I paid $50 in advance for a 30-minute consultation. However, the consultation never actually happened -- I only spoke with him briefly (about five minutes) to cancel and request a refund. No legal advice or service was provided, but Mr. Pollock refused to return my $50 despite multiple polite requests and my explaining that I am currently struggling financially. I even told him that $50 is about a week's worth of food for me. During that short call, he was dismissive and insisted that "any phone call counts as a legal consultation." He kept the call going until around the five-minute mark, then hung up abruptly to avoid issuing a refund. He also told me to "think about it," which seemed like a way to delay returning my money. Later, he even claimed that sending him an email would also count as a billable consultation -- something that felt completely unreasonable to me. After that, he said by email that he was "out of town" and would handle it later, but I never heard back from him again. I'm sharing my experience so others can make an informed decision before working with this attorney. I truly wish my first attempt to seek affordable legal help had been handled with more professionalism and empathy.

Then, out of nowhere, the secretary claimed they didn't have certain documents -- even though Ken had already confirmed they did. Since then, it's been difficult to reach him directly, and we've been passed around to different people who don't seem to be on the same page. We were also told from the start that we only needed to complete one counseling certificate, which we did. Later, we were informed we'd have to pay for another one. The process has been confusing, inconsistent, and very unorganized. We're still in the middle of this process, and unfortunately, it continues to feel all over the place. He was very understanding and non-judgmental about my wanting to disinherit certain family members, and he was very helpful in recommending primary and backup people to serve as my husband's and my beneficiaries, executors, trustees, attorneys-in-fact, and healthcare powers of attorney. Hal drafted the documents and mailed them to me for my review. I changed my mind about certain family members, and I appreciated that he and his paralegal made the changes that I requested. In mid-May, my husband and I visited Hal's office again to sign the final documents. Then Hal had the documents notorized, and he mailed us the original and copied documents. I reviewed the final documents and found no errors. I feel very relieved that my and my husband's finances and health will be handled according to our wishes. The total fee was $475.
