I'm not sure if it was Greg or Doug I spoke to, but the man began by letting me know that contractors were in high demand right now, turning down 95% of clients, and that if I wanted a shot at his company, I'd have to audition my proposal, which he'd agree to only if it sounded interesting enough to him... I should have hung up then. I'm embarrassed that I didn't. Instead I told him the first part of my project, and was quickly cut off... Man: Yeah no that's too small a project Me: Well, there's more... Man: I'm sure there is, but I'm not interested, thank you. Condescending much? For clarification, this "small project" of mine has been previously estimated at costing over $50k...and that's just to start. Are only million dollar contracts interesting enough for this company? All I know for certain is that they'll never get a cent from me. I wouldn't hire these guys if they paid me. Wasn't going to write a review but I read these others prior to working with Craig, and ignore…read morethem. That was my fault... I just went through a fairly painful invoice experience with this company. To start, they seemed extremely pleasant and kind up front. That's what made me ignore the reviews and want to work with Craig. And the work wasn't bad, all good things...however, we got our invoices from Old Town for the first job, where I was quoted 24 hours of work, they came in at 20 hours. Magically, Craig the owner, added ~4 more hours for himself on on the invoice (at a higher rate). I understand that he doesn't work for free but he was only here for 1.5 hours helping his guy. I sent two emails asking for clarification on what the other 2.5 hours were (maybe travel time, idk), just to know what I was paying and would be paying if we used them for future work and they never answered but seemed more angry I was asking than anything. Additionally, we had them work on our 45 sq ft laundry room tile, wasn't a complicated pattern (but not simple squares)... we purchased the tile ourselves, and laid out how we wanted it, it was still only 45 sq ft...I made the mistake of being moved by their passion and charisma and didn't get a quote for this one (my fault). All to note, we have a digital door lock that we use to track arrival and departure of all our contractors through the front door. Our door clocked in 17.4 hours for the week (mind you, they were our 5th contractor this summer all the others came in an hour of our door app when invoicing) Anyways, from our history with tile jobs ~17 hours for that small of space (+ a HD trip), is an appropriate amount of time... we were shocked when the invoice came in at ~28.5 hours (~$2,400). We went back and forth with them, they doubled checked their math and GPS and offered a 2 hour credit (out of "kindness") replying that the other hours ~9.5 were back office, prep, and trips to Lowes. The whole time through this process I told them I was just trying to understand what I was paying for and would, of course, pay them...I remained respectful but did wasn't clarification. Craig replied, "Pay what you wish. I will file a lien for the rest."after telling them I wasn't interested in any further work with them. In other words, home owners concerns about hours mean shit, they'll clock what they want, and they ultimately could care less about hard monitored hours...Definitely people any home owner would want to work with ;) There were a few other flags that I don't care to get into but just wanted to say that they did great work (and give Shaun credit for that), are extremely kind in person, and Shaun was so fun to have around (hence why the two stars). However, this type of behavior from Old Town (for whatever reason) maybe... to cover, or route, costs... while also being smug when I ask for clarification and even more smug when I tell them I have a digital door lock that tracks the time you're physically in my house (it's hard to work on a laundry room you can't access)...having large variances and ghost hours in invoices though is one of the things I fear most in this industry.

I like working with people I can trust to listen to me and to be giving me good information and not trying to make more money off me and I felt comfortable with Old Town Builders.

Working with a very small window to get this patches, Marissa and Saied stepped up and saved the day. They had the patch done in 2 hours, and didn't charge us and arm and a leg to get it done. We contacted Chaz and Jeannette after both the contractor and flood mitigation companies recommended by our insurance company dropped the ball. Titaan came in and fixed the mess left by those companies and the pipe leak. They refloored our entire bottom level, remodeled the bathroom, had custom stair treads made, and stayed in touch with our insurance company. Most importantly, they finished the job before our Christmas Eve party. I almost wish we could have another pipe leak so we could have them back to remodel another bathroom. Seriously, they do great work. At the very least, call them out for an estimate. They have excellent communication as well, we knew what was happening at every phase of the project.

Shay was straightforward and reasonable with design, budget, and schedule from day one. The best part - Shay and his crew finished our project in just around a month. When we started looking for a contractor, we looked at least a half of a dozen different options. The main difference between Century and the other contractors we considered was that they had pre-fabricated cabinets that were able to be customized to fit our needs, while others needed to spend more time and money to build cabinets from scratch. Having remodeled our previous homes' kitchen to similar cabinets, I can say that the quality was on par with the custom ordered cabinets we ordered before. I was very happy with the trade-off as this made the project move very quickly. Once most of our designs and choices were made, and work started, Shay was always available for feedback, and we were able to tweak any small thing we wanted to change, and correct any small discrepancies in what turned out versus what we expected. There were no huge surprises in our budget, and they were always willing to help pick up an appliance or exchange a light switch. Completely unreliable…read more I cannot speak to Segalla's quality as a construction company, because they never showed up to do agreed-upon work. I was recommended this company via another company, who claims they have a good working relationship with these people. After seeing the work to be done, sending me an estimate, and me giving the go ahead for the job, they failed to communicate about scheduling the actual job, despite me sending multiple emails and messages, did not show up on the (I thought) agreed-upon date, sent me passive-aggressive noncommittal emails "I'll get back to you about scheduling" "Sorry we didn't hear from you (when they had), we had to schedule other work..." and only when I demanded a straight answer did they, a week later, say they had no time for the job, and left me completely hanging with an unusable basement, which still is not fixed. These people are not a homeowner's friend. I suspect they had a bigger, more better paying job on the line, and cited a lack of a physical document signed by me (when no such requirement was stated, when they knew I was out of the country during the time I might have signed such document, and such things in my experience are usually signed the day workers show up at your place) as a reason to drop my project. I tried very hard to work with these people, by giving them three weeks after the original date of the job, to see if they could do it then, and they refused. I am very sorry to be writing this public review, but please do not attempt to hire them. This is not appropriate business practice.
