Fortunately, I found FJ Koelle & Associates via a Google search, and was impressed by the previous Yelp reviews. Let me assure you, those reviews are legitimate, and Fred & Stacy are exceptionally wonderful to deal with. Fred got us in rather late in the tax season, which made me very happy. The experience from that point was as pleasant as having your taxes done could possibly be. Stacy went above and beyond to proactively call me the day before a snow storm, and asked if I wanted to move the appointment. Who does that these days? Exactly no one, that's who. Once we sat down with Fred, he prepared much of the info on the spot, rather than just taking notes and putting our return in a queue. Got a call the next day (yes, you read that right) that everything was ready. Amazing. I reached out to Fred with a question on individual income taxes. I am not currently a client of Fred (I do my own taxes), but he was kind enough to respond to me promptly and answer my questions. His grasp of the tax code and current tax laws was excellent; he was also very gracious with his time. Don't plan on asking this accountant to review any issues if you don't return to their office. Unwilling to help on a return that was sent back from the IRS for a reporting error. "I understand you moved on to another accountant but if you want me to correspond with the IRS you will pay me for my time" per Fred. But if I stayed they will help? I've had issues in the past for their submissions and they remedied them. However since I chose to move to another accountant that is no longer an option. I paid close to $1600 two years in a row for services. My new accountant is reasonably priced, very responsive and through. Fred could take a lesson from him. read more

TL;DR: This tax office didn't provide me with professional service and rather made me the customer do the work while collecting a large fee. My piece of advice; please stay away! Warning: this review is quite long but I hope you read, and I think you will thank me later. I honestly don't post many reviews but my experience here was quite appalling so I am posting this so others don't suffer the same experience that I had. My advice to anyone reading is that if your tax return is complicated in any manner, DO NOT use FJ Koelle & Associates. I have a tax situation with multiple sources of income. I tried my absolute best to gather all of my documents and provided Stacey with a detailed email describing my situation and kept following up every couple weeks asking if they required anything. Stacey from the office told me I should be fine and that I was never told I needed to provide everything. Fred called me a couple weeks before the tax deadline saying he is finalizing the draft and that all I needed was an interest form. However, after reviewing my first draft of the tax return I realized that thousands of deductible costs in my return were completely unaccounted for, which I emailed about asking for clarification. Fred called me (this time at 8pm on a Saturday) letting me know, in short, that I had to fix this error and email him back the revised tax form. This was a little over a week before the tax deadline, which gave me barely any time to make adjustments or go to another tax preparer. I also would like to comment that this call was unprompted once again, and he cursed multiple times throughout the call which felt unprofessional. He also refused to take any action to remediate the issue for me. I'm sure you see where my confusion began, because I am not a licensed tax professional and don't even know where to start as far as taxes are concerned. Fred said I needed to fix this myself and didn't even let me know what he had already accounted for, meaning I had to scour through my records and find everything myself to fix the errors his team had made. MAYBE I am wrong but I PAID for the service and he expected ME to provide the numbers for him? Fred blamed my disorganized documentation, which I disagree with, but furthermore no one even brought this up during the roughly 2 months where I had even been following up. They had plenty of chances and instead chose to blame me the customer. This was not the kind of service I was expecting for $750+ dollars. If I hadn't been thorough and picked up on this error in the first place, I would have had to pay taxes on thousands of dollars worth of profit that was NEVER there in the first place. I was unsure what kind of service I was paying for in the first place, because the other accountants I used processed all of this for me without a problem and for cheaper, mind you Due to this horrible experience, I asked Fred for a discount, but. Fred said he would provide a discount that was a little more than 6% of the total cost. This felt like a slap in the face considering how horrible the service had been. I paid the full amount due, and felt that I would rather leave an honest review. For anyone thinking of using FJ Koelle & Associates, I urge you to reconsider especially if your taxes are even slightly complicated. I truly felt duped by all the previous good reviews and I am starting to doubt the veracity of these reviews. read more

I hired Fred to handle my taxes, personal and business. I was given the impression they had experience with online sales tax management but in reality they had none. I had to consult other tax offices for info to help Fred understand how things needed to be processed. At the end of the day I paid a monthly retainer for services I never received and when telling Fred I wanted a refund of the retainer fees I was told they would go towards "services rendered" and if my new cpa wanted info on last years filing he would share that info with them. This man is a con artist and an extortionist, I highly recommend seeking professional services from someone else. read more

Mr. Koelle changed my life! when i met him on the recommendation of a friend, i had NEVER filed taxes. not ever. at the time i met him, i was self-employed, but even when i had been working for an employer, i simply had never filed my taxes. i'm easily rendered helpless & confused, particularly by financial stuff. i wanted to buy a home, but being self-employed and having never filed taxes, with virtually zero credit, there was no way any reputable mortgage lender was going to approve me for a mortgage. not only did Mr. Koelle help me file my delinquent tax returns -- thereby enabling me to purchase a home, which i did in June of this year -- he discovered that the IRS actually owed ME several thousand dollars. on top of all of this, he's definitely not your stereotypical "stuffy accountant type." he's easily able to break financial discussions down into terms i can comprehend, which is no small task, and he does it absolutely WITHOUT being condescending or 'talking down' to me in any way. he is extremely friendly, warm, and personable, and never once has he engaged me as anything less than an equal human being. i really think Mr. Koelle is just a nice guy with an extraordinarily keen knowledge of the tax code, who enjoys helping people & improving their quality of life. i can't recommend him highly enough! read more

Hey, If you want an accountant that will be there every step of the way, this is your guy. Him and his team will go above and beyond to make sure you understand your taxes. I have used him for one year, and wish I would have found him sooner. This was the first year where I feel I can look at my tax return and understand what most of it means. As busy as they are during tax season, they will still go out of their way to answer any questions you may have, even if you ask over 100 like I do. If you want a reliable and trustworthy guy with your accountant needs, use Fred. Great for both business and personally taxes. He has great knowledge and tax strategy. Fred is a very friendly, accommodating, kind and down to earth type man.
