Our German Shepherd is absolutely beautiful and looks exactly like what most people picture when they think of the breed. He was raised around other dogs his entire life, which makes it even more concerning that he eventually developed severe aggression and snapped unexpectedly. Looking back, there were several red flags during our experience with this breeder. The breeder seemed more focused on bragging about the father's legacy and reputation than discussing temperament or behavioral stability. The kennel environment was extremely loud, and many of the dogs appeared possessive, reactive, and poorly socialized. Based on our personal experience, we would never trust dogs from this breeder around children or other animals. We believe there are serious issues with the breeding practices and temperament being produced. People looking for a family dog should be extremely cautious and do extensive research before purchasing from this breeder. read more

We purchased our 2nd GSD from Kolenda in March 2022. We have had 5 GSD'S in total. Our last 2 have been from Kolenda. They have been our best, hands down. They are gorgeous dogs, excellent temperament, and healthy. Both our dogs loved people, were/are great in public and loved other dogs. our current dog goes to doggie day camp once a week just so she can play with other dogs because she loves them so much. I have owned GSD's and have breed them. I have never known a GSD that was afraid of people, especially family members. The bloodlines of Kolenda Kennels, are high drive and excellent temperament! I would question Alexis M. Review of how her dog was trained, because if it was not trained right, it would have the issues as have been described. Also the dog requiring two knee surgeries, I would bet 100% it was over worked when trained. That is not the fault of Kolenda Kennels, that sell top notch GSD's with excellent drive, temperament and obedience. I have a 4 month old GSD from Kolenda Kennels that I am personally training all in German commands and she is doing great. Kolenda Kennels can't be responsible for the dogs after they go to their new homes! Also you have to be careful not to overwork them as a puppy, because it causes so many health issues! read more

I purchased a German shepherd from kolenda 15 years ago. She was a daughter of roony also! The best dog I ever had! She just passed away last weekend in her sleep and was healthy her whole life. it was her age that was the reason. Watch Out! Beautiful dogs but my well trained and well loved Shepherd is terrified of all humans (including my children and husband) and has to have not one but 2 knee surgeries. They do not support their own warranty. If you buy a dog here, write in knee problems, behavior problems and extend the hip warranty to 5 years old. read more

We have had seven GSDs, but the last one that came from Kollenda was by far the most amazing one ever. He was so intelligent and so involved in everything that went on. He went to the office with my husband every day and never was a problem to anyone. He had a wonderful sense if people were hesitant about him and would never force himself on anyone. He was a great pal to our 2 cats, even sharing his crate with them. So my husband called to try to arrange a meeting to see the facility. A very rude person explained that all litters were sold even on upcoming ones. Unfortunately someone forgot to update the website because it shows available puppies. We are just shopping at this point and wanted to get a feel of the different breeders in the area and see the breeding dogs. This condescending arrogant person said the best they could do is take a deposit on some upcoming litter in the future and even then they can't promise anything. Geez me thinks they are hiding something. At the price they are charging for these GSDs you would think they'd be a little more gracious and inviting. They should have just not answered the phone. We purchased a puppy from Taifun and Vala's litter. We have had him for a week now. Things are going great. He's learning very quickly and is a great addition to our family! Susan and John were very helpful and answered all our questions along the way. We enjoyed getting our weekly updates and pictures of him. I was very impressed with their kennel. I was pleased to see they keep all their dogs on their property, including Taifun. They showed us around when we arrived to pick up our puppy and spent quite a bit of time answering all our questions. We purchased our GSD from Kolenda three years ago. Our girl is the daughter of Rooney and is the finest animal I have ever known. She is a delight to have around, her temperament is kind and jovial, she has taught our smaller dog to play rough and tumble, yet our GSD has never hurt her, not once. The dogs from Kolenda are outstanding and I would recommend them without hesitation. Quality comes at a cost, you will pay more for a Kolenda dog, but you will not regret the decision.
