So many sides! Cabbage, Rae's collards, sweet potato corn bread, rice & peas, La Brea corn, saffron yellow rice. Also yummy hot sauces.

Koko+Rae has added a friend: Mom's Kitchen. You might wonder whether a restaurant that serves both Caribbean and Indian food is a good idea; wonder no more: it is. Upon arriving we were greeted effusively and guided through the menu options. The chef is vegan (!!) and came to the front of house to describe several customized, plant based dishes (not on the menu). We ordered the red bean curry and the curried spinach, as well as vegan samosas and everything was GLORIOUS. Wonderful, complex flavors, cooked to perfection, and delivered at the correct temperature (nice and toasty). Portion size is very appropriate for the quality and price. Based on this experience I would absolutely go back for the food, but even more so the people - so kind, so thoughtful. They truly went above and beyond to ensure our entire experience was unique and memorable (in a very good way).

The food and service is amazing. Please try this place out. This place has the best chicken and bourbon yams.

    Buffet on Thursday

The buffet was fantastic! The butter chicken was so tender, delicious, and perfect blend of spice! Tiki marsala so good and if you don't care for much spice this it an excellent choice! Collard greens, Mac and cheese with nan as side so good! Excellent service! Will be back again!

I loved Koko+ Rae when it initially opened and I had been hesitant to try again after the restaurant was bought. Joe took my order and told me about all the menu and new management, very kind and welcoming. The food is 10/10 just as good if not better than the original place. The Caribbean food is phenomenal!

We tried this new Caribbean food restaurant and had an amazing experience. It was our first time trying this style of food, and everything exceeded expectations. The beef patty was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The restaurant was exceptionally clean, very inviting, and had a fun atmosphere. The service was excellent and made us feel welcome from start to finish. We'll definitely be back! Judy -Columbus Ohio.

"You know the vibes" & it was exactly that! Loved our first visit here. Tasha was awesome & it was truly a pleasure getting to talk to her. We loved the food. Our favorites were the sweet potatoes, greens & the jerk chicken with the jerk sauce. It was exactly what we hoped it would be. 10/10 recommend. Plus my sisters name is Kaylee & we call her kaekae *Rae :) what more of a sign did we need. Also wanted to mention We loved the space & the bathrooms were clean & bright. Thanks KoKo+Rae

Loved my first visit to Koko+Rae, and I'm excited to see how this new Bardstown Road restaurant continues to grow. When I visited last month for lunch, they had some of their menu available, with the rest to roll out soon, we were told. I ordered the jerk chicken with corn, collards and cornbread. The chicken had great flavor. The entire meal was so filling -- pure comfort food goodness. Our service was friendly and fast. I also loved how bright and welcoming this spot is. I will be back to try more on the menu!

Delicious carribean food! I got the jerk chicken, collards and Mac and cheese. The jerk chicken was spicy but bearable and omg it was SO JUICY! I can't stand dry jerk chicken and you will not get it here! The collards were good and I ended up waiting for the macaroni to get out of the oven and the wait was worth it as it was bubbling and cheesy! My husband got oxtail which were tender and had good flavor but too chewy. The corn, rice and peas and sweet potatoes were ordered as well and were hits as well. I'd 100% recommend and go back.

Immediate review! I'm still sitting here in the restaurant, it's that good. I'm actually thinking about ordering seconds for tomorrow. Customer service and ambiance is amazing as well, and fast. Definitely one of the best spots on Bardstown Rd.

I'm a big time lover of Caribbean food & Koko+Rae did not disappoint! Its a smaller place with dining inside and out. The set up is similar to chipotle, you walk up to the counter and place an order, they assemble the food in front of you, and you are passed down to the person at the register. The service was great, the employees greeted us when we arrived and before we left. The gentleman at the counter was helpful and gave recommendations and even pointed out the vegan jackfruit they have! The food was delicious however it is true jerk chicken and has a bit of a kick to it. I loved it and would happily get it again, although next time I'd buy an extra water! If sensitive to spice I'd recommend trying something else on the menu. The saffron rice was delish and flavor packed. I also got their fruit flavored tea and absolutely *loved* it. It was a good balance of tea flavors and fruity. Definitely on the sweet side, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Final thoughts: I'm so glad this place has opened up & I am excited to return with my meat eater friends & vegan friends!

This place is amazing. The oxtail, macaroni, and yams were delicious. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was calm.

Huge portions of authentic Caribbean food. The plantains are good, but the chicken and goat curry are tops!

No greeting, just behaving as if they're mildly annoyed. I hadn't been there before so of course I had questions, but she looked at me as if I was dim witted. So yeah. I ordered and paid cash and she didn't give me my change. And I ordered a drink that was out of stock and she didn't return my money and told me to pick something else instead. Now the food (jerk wings, Mac n cheese, rice and peas) was also subpar, kinda greasy, spicy without true flavoring and nothing special at all. I will never return and do not recommend.

I'll take the blame for not checking behind the young girl who bagged it up for me. Always check behind teenagers! My other favorite has always been the fried Snapper...I noticed the price increase to $30 but it's so good so I ordered it again. Big mistake! It was over cooked, under seasoned and honestly frightening to look at, the mac and cheese (meh) and I have never been a fan of the plantains. Maybe I'll try again bc when it's good, it's great but I don't appreciate driving out of my way only to be disappointed.

I've only been once, but we'll be back. We ordered and enjoyed the jerk chicken and curry goat. The chicken's jerk seasoning was very nicely balanced, served on a bed of rice and beans. The goat was excellent, though the bits of bone pose a bit of a challenge. We couldn't leave without trying a patty, and I might just fill up on those next time. If you get a side or two, be sure to try the cabbage. For the less adventurous, they serve burgers and fries too. Order and pay at the counter. No, there is no rooftop view. They need to get help so they can keep up with demand. I went around 1:45 and was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour depending on what I wanted. Next thing that was disappointing was the portions. I got the tiniest helping of cabbage and plantains. It was sad for a dinner portion. Cabbage doesn't cost much so they could've given more then they do. With that this place isn't an absolute must to try. Bright colors everywhere, from the outside facade as I entered, to the chairs, tropical plants, the "Azucar!" mural with dangling vines, the dinner plates, the menu, and the food itself. My waiter Pedro was great, and checked on me frequently. In fact all the staff were great, neatly dressed in black, most wearing hats, making friendly greetings as I passed, holding doors, etc. Complimentary bread was brought. It was a good mini loaf, fresh and warm, and accompanied by two compound butters, guava and cilantro. I'm not a butter fan but I did try them for review purposes and they were interesting. The bread also helped extend my appetizer-portion ceviche, soaking up the spicy liquid. The ceviche portion was actually generous for the price and with the bread just what I needed for lunch. Medium-size shrimps in spicy tomato-lime sauce with cilantro, raw onions, micro-greens, and orange-yellow edible flowers on top. Served with tostones instead of the usual chips. These thick fried slices of green plantain were salty, soft in the middle and crispy on the outside, a perfect accompaniment. The outdoor covered patio area was packed with diners, loud with Cuban music in a good way, vines (plastic?) everywhere , chandeliers and straw lampshades on the ceiling, with large fans and a misting device controlling the heat. A small bird visited my table as I ate, politely sitting for a bit on the other chair. A comfortable place where you'd want to hang out a long while if you had the time, which I didn't. I also had a mojito, cold, minty, limey (real limes) and refreshing. A bit sweet to my liking but definitely strong. I love Cuban food, and I wish I could have tried more of the large and intriguing menu. I didn't even get a dessert, just an excellent Café Cubano without sugar (so an espresso really), served in an elegant Victorian-style gilded espresso cup and saucer (see photo). Chipped, but that just adds to the charm.
