I had searched a different Asia supermarket earlier in the day and while that place had the brand that he was looking for, they didn't have the exact flavor that he was looking for. Sakuraya had it, and they were selling for a better price too than the other place that I had gone to earlier. They also had lots of 2 for the price of X number of dollars deals, and a good variety of brands to choose from as well. I picked up 3 boxes of the curry that my husband wanted and while I was there, I picked up a few drinks as well and a big bottle of Light Soy Sauce. If you're not fussy about best before dates, this is a great place to shop cuz they have so many great deals on products that are expired or expiring soon. After all, "Best Before" does not mean "No good after" right?!

Not to mention, cold food suddenly sounds more appetizing than hot food when battling the summer heat. With all of this in mind, I decided to head to Sungiven Foods and grab a couple of those onigiris that I'd had my eye on for awhile. I bought a Cooked Salmon Onigiri for my daughter and a Cream Cheese Unagi Onigiri for myself. They had some boxes of interesting ramen noodles on display. Vegetable Ramen noodles and they appeared to be in all sorts of different colours. I was so intrigued by this. I gotta say, they do carry some interesting selection at Sungiven Foods. Couldn't resist so I bought a box and brought it home. The Onigiri was pretty good. I didn't really taste much cream cheese but that was a plus for me as it was really the Unagi filling that I was more interested in, and I could taste plenty of Unagi in my Onigiri. Oh, and I stopped by the Suntea stall to grab a Milk Tea because on the first and last day of each month, Suntea members can buy a large Milk Tea for $3.99 and it happened to be the first day of the month. Got mine with less ice and 50% sweetness. Very impressed. I think they are more known for their fleshy fruit drinks but their milk tea is very impressive as well.

This spot is not my least favorite location and there are some helpful senior staff but they also have some staff here that would actually answer your questions with "I don't know" or "dunno, hmm, can you ask the other staff..." as if that's an acceptable service expectation at T&T...Tina would not be pleased. Food-wise, their sushi section is usually well stocked and their uni sashimi is quite fresh when they do carry uni. Though i should note that their uni sashimi are priced higher than Sungiven. The dessert and pastries section here are decent where you can find a whole cake for special occasions and pretty looking desserts and their hot foods section could consider adding more variety to its menu. Regardless of its store name, it is a solid supermarket, well stocked with Asian products including quality T&T branded snacks, korean beauty brands plus fresh fruits and plenty of food varieties.

I picked up something called Coconut Shake. Also came home with a lemon for 79 cents. Places like Superstore may have larger selection but their prices can be ridiculously high. I like these smaller markets that carry fresh foods for signficantly less than big box retailers. Service was good too. I accidentally left my keychain (with keys attached) at the cashier register. I was so happy and relieved when the lady from the cash register ran out and told me that I'd left my keys. So glad that my keys were noticed very quickly and that the lady was able to catch me before I ended up straying too far.

The inside is definitely bare bones and on the smaller side. However, it was full of customers. They're doing something right. They have Korean snacks and produce. Special mention to their dedicated kimchi and ready to eat food section, which have items like tteokbokki (starch roles in sauce) and kimbap. Oh so tasty. Another thing worth mentioning - they have sashimi grade fish, and as of the time of writing, it is much cheaper than T&T. My only real complaint is that the checkout area is set up rather poorly. I just saw a pile of people by the counters and assumed I was in the lineup. Turns out the lineup actually goes down the aisle that is closest to the wall. Pro tip. This place is definitely on my radar now. Will be back more often to empty my wallet. Recommended.

The Onigiri were packed with filling. I fell in love with Kombu onigiri the first time I bought it from Suzuya and it's still my favorite one. The Tuna Mayo handroll...I took a knife and split it in half so my daughter and I could share it. I found this to be just OK. The filling in this seemed a bit sparse compared with the amount of filling that was in the onigiri. Overall though, I think it's all pretty good for $2.49 each. I don't know many other places where you can get these kinds of Japanese eats for that kind of price. So glad this place is nearby for us!
