I stopped by Konark Grocers initially to try the food establishment, Desi Bites, inside the store. But with the 50 minute wait for my food, I decided to check out the grocery store to see what they had. They have a variety of prepared food, frozen food, fresh fish, fresh groceries, snacks, incense, spices, etc. I was not looking at the prices, since I was not actually shopping for anything, but this store looks fully stocked with lots of goodies. My boyfriend and I always have trouble finding good garlic but this place has got it! The next time we need fresh garlic we are coming here! There were a lot of people shopping in the fresh grocery section picking up vegetables. The locals know the secret of this place. All these butt hurt indians talking crap about this place because they're so cheap that not seeing prices hurts them to their souls. They don't realize that prices from suppliers probably change so often it doesn't make sense for the management to constantly change signs and labels to reflect what their suppliers charge. I'm an Indian as well from Chicago and to be honest Konark has great pricing that is more than fair. Plus there's a bonus food court area serving up some delicious Indian street food much like at Patel Brother's on Devon Avenue in Chicago. This place is great. Don't let these morons sway you from going here. The people that work there do their best and their passion shows. All their produce is fresh and great quality and once again their pricing is great compared to other places in the Des Moines area. read more

I like this store. You cannot expect an Indian store to be very professional but you get a lot of things here. I do think they should get training from Americans on customer service. The biggest problem I have with this store is that there are no prices listed for most of the products. I consider that to be cheating the customer. It seems like their way to make you buy things and then at checkout, you either don't pay attention to the cost or you don't fee like returning the item so you buy it. read more

Subbu Varanasi 04-13-2021 Mutton biriyani for my wife. Vegetable biriyani for myself. Chicken 65-appetizer for us both. Pongal as a Ugadi gift from the cooks. Out meal was superb. Pongal was dynamite. The cooks are friendly and they always do a great job. I love this store. Staff are always trying to accommodate. They always try to get me my Crane vakkapodi from Omaha or wherever. Great store. Good people. I wish them the best. Happy Ugadi. read more

Pricing is horrible after they started the dine in restaurant. A cycle brand agarbatti costs around $20 when the same pack costs $6 in other Indian stores. They increased the price of appetizers few weeks ago from $10 to $12. Now from this week they decreased the quantity of food as well. What a disaster. read more

Terribly rude customer service. Hardly stocked on anything. It's a big store filled with nothing. when we asked the only staff about availability of certain things, he retorted back at us and asked how many times we've been at the store. Great stop for tasty samosas and medu vadas. A lot of Indian options and a cafe that opens around 3pm or so. There's also a section in the back for fruits and vegetables. I honestly don't have a good frame of reference for whether this Indian grocery store is better than others... I just know that it's awesome and convenient for me! read more

Nice little shop, very tidy. Has a nice assortment of frozen dinners and lots of spice blends and various ingredients. Would like to see more snacks, and some more english labeling for non-Indian folks like myself, but that's probably a very Amero-centric entitlement. Really disappointed in this place. Found out about here from friends that there is a new Indian grocery store, so I stopped in. Never been here before the covid19 started..... however what is making me write a bad review is because of their prices. I needed more basmati rice as we do eat it a lot. I am a huge supporter of small businesses and always am rotating around to the different Indian grocery stores. This one however was horrible! Usually the royal basmati rice I buy is 20 pounds and ranges from $20 to $25 which is very reasonable for that rice. Here though they are ripping people off. First of all they didn't have any 20 pounds bags, that is fine and understandable. They also have a limit due to the virus and that I understand too. I do not understand why they have their prices so high and NOT listed anywhere! The same with all of the atta flour they sell. Then I understood when I went to check out.... I saw their sign of no returns.... that is fine, so I asked how much is the rice and atta.... the 10 pound bag, I figured would be $10 to $12 maybe.... nope, $20 (TWENTY DOLLARS) for the small bag! The atta was $15 for what I usually pay about $8 to $12. I had them put both back! And I noticed later on my receipt how many things are more expensive than other places in Des Moines, even now with the virus going around. read more

The owners care little about customer service. The checkout line is often not staffed, so customers are standing in line waiting for a staff member to scan the items. Even if the line is 10 customers deep, I have never seen them start a second scan station. read more
