There are several different little restaurants in a row and we decided to try Catalina. It exceeded all expectations! First, the ambience, decor, bar area, music and wait staff were all top notch! Five star all the way around. We had an excellent red wine and superb service from start to finish. They have an excellent cocktail and wine list, full bar, and everything from the most delicious appetizers and soups and salads to entrees and desserts. You cannot go wrong with this place. I highly recommend it and will revisit!!!

Different perspectives on Pain Perdu, Tartines, Ouefs en Cocotte, and Croque Monsieurs are to be found on nearly every corner in La Condesa & La Roma. Catalina is part of this newer outbreak of French cookeries, offering its own take on dishes from la belle France. Stepping into Catalina is a mixture of different cultures, experiences and ambiances. The seating outside follows the norm of La Roma, of happy, well-off types sipping coffee, wine, or beer, depending on the hour; the inside with its own unique scene: a Parisian look with a bright interior and elegant table settings on marble countertops; the decor following a New York aesthetic, a couple of pictures of Penn Station hanging on a bright white wall that round out a Brooklyn-like vibe; the owner sitting in the back, watching with vigilant eyes, inspecting every aspect of service. The meal, in the morning, starts with baked goods, which are made in a neighboring bakery. The conchas are flavorful albeit an odd texture, the croissants and pain aux amandes full of flakiness and buttery goodness. The breakfast menu is short but appetizing. The open faced sandwiches are one of the most delicious offerings, Pan Campesino is topped off with scrambled eggs, shaved cheeses, and seasonal mushrooms. The frittata is also a good option, served in an iron skillet with a couple of slices of artisanal bread. The often photographed Pan Francés is indeed a pretty sight. Served with a poached egg, scallions, maple syrup, and a thick slice of bacon, it is meant to portray a play of sweetness and saltiness, and although personally I am not convinced about the flavor combinations, most people crave fried chicken and waffles, so I will leave it up to those who enjoy these kind of things. It seems that gastronomes everywhere cannot get enough French food, and even though I believe Mexicans should be proud of their own cuisine and should endeavor more and more to explore the vastness and depth of Mexican gastronomy, having a piece of sweet French toast readily available is a good option to have.

That said, I really appreciated how clearly those items were labeled--it set expectations upfront and made ordering easier given our schedule. The space itself is beautiful with an open, airy ambience that immediately sets the tone. We were started off with complimentary crispy tortillas served with both red and green salsas--a simple but very welcome touch. For food, my kids ordered the lime soup and the penne al chipotle, both of which they really enjoyed. My husband and I went for the tortas: he chose the Bacalao a la Veracruzana and I had the Cangrejo de Concha Suave. Both were delicious, with a unique twist on the classic flavors. My husband also had a cocktail that he loved. Overall, a solid experience with great food and atmosphere. This is definitely a place I'd return to when I can slow down and savor it properly.

The first time we came in shortly before closing but they were more than accommodating and sat us down right away. This is a fine dining experience and it is really cool to be able to watch the kitchen and chef at work from your table. I can highly recommend the Guac- love the little touch of pomegranate and the variety of chips to dip, the chicken lime soup was a hit with our 1.5 year old, the beet salad was delicious and the sea bass cooked to perfection. For mothers day I treated myself to a house margarita and it was delish. We also tried not one but two desserts this time, the chocolate cake with ice cream and the soursop jelly, both divine! I was excited having just learned about the soursop fruit, and how many nutritional benefits there are- make sure you give it a try if you're into pudding desserts. The next time we tried some of the same things and some new things- steak, roasted chicken, cauliflower with mole sauce (the mole sauce here was perfection) mushroom soup and the house lemonade. All fantastic, and the presentation is wonderful. We ended the evening with the hot chocolate cake which was the perfect balance of chocolate paired with ice cream- note that this dessert does take some time to prepare fresh. Planning to come back here if I am ever in the area again!

We then kicked things off with the arancini, which set the tone right away--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done. For mains, we shared a spread and honestly couldn't pick a favorite: the Octopus Tacos were tender and packed with flavor, the Rabbit Tacos were unique and delicious, and the roasted seasonal vegetables "al mojo de ajo" were simple but so satisfying. The marinated pan-fried salmon and fresh trout were both beautifully cooked and thoughtfully seasoned. Every dish felt intentional, beautifully presented and well executed. But the real showstoppers were the desserts. The fresh goat cheesecake with orange, grapefruit, and lemon was bright and perfectly balanced, and the whisky chocolate crème brûlée was rich, smooth, and unforgettable. Desserts truly knocked it out of the park. Bonus points for the cocktails--my hubby was a huge fan. Great food, great drinks, excellent service and relaxed ambiance made for a wonderful overall experience. Highly recommend adding Temporal to your Mexico City dining list.

We order pan de dulce for the table and we got 2 conchas, soft and warm just made. A chocolate roll and a fig and nata pastry along with coffee for the table. Service was very quick, efficient and friendly menus can be had in english or Spanish . My daughter order a hot chocolate with preparation table side, she said it was amazing. No music beyond the 2 guitar player going around table to table to see if you wanted a serenade. Skipped their offer 1st time around. Pretty quiet, bright and clean. Found that waiter spoke a little English and with our little Spanish got things done. Menus are bilingual Spanish-English. Ordered 4 lamb tacos, chile en nogada, cooked chicken in green sauce and a fish dish (forgot name, little spicy) then a coke, horchata and a pineapple drink. We got chips, cheese, sauce while waiting. Those were all nicely done but average. Dishes out maybe 10 min later. All presented well and hot. We shared each dish. Lamb tacos nicely done, little dry, but they give you some guacamole, a brown sauce, along with the green sauce and cheese with the tortilla chips. Nice, not fatty. Next was the chiles en nogada. First time tried this and really enjoyed, many flavors and nicely flavored beef. In general little on sweet side, so probably couldn't eat more than 1. The chicken in green sauce was a homey, comfort food. Nicely cooked chicken leg and thigh was an ever so slightly spicy sauce. Also came with tortilla wraps and Spanish riceLastly was the spicy baked fish. Done well, fell apart pretty easily, was spicy, but not too much. Had green beans on side done well, not too soft or hard, and Spanish rice. Drinks were all a hit. Coke is coke. Horchata and pineapple juice served in big mugs. Pineapple tastes freshly squeezed and horchata was a super solid example in every way. Oh almost forgot, later in the meal we figured out how to get the 2 guitar fellows to play for us. 2 songs for 300 peso, about 7min total. They did a good job with both the guitar and singing, was enjoyable to listen to them. Would stop back again if in area.
