This was one of the coolest experiences I have ever done before. From the pick up to the drop off at the end, this was hands down one of the best tours I have ever been on. Our guide was knowledgeable, and the scenery and grounds we walked were absolutely stunning. This tour really celebrates the beauty and culture of the Big Island and our guide was the best to make sure we all understood what he was saying. Even though the zipline was fun, learning about the nature on the island and walking around was one of my favorite parts. The zipline was so cool though! It is a mix of starter and long runs. Having had been on zipline before, it was a good course with plenty of great runs where you got to see everything around you for a good period of time before slowing down and stopping. Between the zipline, waterfalls, hiking views, and all of the knowledge we were taught about the nature and beauty of the island, this tour was absolutely worth it. I booked this experience through TripAdvisor although if we were to do it again, I would do it directly. Although we didn't have any major issues, I coordinated with their team to notify them that we would be driving to the starting point on our own, but the guy still called us at the would-be meet up spot near our hotel thinking that we were still taking a shuttle. No biggie. If you do drive, they have a parking lot where you can park your car while you're out and about. It's important that you wear a short sleeve shirt and shorts long enough to be used with the harness. Any extra items that you have, you can bring along in the shuttle, but you just won't take them with you on the course. They told us to get there at eight and the shuttle and most of the other gas didn't arrive until 8:30am. Soon after they gave us the safety guidelines and overall rules for the zip line experience. We were put into our harnesses and given helmets and gloves. Then we all got into the shuttle and drove up to the ropes course starting point. We had Dane & Brogan as our guides. They were totally awesome and super helpful throughout the whole course. Their directions were very clear and ensured everyone was safe and having a really fun time. They were super knowledgeable of the area and even told us more about the local flora and fauna. They also took photos along the way which you could purchase at the end of the trip if you wanted. At the end of the zipline, we got back in the shuttle and drove to a scenic Lookout point of the cliffs in the ocean where we had lunch that was provided by the company: a sandwich (of your choice picked prior to the trip) chips, a cookie, and juice or sparkling water. After our break, we got back in the shuttle and drove to another spot. I wouldn't say it's necessarily a hike, but more of a nature walk down to the waterfall spot. It was beautiful! We had a great time swimming around and going under the waterfall. After we got back in the shuttle and drove to the headquarters. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone traveling to the Big Island! read more

Best zipline on the Big Island! I did a mother-daughter trip and one of the things my 10 year old daughter wanted to do was to zip-line. There are 3 main zip-line places on the Big Island and I researched all of them, watched all the youtube videos, read all the reddit threads and was confident in my choice with Kohala. The entire experience felt super safe. We had two guides the entire time. They had the best stories, were funny, and the zip lines were really fun! This was also my daughter and my first time ziplining. Everything was super professional and we always felt like we were in good hands. Their instructions were clear and their constant guidance inspired complete confidence throughout the entire experience. DAY 2 of Vacation - Starting off strong with our first activity! Zip-lining! None of us have zip-lined before, so we were very excited. Parking: Find the yellow building, follow the arrows, and park in the grass area. Free parking. Service: Shout out to our guides Noi and Kody! They were amazing, knowledgable, and comical! They made us feel safe throughout the tour. Kody was also very knowledgable about the area and gave us a history lesson during the ride up to the location. Noi carefully showed and explained what to do and not do. Activity: After the introductions, Noi and Kody suited us up. Then we got into a van for a 20 min bumpy drive up to the location. I will never get over the scenery here. You can see Maui from the drop off location. There were so many greenery, trees, and plants. We went through long and short zips and walked many different bridges. I am not afraid of heights, but if you are, just don't look down. Photos: They do not offer videos. I purchased a photo package for $20.93. Kody took our photos from an older iPhone with a home button. The photos came out good. Kody took off guard photos, but he also took photos of us when requested. After zip-lining, they email the photos to the primary person within an hour. Pricing: Highly recommend Kohala Zipline! Seriously, our guides Brogan and Kody made this experience amazing. They were by far the best tour guides we have had on any experience on the island. Despite the pouring rain, their pleasant personalities, local knowledge, and zip line expertise made the ziplining tour phenomenal. The course which included 8 zip lines, about 5 bridges, and two short hikes was extremely well designed. The raincoats issued with our safety gear kept us dry in the rain. Throughout the tour, Kody took photos of our group. For just $20, we were able to get all the photos. My husband, sis and I chose this place to experience our first time zip lining and they did not disappoint! Jake and Brenda were our guides. They checked our gear to make sure everyone was strapped in correctly and went over what to expect and the safety rules. They made the whole experience so much fun. And for those of us who were nervous and weak in the knees, they distracted us with good conversation, and photo taking. We thought we were just doing one big zip line but it turned out to be 8 really cool ones, no turning back! They had us standing on platforms situated around tree trunks where we would take off from. Jake and Brenda were diligent in making sure everyone's lines were hooked on and that the rules were being followed. The views of the trees and streams while on the zipline were beautiful. The last one was the best view though. You could see the ocean. There are also bridges we have to cross in between zip lines. I was more nervous crossing a couple of those. But not to worry, the lines are always hooked on to a main cable so we don't fall. The road going there is very very bumpy so for those who get motion sickness be prepared. Boo boo did a great job maneuvering through. We saw a couple wild pigs running around on the drive up and Jake gave us some history about the island. Really cool dude. Visiting Hawaii for the wife and I was a bucket list item. Add in a zip line excursion with a couple of amazing guides like Jake-E and Tami and you pretty much have the one of the best days on the island. Tami took great action shots of both my lovely wife and I as well as provided some interesting island knowledge along the way. Jake-E laid down the "Do's & Don'ts" with some added jokes to keep our minds off of the fact we're 100 feet in the air. (or more!!!) My 10 year old daughter and her 9 year old best friend and I went on a 3 hour zipline tour in Kohala. It was the first time ziplining for all of us and I say first as we all hope to do it again. Decker and Brenda were fantastic. They were patient and very understanding. I went to Kohala today and as someone who is absolutely terrified of heights, I had a great time. There's some scary parts for sure, but I never felt more reassured as safe! Our guides Noi and Brogen were so fun and so comforting to have. The zip line takes you through some beautiful foliage and you learn some wonderful facts about the surrounding wildlife!
