Teriyaki beef, 2 shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, rice and fruit

Makimono Japanese Restaurant is a popular all-you-can-eat buffet in Ajax. Expect to come here for good food and attentive service in a relaxed atmosphere. Everyone comes here for their sushi buffet. They also have an extensive "a la carte" menu for those who are looking for something different than the traditional buffet. They serve Appetizers, Special Rolls, Sushi Pizza, Asian Cuisine, Noodles and Udon, and Sushi Love Boats or Sushi Boats and Sashimi Boats They offer many seafood or vegetarian options, dinner entrees and bento options. The meals are made well and are served as good portions It's a great spot to kick back, relax and unwind while having a delicious dinner!

I appreciate good, delicious sushi served at a good price and Makimono in Ajax delivers that. However the experience wasn't perfect because there was a let down in service. I went there on a Friday night and it was understandably busy, and our all-you-can-eat order was quickly coming out of the kitchen. There was a dirty plate that needed to be swapped out but the server replaced it quickly. There's also an adorable Robot Server who roamed the aisles delivering plates of food with the assistance of a human server. As dinner carried on, our meal came to a halt and we sat there for almost 30 minutes until we flagged down a server and informed her of dishes yet to come. Not one person checked up on us during that 30 minutes, or inform us that we would have to wait a bit longer for the rest of our meal. When we asked they said it was "coming soon". A few minutes later, the sushi pizza and two orders of Maki rolls finally arrived. I like the sushi here, it tastes fresh, it's delicious and the plates are artistically arranged. The price is reasonable for all-you-can-eat and the portion sizes are what I would expect for paying that price. I appreciated the decor and the ambiance, while nothing elaborate, the eye catching sun-like display in the ceiling caught my attention. I would come back, just don't make me wait for it.

Lunch AYCE.

It was my first time trying AYCE at Makimono. My mom and I went for lunch. We ordered lots of different dishes to try off the iPad. They had lots of options (surprising, because some places have a limited menu for lunch AYCE, as opposed to dinner). Quality of food and portions were great. They have a self serve ice cream station, with lots of mini desserts to choose from. Staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. I definitely recommend coming to this location!

This Makimono location is pretty good in comparison to it's Pickering location. It is a solid AYCE sushi restaurant in the Durham Region. The atmosphere is good, the service is prompt. They offer the standard AYCE menu, but what sets them apart is their vegetarian options. They have a great Mango Roll, Yam, Tempura Roll and a couple of other great options. They get pretty busy on weekends.

From the lunch and dinner all you can eat to the menu items & bento boxes, I've experienced everything this restaurant has to offer! It is very inconsistent with their food quality, their lunch all you can eat is very limited and bland. The menu items are good, but it is definitely not priced right for the food you actually get - it is basic, western-oriental style dishes. What is worth it??: Their dinner all you can eat is the has the most aesthetic plating compared to their other dish offers. It also has the widest selection of side-dishes, main courses, & varieties of sushi/sashimi/maki rolls. However, after a while, everything tends to taste the same - just do not overdo it when you order!! The bento boxes, especially the lunch special boxes, hands-down offers you the absolute bang for your buck! The chicken/salmon teriyaki is the way to go, ranging from $11-$13. It is a full course meal with a main protein, maki rolls, tempura, gyoza dumplings, and assorted fruit.

Why would anyone order Teriyaki Beef when you can have Black Pepper Beef?! Their All-You-Can-Eat buffet has an incredible selection as does their regular menu. There are a few Makimono locations but this one, by far, is my favourite. The service is excellent, the sashimi is fresh and the atmosphere is pleasant.

Just 30 minutes from Toronto, Yakyoto Grill in Pickering is a must-visit for Japanese BBQ…read more(YAKINIKU) lovers!! The King Kalbi short ribs are juicy and flavorful, while the Tsubo Harami (marinated beef in ceramic jars) is unbelievably tender. They also serve fresh seafood, crispy fries, and the perfect desserts -- from housemade gelato to every flavor of Melona bar. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and top-quality food make this one of the best Japanese grills in the GTA.

Great AYCE BBQ place similar to Gyubee. Not related to other restaurants…read more In comparison to the other bigger brands they have very similar variety and quality food. The quality and seasoning of meat were great. The spicy shrimp was lovely. The miso salmon was nice and soft. The same clams were lacking a little flavour and there were no vermicelli. The fries, takoyaki, wings and cheesy corn were great. I was surprised to see takowasa. It was not bad but could use more of the crunchy veggies and more wasabi flavours. The bibimbap was meatless and could use more sauce but the rice and egg was perfect. They offered a good Melona variety. The creme brulee was ordered to torch and came in a legit ramekin but I wished the sugar crust was thicker. Great service and environment. I did find the seats a bit cramped especially when sharing the middle booth. We were reminded of the 1.5hr last call and 2hr seating limit a few times though. And also reminded that if we cannot finish the food that we should set it aside... Overall, happy to see a nice AYCE BBQ place make it further into Durham!

An ordinary dining experience at Odine…read more I'm quite disappointed with the overall evening I had, from the food to the atmosphere. The restaurant is in dire need of some love and care. It's dated and old with way too much signage. The booths are covered with taped flyers denoting tons of sales and specials. If you have to slash prices in your items and advertise so aggressively your business may be doing badly. Why is there an awkwardly placed drink fridge at the front door? There's signs of damage and disrepair all across the restaurant. It's in badly need of being fixed up and renovated. The bathrooms are filthy, cobwebs and dead bugs everywhere. The light switch is covered with grime. The air vent may be a fire hazard with the caked on dust. The food doesn't fair much better. It's average at best and priced too high for the lower quality of ingredients. I ordered the Maki Set which was coming apart before it got to my table. The Pad Thai tasted too sweet. The spring rolls and fresh rolls were the only two dishes I enjoyed. Savoury and delicious, and full of flavour. The only redeeming factor was the service. Friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. The servers do need a uniform though, I'm confused why one of them was wearing Adidas sweat pants. Sadly I don't think I'll be back.

We stopped by here on route home and had a good experience. The ambiance was a little outdated and…read morethe couch was worn. With that being said the food was really good. We ordered a wonton soup, salmon avocado roll, beef enoki and rice. My husband really enjoyed the wonton soup. He said the wontons were filled with shrimp and chicken and he thought they were good. I ordered the beef enoki with rice as a gluten free dish and really enjoyed it. The beef enoki had a lot of flavour and they provided me with gluten free soya sauce and ginger to go with the appetizer and it tasted scrumptious and the service was pretty good. We shared the salmon avocado roll and it was really fresh and was well priced. Would we return? Possibly if passing through the area.
