Knowles is not a company you should be using. If something goes wrong you will never see them again. They destroyed my driveway and lawn, tearing up pavement and leaving 2 foot deep tire tracks and holes as you can see in the pics. Never heard from them again after they left until NE Paving showed up for the "last job of the day and week" to repair the pavement, NE Pavings Dump-truck crashed into our fence causing $800 worth of damage. Now we were left with a horribly patched driveway that was pristine before Knowles showed up, $500 worth of lawn repairs, $800 fence repair bill, and two stumps in our lawn, that we have to pay another company $400 to remove, Knowles was supposed to grind the stumps as part of the quote but once they did the damage they were out of here. Emailed and called Knowles over a month period, with no responses. They have just disappeared!...BUT I did get a bill for $1200 in the mail for the entire job. I had to call them to tell them to stop trying to bill me. They apologized for the damage but said they would not be coming back. Not really a stand up company when things go wrong. Just watch out if they damage your house, property, car etc. Don't risk it with Knowles...use someone else. . read more

Had a half dozen trees taken down and some limbing done along the powerlines. Took awhile to schedule the appointment due to an equipment problem on their end, but once they scheduled, things happened quickly. They were due to arrive at 1PM, and I had managed to get out of work in order to meet them. I made one stop on the way home because I had time and as I pulled into my street, the trucks were at the end of the road. I hoped they hadn't been waiting. When I pulled up to the mailbox, the invoice was in the mailbox -- THE WORK WAS DONE!!! They cut everything into 4' sections as I had requested and took care of my existing brush pile. We could not have been happier with their work. Across the board, this was an excellent experience. HIGHLY recommended. I later had the wood milled by Jesse Matras of Northwood (also HIGHLY recommended) and plan to use those timbers for a project in the house. read more

Don't waste your time literally! Made an appointment for them to come out and give me a price to have multiple trees removed from our property. They could not come out until the end of the week. Gave me a time slot. Called to check when they were 40 minutes late, said they were running late due to an emergency call they received the woman told me that they were on there way and would be at my house shortly. Called again when they were now almost 2 hours late. The same woman who I spoke to earlier said "oh, I don't know why they did not show up....I guess I will make you another appointment". No apology, no sense of caring whatsoever. When I explained my frustration of wasting the last 2 hours waiting for no reason even after calling to check to see if I still needed to wait for them she says, "well I guess I won't schedule you another appointment!" I wanted to help support a smaller/local company. Unfortunate! I will gladly use another company. read more

On 2/23/2019 Knowles cut down 8 trees and pruned another 20 on a 1.3 acre home lot. We had three bids. They were half the price of the other two. They did the work in 2/3 of a day. The quality of the work was outstanding...a 20 out of 10. They asked good questions, gave great advice what to do and not to do as they did the work, cleaned up after themselves and were very friendly. They did the work professionally, not taking any short cuts to what needed to be done. I would recommend anyone to have them quote your work and use them. read more

Bad bet. I bought two and a half cords of seasoned wood from them this year. Had to unload most of it from their trailer because the trailer battery wasn't charged and wouldn't dump. Once cool weather set in, and I tried to burn the wood, I find that it is not seasoned, it is green and virtually unusable this year. Don't buy from these people, they are not selling what they say, and there is a word for that, several words in fact, which you can figure out. read more

Needed a tree cut down that was leaning toward house. Got a fair quote, but wanted to get three even though I felt comfortable with the quote I got from Knowles. Chris told me if I called back by the following Monday they could get the tree down by Wednesday. I called Monday, Chris said they could do around 1:00 Wednesday. They came about 12:00 and were done before 1:00. They were good at their word, work and price. Will be using again in the future. read more

I've brought Don Knowles and his tree cutters onto my property five or six times in the past twenty years for massive pine removal and have never once been displeased. Having worked with other tree services, I can judge professionalism and safety when I see it. These guys may charge a little more..it seems there's always someone willing to do a job for less...but when you give Knowles the work, you can walk away knowing there will be no surprises and no safety compromise. One thing I especially commend them for is not taking chances. They will bring in the required equipment to overwhelm the largest tree removal problem. Always proper cleanup too. Today they removed a badly leaning 90-foot tall pine that was hung up in a healthy oak, which they assured me they would not damage in the process. Pine tree surgically removed. Oak tree unscathed!
