ATTENTION MUST READ. I Hired Ranchod for my J-1 visa waiver case turned out to be one of the worst decisions I have ever made. My wife and I found a lawyer online who claimed to specialize in J-1 visas and had YouTube videos to back it up. We booked an appointment and I drove to his office in Sacramento. During the meeting, he assured me that my case had a 90% chance of being granted. However, before filing, he demanded that I pay the full amount, which was around $7,000. After I made the payment, he handed my case over to an amateur lawyer in Florida and disappeared. For three years, I called his office repeatedly, but they were extremely unprofessional and told me that the lawyer had two weeks to respond to my calls which he never did( it was absolutely a nightmare) . I never heard from him again, and my case was eventually denied after three years. The lawyer did not have the courtesy to call me about my case, and I fell prey to a scam artist. This lawyer should be investigated for his unethical practices. It is unacceptable to take someone's money and throw their case away without any communication. I am extremely disappointed and pessimistic about the entire experience. read more

UPDATE & PLOT TWIST ENDING: It took no more than 3 days after posting this review for Mr. Ranchod's office to reach out to us. My husband was first contacted by Paralegal Paola Baldomar, and a couple of days later by Mr. Ranchod himself. They both apologized without much explanation and asked my husband to remove this review. He said we would consider doing so only if our case was shown proper attention and follow up. What ensued was a long story of confusing communication and conflicting stories. I'll spare you most of the gory detail. The key points are: (1) Mr. Ranchod called my husband again about a week later to tell him that the I-130 filed for his sister (age 20 at the time of filing) would not result in permanent residency within ~18 months as he had originally promised but would take closer to 20 years!! Once again, he apologized but offered zero explanation for this egregious discrepancy between his guidance during our consultation and what we now realize is basic US immigration law of many years. (2) Days later, on 11/18/21, Mr. Ranchod's Operations Manager Angela Zepada called my husband. I was on the call as well. She painted an even worse picture. The I-130 filed for my husband's brother (age 18 at the time of filing) would also take 20 years to result in permanent residency!! Her exact words were, "We never should've picked up the brother and sister. We messed up on that part. There's no excuse." Then she added, "How can we make this better going forward? We want to make sure you're taken care of." Again, we shook our heads in disbelief. [I added one star for her courage to tell us the truth and effort to clean up for her boss]. (3) We received a refund for both sibling I-130 filings, identified and contracted with a different and vetted attorney who took over our case, and ran as far and as fast as we could from this law group. MORAL OF THE STORY: Mr. Ranchod either (a) intentionally misled us, or (b) doesn't understand basic immigration law. Either scenario is bad. Very bad. Perhaps Mr. Ranchod should consider a new career in marketing. That's one area where he really shines. read more

I've been a client with this firm for the last 5 years and it's been nothing short of an absolute nightmare from the very beginning until now. To cut the long story short though this is what you can expect. A quick initial conversation with the lawyer for about $350 where he will give you NO strategy or information whatsoever on how they would handle your situation, except what you can already Google. At the end of the conversation they he will offer you a discount if you get into a contract with them immediately. Given the exorbitant fees of these cases most people will obviously feel compelled to take it. You money will be processed immediately. That's it. After that you can expect no further communication from them. You will have to call them day after day, send e-mail after e-mail to initiate the case or to respond to anything. Months will go by, which will turn into years. Also, after you sign a contract with them, and they send you the initial checklist of documents you need to gather, be aware that that checklist is 60% of your contract. If for any reason you want to cancel or change lawyers most of your money is gone. Even so, it's been over 7 months now I've been trying to get a refund of my remaining 40%. They have finally sent me a letter stating they'll refund the remaining and I agree to not 'defame' them. As another reviewer has pointed out their reviews are manipulated and I wish I had known earlier. I've sent the letter back to them to remove the clause because that is not part of our contract. I am tired of legal scammers in my life and I will do everything to let the public know the truth whether or not they return my money. read more

Due to the complexity of J1 Hardship waivers, all the other firms refused to help us. We decided to look for help outside of our state, and found the Ranchod Law Group when searching for J1 waivers specialists. After talking to the managing attorney, we understood the process better and felt we stood a chance. The case was very difficult and time consuming, but Melissa was always very honest and patient. She was very responsive and knowledgeable and made sure we submitted the right documentation. If you need a lawyer who can contract you in, take your money and not do any work, Ranchod is the man for you. I signed a contract with this man, paid him $9,000 then never had any work done. He has refused to refund me my money. His office has pre-screened all my calls so when I try to make contact him or his team "in charge of my refund" are never in. I have sent numerous emails to Ranchod and his team, tried contacting him in his office in Sacramento since January and he has never responded. Every time I call, there is always an excuse for why they haven't refunded me my money. It's been, COVID or they've been "out of the office". My biggest gripe is that they acknowledge they owe me the money and act like they care and say they will get to it right away, then fail to do so. I have spoken with a representative at the BAR and have begun my formal complaint as I have felt I have no other option. I've waited for a year for this attorney to give me my money back, this is unacceptable. I am grateful that I was referred to Mr. Ranchod by my friend. I was worried about my situation and found very confusing information on the internet. I did not want to make any mistakes and I also wanted to know the effects of my filing. I know a wrong mistake could create a lot of problems. After talking to my friend I knew this was a law firm I could trust. I had my consultation with Mr. Ranchod and I was able to get connected quickly to have my questions answered. I wanted a consultation with an attorney because with USCIS if you call they take forever to speak to someone. Sometimes the government will even hang up after waiting. I was also concerned to ask an immigration officer for legal advice. I was impressed with Mr. Ranchod's expertise and ability to explain the law to me so I could understand it. There was a lot of information I did not know which he explained to me even though I sometimes asked the same question again so I could understand the advice. Immigration law is complicated to me and I did not want to misunderstand the law. He was very patient and by the end of the consult I was felt so much better. There were so many things that I would have overlooked and it saved me some serious headaches to say the least. Lets face it sometimes lawyers can be rude. Bak in 2013 we went in to see if i could apply for my husband, they said we needed the fingerprints and a FOIA, we paid a total of $5200 and after 19 months of going to the office and calling Claudia Linares to check on the status, they said there was no record of him and they couldn't take his case. I had a very bad experience with this law group. I was kept waiting for the response of my emails for 3 days everytime I sent an email. I was also not properly informed about the time interval that takes for a normal visitor visa to arrive and was asked for money for fast visa application even when I had enough time to get my visitor's visa in time in routine(non urgent) procedure. My Attorney really gave me very hard time and sleepless nights waiting for her response. I was never able to speak to my attorney when I really wanted to. I had an excellent experience with the Ranchod Law Group. They prepared and filed my case for J-1 Visa Waiver - Exceptional Hardship. I am a physician and completed my training on a J1 visa with 2-year requirement. I was referred to this law firm by a friend that he had already gotten his J1 waiver with their help. I initially discussed my case with attorney Ranchod in March 2019. He thought that I had a good case for the hardship application. Then, I was referred to attorney Melissa Oklan, one of his collaborators. From day 1 I felt that they had the experience and expertise to help me with the application. We discussed with Melissa about all the required documents and had a lot of support to write my personal statement. After providing all the documents they prepared and submitted the case within 2 weeks (August 2019). Then, we communicated again in March2020, when I received RFE (request for further evidence). This time our communication was much more frequent. Again, they prepared a list of documents that would answer the RFE and helped me prepare a second personal statement. We submitted my documents within a month from RFE. I received a positive answer from USCIS in July, DOS in July and finally the approval from USCIS in August 2020. The process was expedited after attorney Oklan contacted directly the USCIS. In general, I would give this office a perfect 10. They know what they are doing and they are doing it very well.
