Couple of pints of Sapporo on their lovely patio

Lovely little patio inside a hidden courtyard was what drew us here and the food was also good enough to promise a second visit with some friends. It's not easy to find quaint patios like this one serving up Asian fares in the Durham region and this was such a great addition to our rotation of go-to restaurants. We wanted to try as many items off the menu and everything we ordered from the sashimi to chicken karaage were well prepared. The ramen could have used more umami depth for my liking but it was still decent. We look forward to coming back here to try other items from the menu soon!

Torched Unagi and Tofu pocket with Salmon were really good. Love the ambiance too. Service was very good too.

Had a great time at this wonderful establishment!! All the appetizers that I had were a hit! I will say that the waitress was very helpful and explained the menu in great detail which I appreciated dearly. Overall great restaurant, and the food is well plated and priced!!! I recommend you try the Fire dragon roll!

Closest decent Japanese restaurant in Pickering village. Lot of parking spots and located the courtyard area in Pickering village. Food is decent but price is a bit expensive for a lunch menu

The sushi Gods must've heard me crying over not having any box pressed sushi in Durham region and in comes Koo Izakaya! I have really missed good sushi during the pandemic as commute to downtown core ceased so this was heavenly and very much worth it. They are located in the middle of Pickering Village and has both indoor and outdoor courtyard sitting available. The Torched pressed Spicy Salmon was divine as was the Fire Dragon Roll. Highly recommend that you give it a try if you have also been missing good sushi in Durham. Opened only two weeks ago so they are bound to get very busy soon. Btw - the gyoza I can take it or leave it.

I tried the sushi here while visiting Pickering village, really fresh and delicious. I want to try more on their menu in the future.

Ended up going to the patio location and there's more dishes available dine (to my delight). Server was super sweet and service was really nice. Sushi and sashimi was melt in your mouth and so fresh!! Lots of cavier. Really liked the vibe indoors and outdoors dining. I would recommend the spicy sashimi salad, torched sushi and the special maki rolls. We got the white dragon and it was amazing! Usually for tapas, the portions are small but here the portions are larger than usual. Ah and don't forget to get the fresh moriwase...

I recently had dinner with a friend at their Ajax location and we may have over-indulged, but it was hard to resist all the goodness featured on their menu. As we dined, their robot passed our table several times, delivering dishes to other tables, including things we could/should have ordered. It all looked so good! Our over-indulgence included too many dishes to mention but they included sushi, sashimi, udon, tempura, maki, dim sum, and much more. Of course, we had to have some desserts - fried bananas, puddings, ice cream, and more! We were so stuffed, and happy. It was an excellent meal, with delicious food, and excellent service!

Dine in at this restaurant, spend at least $50 on your meal, and get a $10 voucher off your bill till May 9, 2026. - This eatery has an all-you-can-eat ice cream bar! This past Monday evening, I broke out of the house to have a dinner feast with a friend. We ordered a lot off the menu, guilty of eating with our eyes. I used to drop by this eatery maybe fifteen years ago fairly often. It was nice to return. I had no problem finding a parking spot fairly close to the main entrance. I backed into a spot and walked into the restaurant. We got these drinks: - Sapporo draft 20 oz - Diet Coke Refills on pop are free. I certainly took advantage of it! So refreshing. We ordered these goodies: - Garden salad - Gyoza (dumpling) (2 pcs) - Beef skewer (1 pc) - Fried calamari (2 pcs) - Pork cutlet - Enoki beef roll (2 pcs) - Yakitori (chicken) (1 pc) - Negimayaki (beef) (2 pcs) - Squid tempura (5 pc) - Crab tempura (1 pc) - Siu mai (2 pc) - Thai chicken coconut curry - Spicy California roll (6 pcs) - Mushroom tempura (2 pcs) - Coconut shrimp (1 pc) - Chicken with bao bun (1 pc) - Har gow (2 pc) - Chicken with mushroom - Beef udon - Chicken teriyaki - Beef with broccoli - Dynamite handroll (1 pc) - Crab pizza (4 pcs) - Spicy Crab handroll (1 pc) - Spicy crab on chip (1 pc) - Grilled butterfish sushi (1 pc) - Crab sushi (1 pc) - Beef short ribs (3 pcs) - Beef steak Delicious food! I could rave for hours on how yummy everything was. I will spare you! Highlights: - This place does tempura well. Crispy, without the oiliness. - The Thai chicken coconut curry was excellent. It had a bit of heat and I dipped everything in that amazing coconut curry. - Any protein on a skewer will not disappoint. - Chicken and mushrooms was a comforting dish. - The two hand rolls were excellent! There was only one dish that wasn't great. It was the beef steak that was more on the chewy side. There's something for everyone at this eatery. I thought that I couldn't shovel any dessert after our feast. I saw the all-you-can-eat ice cream bar and my stomach ignored now full it felt. I'd return for the desserts alone. We enjoyed these desserts: - Fried bananas (2 x 2 pcs) - Ice cream (orange, cotton candy, cookies and cream) - Tiramisu cake - Mini macaroon - Coconut pudding - Mango pudding - Creamsicle pudding The ice cream bar is the perfect end to your meal. My friend said to put the fried bananas in with the ice cream, which tastes like a banana split. He was right! This place has a couple of sushi robots. One had a cat face, which brought a birthday dessert to someone celebrating that evening. The other one was shorter and didn't have any face on it. I used the washroom before I left. The circular mirror with flowers on the counter were nice touches. I had a great time. It was nice returning for a fabulous dinner with great company. (150)

The quality and seasoning of meat were great. The spicy shrimp was lovely. The miso salmon was nice and soft. The same clams were lacking a little flavour and there were no vermicelli. The fries, takoyaki, wings and cheesy corn were great. I was surprised to see takowasa. It was not bad but could use more of the crunchy veggies and more wasabi flavours. The bibimbap was meatless and could use more sauce but the rice and egg was perfect. They offered a good Melona variety. The creme brulee was ordered to torch and came in a legit ramekin but I wished the sugar crust was thicker. Great service and environment. I did find the seats a bit cramped especially when sharing the middle booth. We were reminded of the 1.5hr last call and 2hr seating limit a few times though. And also reminded that if we cannot finish the food that we should set it aside... Overall, happy to see a nice AYCE BBQ place make it further into Durham!

An ordinary dining experience at Odine…read more I'm quite disappointed with the overall evening I had, from the food to the atmosphere. The restaurant is in dire need of some love and care. It's dated and old with way too much signage. The booths are covered with taped flyers denoting tons of sales and specials. If you have to slash prices in your items and advertise so aggressively your business may be doing badly. Why is there an awkwardly placed drink fridge at the front door? There's signs of damage and disrepair all across the restaurant. It's in badly need of being fixed up and renovated. The bathrooms are filthy, cobwebs and dead bugs everywhere. The light switch is covered with grime. The air vent may be a fire hazard with the caked on dust. The food doesn't fair much better. It's average at best and priced too high for the lower quality of ingredients. I ordered the Maki Set which was coming apart before it got to my table. The Pad Thai tasted too sweet. The spring rolls and fresh rolls were the only two dishes I enjoyed. Savoury and delicious, and full of flavour. The only redeeming factor was the service. Friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. The servers do need a uniform though, I'm confused why one of them was wearing Adidas sweat pants. Sadly I don't think I'll be back.

We ordered a wonton soup, salmon avocado roll, beef enoki and rice. My husband really enjoyed the wonton soup. He said the wontons were filled with shrimp and chicken and he thought they were good. I ordered the beef enoki with rice as a gluten free dish and really enjoyed it. The beef enoki had a lot of flavour and they provided me with gluten free soya sauce and ginger to go with the appetizer and it tasted scrumptious and the service was pretty good. We shared the salmon avocado roll and it was really fresh and was well priced. Would we return? Possibly if passing through the area.
