It had everything you need and what they had was top notch. *AMBIANCE* Cozy, elegant, and stylish. There is some history to this place and you can tell two things: 1) It is family owned and they are taking good care of the place, and 2) the interior decoration is outstanding and they family put a lot of effort into getting it to where it is. Overall, the place is very quiet, peaceful, and a great place to relax. *SAUNAS* Their saunas met the mark with a high margin. The hot sauna is hot! The infrared sauna makes you sweat! The low heat sauna is great for relaxing! The water pool - cold! The steam room - great for skin cleansing and relaxing. They were all kept very clean! *ETIQUETTE* No clothes of any kind allowed in the saunas. Place your towel under you to cover your full body and to capture your sweat. Saunas and dressing room are co-ed, in fact the entire place is co-ed. Behave respectfully and politely. Ask the staff for any clarification, as they were super polite, helpful, and kind. Great place to try your first sauna in the Netherlands.

Chose the Signature spa day for both. The spa is very beautiful and is housed in a former bank - look for the vault doors interspersed throughout. The package includes two hours in the WET area. We got there early and took advantage of the facilities - sauna, steam, plunge pools, indoor pool, etc. We took full advantage as we had taken a red eye from the US. Basically we dozed off near the pool before our treatments. The signature spa experience was excellent. We each had own room (the spa was renovated and as a result they lost their couples room). Both of our therapists were excellent. The experience consists of a massage, body scrub, and facial (120 minutes) followed by a glass of Prosecco. We both were exhausted after the flight, so it was a blissful experience - we both fell asleep! We were there for just over four hours, took a quick sip of the Prosecco and ran out to make our dinner reservation. Highly recommend this spa!

The cold immersion bath or little pool is really cold (that is the way it is meant to be). There is a private outside sitting area as well for use in summer. Everything is perfectly functional and the facilities are adequate. You can rent towels and robes at the counter and there is a small pantry offering tea, juices, sandwich, shakes and warm soup (vegetarian of course). The sauna including the dressing or changing room is mixed gender. Tuesdays are vrouwendag (women's day) and the sauna is closed on Wednesdays. There is no bath suit day. The prices are more than reasonable. It is about half the charge when compared to Deco. The sauna has a massage room on site which is leased to professional masseurs. You have to make an appointment if you plan to get a massage. Don't expect to find grandeur, luxury and spa like atmosphere. It is sufficiently small place and there are no other sauna rooms apart from the dry sauna & steam room. The atmosphere inside can be improved further to give it a cozy feel. There is a local feeling and casual atmosphere to it, like the around the corner neighborhood place and there are lots of regulars. The sauna is staffed mostly by volunteers and they are friendly. After Fenomeen closed, this has become the best alternative.

I noticed the beautiful facade of The City Street Spa, and stopped in. They were so wonderful, and upon looking over the menu of services, I booked a massage for the next day. The City Street Spa offers an extremely calm, welcoming, environment and felt like I was personally being attended to at every step. I dressed in the provided robe, sat in the waiting lounge and met with Vanessa, my massage therapist. She asked a host of questions, and even had me complete a small checklist to identify my symptoms. I cannot explain how terrible this jet lag was, and she understood what type of aromatherapy to use on me. The private massage room is so open, and fresh and clean. She placed a soothing bowl of lavender oil underneath the table so I could inhale the aromas. This delighted and really relaxed me. Then, she got to work. I cannot remember the last time I had a massage so specific to my needs. So many massage therapists in NYC use a formula, or a map not giving any attention to your personal pain points. Not Vanessa, she was very melodic in her treatment, and she worked a lot on my hips to release tension from sitting so much. Just typing this now, I wish I could go back to Amsterdam for another appointment. I also discovered the oils they use, Aromatherapy Associates. While I could not afford to purchase oil that day, I have since and am amazed at the effectiveness of their products. Book with Vanessa, an aromatherapy massage. It's well worth it. This spa is beautiful and luxurious. Pampering defined. It's a bit more expensive than the Jordaan location because the services come with access to the spa facilities, which includes a pool, several types of saunas and steam rooms and for sunny days a sunning deck. When you check in you get a fluffy robe and slippers. You can shower. Linger from room to room. And get in the zone for whatever treatment you're going to get. Even though the location is crazy hectic, once you're in there and in your robe you completely forget you're in the heart of the city. I went in for a facial and it did not disappoint. I usually find that many of the facials in Amsterdam are just an application of various products and are not very clinical. This was not the case at all. You could have eaten lunch off of my face it was that clean and smooth! The arm and leg massage was a pleasant surprise.
