She was very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and very personable. When I first walked into her office I felt extremely overwhelmed with the process of keeping my business's finical information organized, but I left feeling confident and reassured that everything was in the best hands possible.

Though I had many recommendations and referrals for other accountants, I chose to work with Rose because I chose to specifically support a woman and minority owned business. One piece of advice from Erin Benzakein from Floret about hiring a bookkeeper and accountant was that if you feel dumb or awful after meeting with either, then it's time for you to hire a new accountant/bookkeeper. I was having a hard time managing my own bookkeeping and was inquiring about this service. I met with Tara and she was condescending, defensive, and was gaslighting me when I started crying on the call after she went on a diatribe about the importance of bookkeeping. I also disagreed with her statement that "Bookkeeping is the backbone of your business." Unfortunately, Rose was also on the call and there wasn't any intervention. I would recommend Rose Brown only if you were just working with her and Darin, but would stay away if you are on a call with Tara.

As of today, working with him for a bout a year, ALL my issues are straightened out/fixed/over/settled with the IRS. Thank you, John and staff. You all did a great job helping me get the IRS off my back and into a regular filing situation. So if you're looking for a great tax accountant, who is fast and accurate, give John a call, and tell him I sent you. You will not be disappointed, and you will be happy again!!

I sent him all the documents in August 2012 to review. He contacted me and said the amount we wanted to deduct was not legitimate. In January 2013, I contacted the IRS and spoke with an agent in Philadelphia and she clarified the IRS rules. It seemed legitimate. I contacted John Hepner in January by email - no reply. I finally called him and relayed the information over the phone to him personally. He told me he will take it into consideration and get back to me within a week. It was clear to me at the time, that he was going to make a decision on whether he would like to file the deduction. I thanked him and never heard back. We found ourselves scrambling for a new tax preparer in March 2013. By the way, the tax deduction was made under the advice of different tax preparer and there have been no audits or questions so far from the IRS. In summary, I respect John Hepner's decision against filing the tax deduction. I question his wisdom. But most of all, I question his professionalism. He should have had the professional courtesy to call me back. We were his clients for many years - always paid our tax preparation bills in a very timely manner and certainly did not deserve this type of discourtesy. I have been bothered by this event since it occurred and pondered whether and how I should file a complaint. Now that it is tax season again, I decided that it was in the best interest of consumers to release this information.
