I can not believe what I heard about this place recently! A lady I know who has been trying to get her citizenship in order SINCE LAST NOVEMBER has not heard any update about it from the law office or Mrs. Kobayashi! She paid the down payment A YEAR AGO. In the contract it states you can't do drop-ins, and in order to get a call back you need to leave a detailed message. She has left messages for a call back, however, there has still been no update on her citizenship. A YEAR NOW! And no update! Also, my friend paid $150 just for a consultation. You can find different lawyers on Yelp for consultations for free... Also, she told her if she wanted her to go to court it'd be additional $7000 on top of the $8000 quote. ALSO, it states in the contract if you do not contact them within a year of signing the contract it states "this contract may be terminated by attorney", is that with no refund too? Asking for a friend. What happened to #8 on the contract: "Both client AND ATTORNEY will use their best efforts to accomplish the purposes of this agreement"?! This contract I read was ridiculous! If she cancels now she'll have to pay $300 for hours "worked". It's been a year with no updates... This attorney knew my friend has been trying to get her citizenship done since 2001. HONESTLY- I'm really tired of hearing stories of corrupted attorneys getting over on decent human beings, immigrants in particular. If you want to help minorities, then do it. Lisa Kobayashi and her team has made my partner and I very happy. We were concerned about getting the right attorney/law firm to help us with our immigration martial case. I think is a big mistake to consider hiring this Law Firm to represent you in any Immigration Case. Once they take your money you get no phone call or hear anything from them. When you keep calling them for Status of your case they keep saying they will return your call and let you know. But they never call you back despite you calling them more than a few times and they never tell you anything. They just keep saying they get back to you. Well where do I begin? After going through a bad experience with the lawyer who completely screwed us up screwed us over and as a result of that my husband had to stay in Mexico for almost a year,and not to mention the poor customer service and the poor quality of the way that this other lawyer office treated us was cruel and unfair. Where to begin....first and foremost I would like to begin by thanking Lisa for all of her patience and hard work. Starting the immigration process was something my husband and I had been dreading for a very long time. We had two other consultations with different attorneys but they were not able to answer most of our questions. When we met Lisa, it was like night and day. I honestly cant give enough praise to Lisa and her team. My husband's immigration case wasn't ideal, due to some traffic tickets and being caught at the border. Lisa being so professional and thorough with all her work, got us our waiver approved in 3 months!! She then prepared our Affidavit of Support which was also approved in speedy time. The consular interview prep was done by Brian, whom I love. He was so patient and made sure to answer our questions before my husband left the country. While my husband was aboard, we did have a couple hiccups due to the medical exam but Brian and Lisa were always there to guide us through the next steps to get it all done. I cant even count all the dramatic and nerve filled emails I have sent Lisa over the past couple years about our case before it ended. I was just worrying myself sick with stuff I was reading online. Our previous lawyer had given us (what we eventually learned to be) bad advice which would have put our family in unnecessary distress. I accompanied my sister to Mrs. Kobayashi's appointment. She said she read my sister's over 12 years immigration case and had a solution for her. Mrs. Kobayashi charged her regular rate before our meeting. During the meeting she pointed out everything we already knew that had gone wrong on my sister's H1B and Green Card application. After about 30 minutes she gave us her best advice and magical solution to the series of troublesome behavior from previous lawyers and sponsors. Mrs. Kobayashi pull out a piece of paper with a list of online dating website such as match . com or Christian dating and she said to my sister. The only way to fix your immigration situation is for you to date and marry a US Citizen. She charged my sister $150 dollars (her consult fee) for a list of online dating sites. Working with Lisa to get my fiance visa has been indispensably valuable in achieving that goal. She is super responsive and knowledgeable. She provided exactly what I was hoping for and her advise gave me the confidence of winning approval at the USCIS and the US consulate in Vietnam. And i did NOT have an ideal situation. Lisa was the rare immigration attorney in Sacramento region who offered consultation at a 'regular guy' price. If i would have been able to have her handle everything I would have. But i needed to do on the cheap by using the consulting service she provided. The average wait time in California at the time I applied was 9 months. I believe it was the way that my paperwork was done, thanks to Lisa's advise, that i got approval in 4 months!! I would strongly recommend Lisa's service to do everything, unless you are willing to spend an unbelievable amount of time to do it yourself. For example, my first application for visa in USA was about 300 pages. My package to my fiance for her interview in Vietnam was a document compilation of more than 400 pages. Yes i had complications that made it necessary to make a good case. Yeah, it is a long and difficult process. And in 15 minutes, that consulate officer will decide yours, and your visa applicant's fate. There is little, if any, margin for error. 40 to 50 percent of the visa applications in Vietnam are rejected, and i am sure 95% of them are due to not doing it right. DON'T think you know better! When i think of the service that Lisa provided me, I realize that it was really a godsend that does bring a grateful tear to my eye. Her style is very thorough but very personal and lovely. I can guarantee that you will achieve your goal by using Lisa's services, unless you really don't meet the requirement (she will let you know!), or perhaps your fiance will flub the interview . KNOW that without the services that Lisa provides, be prepared to likely fail. The visa process is intense and the instructions provided do not cover all that you need to know and provide. Great things come in small packages. Very pleased at the outcome of our case given the fact that it was rather complex background from being F1 students to political asylum, voluntary deportation, to H1B visa holders, coupled with a felony charge that was grounds for removal.
