Waren am Samstag Abend ab 18 Uhr zum ersten Mal mit 4 Personen zum "all yo can eat". Die Location macht einen guten Eindruck, aber da hört es dann langsam auch auf. Nach der ersten Bestellung (1. Runde) hat es etwas länger gedauert bis die ersten Speisen kamen. Aus der ersten Bestellung sind leider auch nicht alle Speisen gebracht worden. Und genauso zog es sich dann durch den ganzen Abend und alle bestellte Runden. Es fehlten immer wieder bestellte Speisen, die warmen Gerichte waren leider auch lauwarm bis kalt. Wir sprachen die Servicemitarbeiter/innen mehrmals auf die Situation an. Leider änderte sich den ganzen Abend über gar nichts. Wir wurden immer wieder mit der Aussage abgetan, dass sehr viel los wäre und somit kaltes Essen vorkommen kann. Oh WOW dachten wir, krasse Aussage. Man hätte der Restaurantleitung unsere Beschwerde mitgeteilt, doch leider hörten wir von dieser Person gar nichts. Außer, als die 2 Stunden abgelaufen waren, kam er und fragte recht arrogant ob wir denn noch etwas bestellen möchten, wenn nicht sollten wir zahlen. Ok, zweites WOW war unsere erneut negative Erkenntnis. Bei allem nötigen Respekt für die Gastronomie und die Beschäftigten. Aber bei 34,90 € pro Person kann man erwarten, dass geschultes Personal auf die Bedürfnisse des Kunden eingehen und etwaige negative Punkte abstellen. Kaltes Essen??? Ernsthaft??? Nur weil der Laden voll ist??? Als ob es für die Verantwortlichen so ein Wunder und unverhofftes Ereignis ist, dass an einem Samstag Abend in Hamburg, direkt neben dem Winterdom das Restaurant voll ist.... Die Art und Weise, wie man dann mit den Beschwerden umgegangen ist, zeigt einfach nur erneut, "der Fisch fängt immer von Kopf an zu stinken". Aber auch nach der Veröffentlichung dieses Feedback´s wird es leider sein wie immer; der Laden hat solch einen Andrang, dass sich nichts ändern wird. Probably over priced, for what you get, but I guess that's how they make money. We did the all you can eat dinner. It's not like typical all you can eat buffet places. You order off of an Ipad. You can order up to 10 items (for the both of us) every 10 minutes for 10 rounds. They have both sushi and "hot plates." The portions are small, but there were tasty options. The edamame was served cold though. Like, just taken out of the refrigerator, cold, not even room temperature. Maybe that's normal in Germany or for this place, but I found it displeasing. The sushi rolls you order come with 2 pieces (so 2 pieces is 1 item out of your 10). The salmon nigiri was very good. There were large slices of salmon over the rice, and it tasted very fresh. The sushi rolls were good as well. But keep in mind for every piece you do not eat, they will charge you extra. By the end we were forcing ourselves to finish a few sushi rolls so we didn't have to pay extra for them. Drinks are not included, so don't be surprised at the end if your bill is slightly higher than you would pay at any other sushi restaurant. For two people, we ended up paying about 65 Euros for our dinner. We definitely wouldn't spend that much if we went to any other sushi restaurant and ordered individual rolls, however, we also wouldn't have been able to try so many different things. So if you're on a budget, maybe skip this place. The sushi took a long time to arrive. If we ordered sushi in round 2, it would arrive at the same time if not after we had ordered hot dishes in round 3. It also took a long time to find our waiter so we could pay. When one of the servers came and picked up our empty plates, we told him we were ready to pay and he said he would tell his colleague. It took another 10 or so minutes before we even saw our waiter so we could ask to pay again. I took away 2 stars for the slow service and slow food delivery, and the high price. read more

Amusing evening in this cavernous new St Pauli Sushi place. The deal is, you pay a fixed price and can stay for two and half hours, order 10 items every 20 minutes, so there are a few limitations. We were told that it is very rare for anyone to order the full amount, potentially 200 items! But it has been known to happen. Each table is equipped with a red ipad, you order and the dishes start arriving thick and fast, 10 at a time. First we went for salads, all very fresh and delicious, particularly the seaweed salad, and I made a mental note to have more. Twenty minutes later, we ordered the next round, this time warm dishes, all very good and very fresh as you would expect from a place with this rapid a turn around. Highlights were grilled fish. Next round, more or the same, some of the grilled items were delectable, yet came in small portions. Still going strong, we started on the sushi, here there was a slight difference in quality between the hand rolls and the smaller sushi, which I suspect were machine made, so we opted to continue with the fresher hand rolls. This continued until the fifth round when our appetites began to flag, but hey, you do the maths 5 rounds equals 50 items per table of two. No small achievement! Drinks were slightly expensive, but they had some excellent beer on tap. With an offer from Groupon, the total cost of this feast was just over Eu 30, not bad I would say. Service was friendly, efficient and informal. Bottom line, this is not really a sushi restaurant, more of a Pan-Asian, fun house! Don't go there expecting Sushi artistry, you won't find it. What you'll find is a lively venue for a fun evening! Great for a small group, I'd say. I'd go again, but only with an offer! read more

Kofookoo is very spacious and nicely decorated. I liked the high ceiling and the interesting light fixtures. The menu is all you can eat or you can order al a carte. Just so we can try more dishes, we went for the all you can eat. We came at lunch on a weekend so it was 15.90 per person--honestly rather steep for the quality of food. I had a hankering for sushi so we ordered most of the sushi, especially those with the raw fish. The only decent thing was the sake (salmon). The octopus and squid were super chewy and had no flavor. The tuna maki was a little concerning because the rice around the fish had turned pink. That shouldn't happen unless the fish was dyed, or something. Also all the maki tasted like they was pre-made and left out for awhile. We tried the warm dishes and the tofu was the most tasty so we ordered a second one, but it was cut too thick so the center was not warm at all. The best part about the food was the black sesame ice cream; we ordered two portions and ate it with the fried kokos creme and fried banana. We got the fruit salad and it was melon that had obviously been cut and sitting there for some time. The staff was nice and friendly and the service was good and quick. A very good experience in this restaurant. Before I came here, I expected a very hectic all you can eat eatery without any emphasis on ambiance and dining experience. I was wrong and wrong. The restaurant looked really well decorated and it provided a feeling of being in a bar rather than in a restaurant. The ambiance was really cozy, not too loud that people cannot talk to each other, and also not too quiet that people falling asleep. The order mechanism is really unique, as the others have mentioned. As I chose the all you can eat package, I was allowed to choose 5 dishes x 10 rounds (total 50 dishes per person), even though I stopped at round 5. Most of the food were of very high quality, especially the sushi roll and the nigiris, but some others were just so so. They have very good options of drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and I had weizen+ginger and weizen+lemongrass, which I really recommend. The all you can eat package was a little bit expensive at €25, but I think it was really worth it. My friend and I had a really good time there. read more

Pretty poor experience with Kofookoo. Booked a table for a Saturday night way in advance through Yelp reservations. Table for 4 wasn't available on arrival. Restaurant claimed Yelp reservations do not match technically with their reservations system. Since the place was packed they couldn't offer a place at the bar or table in a appropriate time span. This is a great date location with its hip atmosphere and attractive (and competent!) servers. The food is aesthetically pleasing, varied and of a good quality. If you have a larger group though, the volume due to its high ceilings can be a bit overwhelming and the price is quite high though understandable for its location. All in all, a great place to eat when you're in the area! read more
