy with a beautiful spirit. Junior sent me off with a fresh hair do & a hug as if we were old friends. I don't live in NC but I do recommend visiting Junior at this salon. Great job Junior!!!! Awesome sauce

However, it was unkempt and looked a bit messy. I met my stylist who looked frumpy in her graphic tee and limp hair. But she was nice! (I hate leaving negative reviews). I wanted to change from a shoulder length bob to a shorter inverted bob. She gave me a very quick wash and proceeded to cut my hair. Having been to many high end salons, and gotten this cut before, I expected point cutting and newer techniques. I felt like I was at Great Clips. When I left, I thought the cut looked ok. However, after a wash and style, I realized the sloppiness. Fortunately I found another Aveda salon in Rocky Mount who was able to fix it. Subtle changes but helped everything lie right.
