This establishment is cash only, and you have to order quickly when they open if you want something like oxtails.. they will run out quickly. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the yum yum style sauce over all my food. I think it's good without it.

This was a hole in the wall restaurant I stumbled upon! I got the jerk tacks and they were very flavorful and spicy. And additionally, I got plantains with a friend. I would check this place out again!

We finally made it over to Open Caribbean Kitchen. This place has been on our list to try for a few months & it did not disappoint! Service was great, food was incredible. We pulled up right out front & parked. We walked in, placed our order to go, & waited about 10-15 minutes. While we were waiting a few other people came in to pick up their to go orders. And a few others came in to place their to go orders. We ordered the jerk chicken wings dinner with rice & veggies, as well as the oxtail dinner with rice & potatoes. Each item was full of flavor & absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the jerk chicken wings. They were juicy, flavorful, & the perfect amount. And that sauce on the rice? Amazing. We will definitely be back!

I'm going to ruffle some feathers with this one, but skip the plates and get the tacos. The plate wasn't bad at all, it's just that the taco was mind blowing. I tried the shrimp taco and I'm excited to go back and try the chicken. I think the price for the plate is just a little high compared to the tacos. I did take away an additional star for the service. I was the only one there to pick up, and the lady kept talking over me or just ignoring me. I felt like I was unwanted there, and the way she spoke to the DoorDash drivers gave me the vibe that this is how it always is. It is a little pricey, but if you're getting the tacos, I would say it's worth it. This spot has a dining room, but with the hostile vibe, I wouldn't encourage staying there. They also have a cash only sign but I ordered online. Overall, I have mixed feelings, but would consider going back to pick up tacos.

This chicken has me in a chokehold.... it's so delicious I have to have it a few times a month. The portions are hefty as you can see from the picture. Well worth the price as it makes 2 meals for me. I don't eat left overs usually but I do with this. The savory sauce on the rice and veggies seasoned to perfection are sure to hit the spot. It's always a welcoming environment when I go to pick it up. Definitely give them a try if you are looking for a taste of the Caribbeans. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

The food is very good and portions are really nice however it becomes pricey when you opt for a staple traditional side like rice and beans or cabbage (which is fire!!). I understand an upcharge for upgrading from white rice and mixed vegetables, but to pay the cost of a side is a bit much. I would definitely recommend checking them out, but be ready to spend between $70 & $100 for two ppl. They may see me again.

Just try the Jerk Chicken Tacos. Just try them. Don't look at the menu, just walk up to the counter and order the tacos. A single order will feed two. I can't begin to tell you how good they are.

Absolutely incredible! I love Caribbean food and Open Caribbean Kitchen is one of the best if not thee best that I have ever had in Louisville. Highly recommend the Oxtail meal. Jackie did a great job of discussing the sauces with me and I loved every recommendation she provided. Extremely helpful and made me feel very welcome!

Oxtails shrimp and steak combo on the left. Chicken and shrimp hibachi on the right Caribbean Beef Patties

Food was hot, fresh, well marinated and seasoned. The beef patties are the best I've had in a very long time. I ordered the chicken and shrimp hibachi. It was too much food for one person and it is seasoned all the way through. I also ordered the oxtail, shrimp and steak plate with rice. The rice was seasoned, the steak was tender and well seasoned. The oxtails were I've been looking for some good carribean for a while and this place hit the spot. Thank you!

This food was fire, and I drive almost 25 minutes to come and eat here. They are only doing curbside right not but they have the menu outside with a number to order. You will not be disappointed eating here. It's one of my favorite places to eat. The flavor, the friendly customer service and the authentic dishes are amazing.

Prices are expensive, however the portions are HUGE which makes the prices worth it. The hibachi chicken is amazing!

You can tell they actually care about the food they're putting out. It's a little small inside and parking is in the back if I remember correctly. It's low-key genius that they have Caribbean and Indian food together. I got the jerk chicken bowl. My daughter tried the the veggie biryani with garlic naan. We also grabbed a side of yams, I would actually die for them. Also, the plantains were perfectly sweet and caramelized. It's giving authentic, it's giving flavor, it's giving "I'm coming back next week." (I wish), we need this in California. I've only been once, but we'll be back. We ordered and enjoyed the jerk chicken and curry goat. The chicken's jerk seasoning was very nicely balanced, served on a bed of rice and beans. The goat was excellent, though the bits of bone pose a bit of a challenge. We couldn't leave without trying a patty, and I might just fill up on those next time. If you get a side or two, be sure to try the cabbage. For the less adventurous, they serve burgers and fries too. Order and pay at the counter. No, there is no rooftop view. They need to get help so they can keep up with demand. I went around 1:45 and was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour depending on what I wanted. Next thing that was disappointing was the portions. I got the tiniest helping of cabbage and plantains. It was sad for a dinner portion. Cabbage doesn't cost much so they could've given more then they do. With that this place isn't an absolute must to try. If I'm in area and got time on my hands I might go back for curry chicken but otherwise I won't be back.

We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!
