My 11 year old is into comics now and asked to take her to a comic book store. I found Korka on Yelp and the reviews were pretty good so we went. We both loved it. I had never been to a comic book store before and didn't know what to expect. The walls are lined with POP figures and the selection of comic books is huge! I had a flash back to when I was a kid. The POP figures included Disney characters, Star Wars, Bugs Bunny, Harry Potter, Super Hero's, everything. We found comics for DC and Marvel, but also Archie, teenage mutant turtles and so many others! Everything was very affordable. We had a lot of fun! read more

A good shop with a ton of stuff to look at. Friendly staff and a pretty good selection of comics and assorted products. For me the only reason I cannot give this place a fifth star is the pricing. I'm an X-Men fanatic. So when I go to a comic shop I go straight for my merry mutants (insider joke) and unless I'm going for a very old issues or for a key issue I know what I should be paying and it's not $7-$8 for a non-key issue from the 80's or 90's and that they have five copies of all priced the same. I understand that things in south Florida are a bit more expensive, but seriously I was taken aback at some of the prices when I pay $2 per issue in Jacksonville at all of the local shops. Went ahead and checked this place out for collectibles. It's right on Pines Blvd in a small plaza in the corner. They had an entire wall of POP collectibles for a decent price of $9.99 and comic books ranging from $3.99 & up. They have updated new comics every week and traded comic books are available. I did ask if they grade owned comics and that, I'm not too sure if they do. Glad that this place is close to home, i don't have to go up North. read more

I didn't expect this place to be nearly as nice as it was! I walked in and it was much bigger than I expected. They have specials on certain Funko Pops, 3 for $20, which is an amazing deal! They have a ton of comic books for all ages, they have some anime books, and even used DVDs and collectibles that people have brought in. I have stopped here a few times during the pandemic - mostly to inquire about MTG prereleases and browse a bit. They were not hosting any events due to covid so it was uneventful but the store itself was great. I'm a sucker for awesome figurines and fantasy artwork so I had a blast just window shopping for a little. Their selection of comics is huge And staff are very chill and helpful. The only thing missing were other people to enjoy it with. I would like to go back now that paper events are returning and see what kind of crowd goes for FNM. Me and my best friend went to the store today and we sadly didn't get to sell any Pokémon but let me tell you what happened. The man "checked" our Pokémon said they were only worth like 2 dollars and said the way we checked our prices was not showing the actual price and that was listings. He also said our cards were beat up damaged etc. he said my friends 60 dollar card was worth maybe 2 dollars he said mine were not worth anything as well so we left with are head down a little butt hurtbut it was ok. So I started thinking as I got home that the way I checked showed many different websites and places where they were sold. So I decided to check eBay myself so me and my dad searched it up my card that he said was worth anything but like 1 dollar was worth 29.11 plus shipping. Now the other drum roll please 55 dollars. So the fact that he said my card were damaged and stuff and weren't worth anything just to find those prices ON THE SAME WEBSITE that he searched on was shoocking. so moral of the story this guy is trying to scam people and tell them false intel about the cards its unacceptable I hate to do this to a company/ business but this scammer need to be stopped pictures will be put bellow. I am not mad I didn't get to sell but the fact he tried to scam us is the reason I am writing this. I also had a 150 dollar cafd that he said was worth anything but like 5 dollars. He also had Pokemon that were worth a lot listed at 5-10 dollars I don't know if he just does know what he is doing or he is just trying to make no money. The new Zap Bang Kapow, or Earth 2 Comics... I use the term 'new' loosely. Very little has changed in this shop in a rather long time. When you first enter the dimly lit shop it has the feel of one of those old antique shops, mildly musty with the scent of adventure! Then you notice it's just a poorly lit comic shop and your hopes are dashed. Several of my friends used to hold subscriptions to this shop, and when the old owner left he simply allowed the subscriptions to die out without telling anyone... When the new owner started up I remember one of my friends going back as it had been his neighborhood shop and he was going to give them one more chance...and then they didn't receive their issue's of superior spiderman (Or anything else at first!) and he flew into a nerd rage. (It was amusing for me.) When the last owner went out of business he sold off everything he could...including certain fixtures and shelves, he had massive sales and attempted to liquidate as much as possible. Now they are receiving comics but still attempting to get out of the board game business. There is room to game in the shop..but with it being located between Coolstuff on Taft and Past Present Future on Stirling...there are few people who game in the small shop when better options are available. They mark up the comics on the wall...and then offer you a discount to make you feel like you are winning something. They have miscellaneous products littering the store reminiscent of a garage sale gone on for far too long... all the good stuff is picked over. This might be a decent place if you're young, don't have a car, or a bicycle, or don't feel like peddling your bike the extra mile north to go to PPF or coolstuff. Pro's ~ It's a local comic shop...and it's been around for awhile. It's not that far from PPF if you want comics after your disappointment with the place settles It's not that far from coolstuff if you want trading cards...again after your disappointment settles. Meh in the middle~ They do have table space...just not a lot of it. Cons~ It's dingy, dim and dirty The previous establishment leaves a poor taste in the mouth They lack product The shopping center it's located in is... seedy at best. The really old guy always tries to sell you random marked up crap... pot luck picked over common magic cards...or cheap yugioh bundles...with the crap people don't want to take the effort to throw away so they leave on the tables. (It might get two stars...if it wasn't so completely dwarfed on all sides by a good local comic shop...and a good local gaming shop. If you're not a local...there is just no real reason to visit. One of the better comic book shops I have set foot in! I have gone to certain comic book shops that have had high ratings on Yelp and none have given me a better experience than Korka Comics. The staff there are filled with comic knowledge and are willing to chat with you on certain series and go deep with the conversation. I never have had that feeling where the employees try to rush you out the store because they can tell that you're a newbie to comics. The staff is very welcoming to new readers! They also have tables for you to play Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic, and any other game they might offer, but I'm not a card player so I wouldn't know. They have a great selection of comics and if you are looking for a certain issue or series you can ask to special order it and wait a week or so for it to come in, depending if the issue/series is very popular or not. They also have a nice selections of trade paperbacks, in order from DC, Marvel, and Indy companies. The shop also has a wall(s) dedicated to special/variant issues of comics for you to choose from! I've been coming here for the past 3 to 4 months and I've seen more and more people come to the shop and have seen the improvements that shop has made itself. Hated the overall look of the place; very messy and stale looking, a couple of things really grossed me out like old cardboard everywhere and yellow stained displays. Liked the experience though, and when it comes to making a list, grabbing comics and getting the hell outta there, Korka's is your best bet. Korka's comics has the POTENTIAL to be a great little comic shop, but it lacks certain key elements. Pros: Location. It's near Broward College on Pines Blvd, so it's on a Main Street near a busy area so it can attract attention. One of the employees who has been there for years, Tom, is VERY knowledgeable in comics and will always try to make the customer happy. He has a very positive attitude and will attend to your needs and questions. They're usually very good with subscriptions and they don't charge you to have one with them. New comics are delivered regularly each week and even if you don't have a subscription with them there's an excellent chance they'll have the book on the shelf. They carry a lot of back issues. They have a gaming section where you can come in and play games. They run weekly tournaments for Yugi-Oh, Magic, Pokemon, and Heroclix. It's a decent sized little store. Cons: They are very wish washy with new non comic book product. They order strange quirky things that sit in the store for a long time, but not the obvious best seller items. They stopped selling comic themed T-Shirts Their bathroom stinks and looks disgusting. (I appreciate that they do have a bathroom for customers to use, but at least clean it every few hours or check to make sure it's presentable) Many times during the week there is only one person in the store and they're stuck behind the counter manning the register do it can be hard for them to help you. Organization is terrible and they don't do a very good job at keeping certain areas looking nice and presentable (the back area by the bathroom door always looks hideous). They lack a very well maintained graphic novel and trade section. They will have volume 3, and 4 of a series but never volume 1 making it impossible for new readers to jump into a new book. On certain days due to other stores in the strip mall, it may be impossible to park in front of the store. There is no sign on the street to let anyone know they exist (this is the strip mall owners fault not theirs, but it's something that would help). I love shopping there because the other customers are fantastic to talk to, the majority of the employees love comics, will talk to you about comics, will recommend new comics, and will be friendly to you. If they work on fixing the cons I believe the store can really pick up steam and become very lively. I have been a customer at this store for over 17 years and just want it to last another 20+ years. read more

I got horrible service: I was looking at something & someone hovered over me until I left; the (all-White) staff was wearing sombreros for May 5th; the staff gave their customers attitude & wrong directions; & on free comic day they were only giving out two comics when I've gotten stacks of free comics everywhere else I've visited. I've been coming to Korka since i got back into the whole comic collecting hobby in the beginning of 2014. It's a small shop located in pembroke pines, the location is excellent,the staff here are very friendly, including Tom who is always a pleasure to deal with every Wednesday morning when i go to pick up my weekly pull of comic titles. The shop stocks all the newest Marvel,DC,Dark horse, IDW,boom and other brands of comics. they also have a LARGE assortment of collectibles here i always end up buying a little something extra that catches my eye. If your a Card collector Pokemon, yu gi ho, or whatever they also have a large assortment of cards and i believe they also have people coming to play cards there on a weekly basis as well. I've visited and shopped at just about every Comic shop here in Broward county. I can honestly say None have treated me with such excellent costumer service and made me feel like i was at home or a family member other then with Korka comics. Wow, this review from Ross is really weird. It feels like he is unfairly attacking the store because so many of his comments make no sense. First, the store is not dimly lit. I can not stand a dark and dusty store, it's depressing. The very first thing I noticed when the new owners took over in January was that it was so well lit and clean. The old ownership kept it very dim and dusty but that is far from the case since January 2013. There is also room to breathe, you are not climbing over stuff or walking sideways down narrow isles. The staff is so much friendlier and out going compared to the old staff. Both are fun and comfortable to talk comics with and one is pretty well read in DC & Marvel over the past 15 years. My pulls are always there and anything I am looking for in back issues they have tracked down and gotten by the next week. Their TPB section and back issues are kind of thin but they seem to be actively working to change that. They also sell comic book lots at a nice discount which was my favorite thing about the old ownership. The new guys have been good about putting together new sets. I would give it a solid 3.5 stars with room for improvement, which they seem to be working on. I would also like it if they had more comic events and there is an odd garage sale quality to some of the stuff but I chalk that up as them as a new store trying to fill space until their inventory grows. I have seen some pretty awful comic shops in south Florida like Ross describes but this is not at all like he describes. It has what I want in a LCBS. It may not have what Ross looks for in a LCBS but his description is so inaccurate that it feels like he is just attacking them for some reason. read more

Back in February, I was in Florida on leave for a few days and stopped at Korka Comics for some Yu-Gi-Oh cards. The staff was very friendly and also Vets! They were older gentleman with the bare essentials to run the shop. It got pretty busy in there so I can see why these guys couldn't answer the phone or respond to emails. They have many tables for card games. I feel they are decently priced for the cards they sell. they had a wide variety but unfortunately, they didn't have the cards I was looking for. I'm not an internet guy but I am writing this because I don't think this shop gets enough credit. It is a small shop, yes, but everyone is accommodating to try to get you what you need. I typically come on Saturdays with my children. There was a young woman who used to be behind the counter but I was informed that she no longer works there. That is a shame because she was so attentive to my daughters. She engaged with them enthusiastically and endlessly while offering them many selections and that is the primary reason to come to this shop- they seem to really push customer service. The shop may have now lost a bit of light but everyone seems to be fairly nice. I would recommend this store if you value being treated like an individual rather than the other stores that are just trying to make a sale. read more

I've been coming here since the year 2000 back when it was called Baseball cards and more. This is the only comic shop in South Florida I would highly recommend because of the staff!!! They are extremely helpful and always friendly!!!!
