Once we sat in his office, the doctor scribbled notes on a piece of paper, turned his back to us, and then handed us this seriously unreadable "report" (for lack of a better word). A few days later, after all attempts to decipher said notes were unsuccessful, I called the office requesting type-written notes be mailed to us. Followed up with the Administrator today to hear "I told the doctor what you requested. You need to follow up if you don't receive those notes in the mail". Wow. Clearly this office is under the impression it's the patients job to 1) discern unreadable notes, or 2) request type-written notes and 3) follow up when said notes are not delivered. A truly stunning lack of follow through and patient care. Unbelievable.

Alexis Murray is the BEST. She is very attentive, lets you fully explain yourself & your concerns, speaks to you so respectfully, doesn't gaslight you & tries to see things your way so that she can better understand you, & she respects your personal beliefs, & does not come off judgmental nor does she make you feel stupid. Lately we have been going to see Alexis Murray for my son almost once monthly. She is always so patient and detailed with us. She explains herself very well & lets us as parents feel safe enough to ask her many questions & figure out how to go about things in regard to my son's health. She also is so reassuring and makes us feel safe!!! She is a gem there. Astrid is a medical assistant there at Primary Medical and she was also very attentive with son. She made him feel very comfortable and made him laugh. When you have little kids all the little things matter & when they take the extra steps to make sure your child is comfortable it puts us as parents at ease. Billing dept mgr and scribe says my spouse has low back pain. He takes an occasional Advil after riding over 40 miles on his bicycle and up in the mountains at 76 yr old. Dr Williams asked me if I took calcium/D3. I have NEVER been D3 deficient and started taking calcium with D3 in it in when 50 years old as Dexa scan said a bit of osteopenia which has changed little in 25 years. We simply answered Dr Williams questions and I asked her to check my husband's hearing. The scribe and Billing Mgr will write in anything they can (true or not) to charge you extra! It was all routine exam, eyes, ear, throat heart, lung, and breast exam for me. No internal exams. We will be changing doctors asap and refuse to pay extra fees for routine exams and to answer questions. We are healthy, exercise, eat right, and NOT overweight. We reported them to Aetna FRAUD dept! I notified Dr Williams. She will be retiring in 2 years she told me. AVOID THIS GROUP with offices located in Ventura and Oxnard. This is the first time they started UPCHARGING despite going there for several years for our physicals/wellness visit!

Dr. Robert (Bob) Dodge's office is located in the 5-story building across the street from Community Memorial Hospital in mid-town Ventura. There is a 3 story parking structure below the building that offers free parking. Dr. Dodge's office is located in unit 502. There's 2 doors then enter into the same building. So here we are on the day of my new patient exam, 2/29/15 @1000. I arrive at 0950 and sign onto a sheet. At the front desk sat, Rosie-one of the receptionist who didn't seem warm and welcoming. After about 10 minutes Nicole, registered me into the system and collected my co-pay. Within 5 minutes I was called back by Hannah, who I'm assuming is the MA, proceeded in taking my temp, weight and vitals-she also performed pre-appt questions to get a better gage for my visit. She then walked me to the exam room where I waited another 5-10 minutes for Dr. Dodge. My first impression of Dr. Dodge is that he is very warm-welcoming. He has great energy and displays true passionate, concern about your care. He actively listens as you voice your concerns and reiterates back to you. I like that he was consistent in asking if I had any questions, to make sure I understood his recommendations. The overall physical/assessment appointment was about 30 minutes, and then I was done. I would recommend Dr. Dodge to anyone looking for a new primary care physician. I'm happy to have finally found a primary care physician that actually cares and who is quite knowledgeable.

I had an endoscopy today. I called yesterday to discuss whether to use sedation, and one staff…read moremember told me about how if I chose to do it without sedation, Dr Pedraza is the perfect doctor to do it with, because he would walk me through it. She gave me tips of what to do (focus on breathing and keep my head down) She had done 2 endoscopies without sedation. I went back and forth about it and then spoke to a nurse called Kim a couple of times. She discussed all my options like she was a friend. These people were so patient and so helpful when I was stressed out and taking up their time, that I felt cared for and calmer. Today I was set up to try without sedation, and if needed, get sedated. Dr. Pedraza patiently listened to my scared, pain in the neck, waffling thoughts, and then when we started the endoscopy, he encouraged me with eye contact, meditative breathing and non stop words of encouragement. I was able to do it without sedation, and knew it was totally because of him. I will have to have a second endoscopy in a couple of months and will try this again . Meanwhile I just am in awe of how human and nice and encouraging Dr. Pedraza and his staff are. It is nice and rare to have a combination of top quality medical expertise and decent human kindness and patience. You may not choose to do this without sedation, but you will still be dealing with kind, extremely skilled, staff! You can't go wrong with choosing this doctor and his support people.

New insurance...new doctor. Sounds like fun, huh?…read more For a couple years I have been going to the Airport Urgent Care in Oxnard and had mixed experiences. When I got my new insurance I had to choose a new doctor and Dr. Alcocer with the Spanish Hills Medical group was recommended by my wife's doctor. I was a little worried when I called in mid January to make an appointment and they had to schedule me in mid February. They explained later on that one of the doctors in the group had just retired and that the other doctors had to make up for all those extra patients. They gave me a call the day before to confirm my appointment and told me to come in a few minutes early to fill out paperwork. I arrived 15 minutes early, filled out a stack of paperwork and then waited to be called. They called me in about 5 minutes later. Woah. 5 minutes...that's awesome. I had an awesome nurse who took all my vitals and got me ready for my appointment and then about 5 minutes later I was visited by Dr. Alcocer. He had an amazing demeanor. He seemed like he was not in a rush at all...he acted like he wanted to know everything about me and what he could do to help me with my regular issues like my asthma. He gave me all the prescriptions that I needed with 6 months of refills so I didn't have to worry about waiting for my pharmacy to call in for authorization. That was such a relief from my previous doctor. All in all the whole appointment took maybe 20 minutes, 30 minutes tops. I was completely impressed with the whole experience and I look forward to having the Spanish Hills Medical Group and Dr. Alcocer on my side when it comes to my health. :0)

What kind of medical professional would decline services to a patient for not being vaccinated? Dr. Neira is a great doctor but unfortunately, I had to switch to another clinic where they are willing to see me in person. This is just ridiculous and inhumane.
