ETA: I was contacted by Korte and we discussed the issues that have occurred in the last 2 days. They offered to send a technician out this afternoon , and I agreed to let him come. He was here a little over an hour, and repaired the capacitor in our compressor that was the issue with our air conditioning. He was professional, kind, and did a great job. He got our compressor up and running, and our air conditioning is now running again. They followed up to make sure everything was as expected, and after the original failure in communication and service, they put it right. I wish we hadn't had the issues with them that we had originally, but I do appreciate that they were quick to offer to rectify the problem, and provided top notch service. Original: Last summer we scheduled a service call to check out AC unit. I advised at least three people that the AC unit we have is not a traditional AC system. They all told me they'd send a technician that could work on it. A young man showed up and advised he didn't work on those systems and had never seen one. He cleaned our compressor, refused to check anything in our attic and then left. Fast forward to this week. Our AC goes out Friday and I scheduled an appointment via their website for Monday morning at 8am. Monday noon rolls around, nothing from Korte. I call and ask about arrival time. They can't guarantee me anything and left me on the schedule. Monday evening, around 7pm, I get a text that my Monday appointment was now moved to Tuesday. On Tuesday, I received another text that they weren't going to make it on that day either (so many emergencies for people without AC - yeah, like us) and we needed to reschedule again. We decided to go with another company, and will use them for any and all heating or cooling needs going forward. DO NOT use Korte. The customer service is non-existent, and if you can get someone out to the job, they won't know what to do. They cost us at least three business days of getting our system fixed, and additional days because now we have to get slotted in with another company. read more

We were recommended Korte about 10 years ago, and at that time, the technicians, customer service, and quality were all excellent. Sometime around 2023, we noticed a significant decline across all three areas. The worst issue happened twice: our annual inspection checks were cashed, yet our appointments were later cancelled for nonpayment. Did they bother to call us to let us know the appointment was cancelled or inform us that payment hadn't been received? No. It wasn't until a calendar reminder went off that I had to call them myself. Despite this being their error, they could not fit us in for months. Because of this delay, our AC was inspected at the end of summer rather than mid-spring when it should have been done. Its frustrating dealing with such disorganization when they used to be better. It is clear that management does not care about these mistakes, which is why I am giving this a poor rating. Based on these changes and price hikes, I would recommend finding a locally owned HVAC company instead of one that has been bought out and having all its value extracted, likely to be gutted for parts. read more

Last December, i had need for emergency plumbing services. It was the weekend and a spigot i had inside my garage stopped working properly. It, all of a sudden started leaking. I could not stop the leak and needed the help of a plumber asap. I could not get a hold of my usual guy, and after a few hours, I looked for someone else to help. I stumbled upon a listing for Korte Does It all, and called. They came over my house at night to fix the issue. Two guys came including one called Logan. Both were professionals who quickly accessed the situation and assured me they could easily fix the situation. They had to replace it and they did the work. The price wasn't bad considering it was an emergency call during a weekend at night. Super thankful these guys took the call and especially fixed the issue! These guys were courteous and I could not be happier with the service they provided me! This could have been two reviews, one of them 5 star relating to the quality of the technician and his excellent service---OR a 1 star relating to the change in business practices from once being locally owned to now being part of what is often called a "roll up." When local, the practices were, IMO, based on the life-time value of a customer who returned because of value and service; even technicians had flexibility. Now, the model is to stack fees, press for an annual contract, and charge for even traveling to prepare an estimate; not a small travel fee of nearly $100. My technician could not have been better, and I watched what was done and knew immediately why my "nearly new" furnace was malfunctioning in the sub-zero weather. The installation had set the shut-off at too low a level for constant running and the furnace was on and off and the motor ran at very high speed, "thinking" that the furnace had become overheated---a nice safety feature, but the setting was at a temperature that one would expect for serving chicken soup. The technician had no way of rectifying what was a poorly designed installation, and I paid the bill in full with no complaint about the service, The fees should have been reduced because this was not a warantee issue based on materials, but instead on an installation ill-suited for very cold weather. Fee creep and financial models based on recurring revenue and membership are common enough after roll ups and in businesses no longer locally owned. It does not need be this way. If you don't like pricing models, look local. Service was good but we shall see if the company places any value on life time relationships. read more

Prices are high and timing is slow. I was told a plumber would arrive between 8-12 and he didn't show up until past noon. Since he had to come back, I requested the first slot in the morning. That day I received a text at 7:35 am saying he was on his way. At 9 I called and was told a different plumber was being sent but they couldn't give me his time of arrival. In terms of cost, Korte estimated the cost of a toilet reset at $250 higher than another company. I'll be using that other company, who arrived on time, from now on. read more

Obfuscation and dishonest from the get go. Zero options given (HVAC), just chose the most expensive item it would seem. ​I said no to specific things, which were what the salesman chose. Tons of run around and excuses. Bilked out of a lot of money. I dread having to use them for any warranteed work. Never use them if you can help it. read more

Had an emergency with plumbing and said no one available to assist and have to wait the next day even though they advertise 24 hour emergency service!! Said they should be at my house first thing. 8:00 still no plumber, called them at 8:30 and said we were next. Still nothing at 11:00, called again, were next, finally showed up at 1:30. We used Korte for some minor plumbing work. I thought the price would not be too high but for two visits and less than four hours of work the bill was $2,660. There was no detail just a big price. We were shocked. Lesson learned is get an estimate in all cases and trust no one even if you have used them in the past. Run from Korte. I would never recommend them or use them again. read more

Had a boiler that shut off and wouldn't turn back on that needed taken apart and cleaned. Had a guy from Korte come out and take a look at it. Quoted me 6 hours to take it apart and clean it at $600 an hour. Needless to say they are not affordable. Final quote to do a 2 hour job was going to be $5600. I get labor costs, but who in their right mind would be ok with paying $600 an hour? Especially in the middle of winter where there's no heat in the house. Seems like they were trying to take as much as they could get in an emergency. read more

Scheduled an electrician to move a few outlets in the midst of a painting project. The guy was nice, polite abd on time. That is why he got a 1 star. What he did after that is the issue. He would not quote an hourly rate and literally asked for $1,400 for a job that took less than 2 hours. I felt he was taking advantage of me because I really needed it done that day. After complaing about the price he was "kind" and adjusted his price to $1,050!!!! There was no more than $25 in parts. It was primarily labor which became $500 per hour! I will NEVER call these people again! oh, and he spent part of that 2 hours trying to talk me into authorizing him to do a panel refresh for a couple grand more because it is 20 years old! I recently purchased my first home, and within 3 weeks of moving in we discovered that the plumbing was an absolute disaster that was going to cost a whole lotta money to fix. About two weeks have passed, and in those two weeks I've had techs Ben, Adam, Noah, Christian, and Sam. Not only did they collectively fix the nightmare known as my plumbing, but also went above and beyond to help Me adjust to everything happening at once. They were always incredibly friendly, courteous, and personable. I would 10/10 recommend them to others and if I ever need more work done, I will be calling them. read more

Guys will get out to your home and get your drain unclogged quick. They will also do some electrical work. Fun to watch these guys sweat and get a little work done around the house. Grandma calls Korte, sure she's on a fixed income, but she loves spending it having Korte come and save the day on her old home. These jokers will drive on out to Waynedale and save the day. They turned a few bolts and got the shower in real quick. They get all kinds of stuff done. read more

Leo Gardner. HVAC technician, was very personable and professional. He performed the yearly maintenance check on our furnace He also investigated and solved a problem of the furnace shutting off periodically in cold weather. Leo explained the issue and the possible solutions. In addition he installed a smart thermostat to further prevent the occasional furnace shut offs. Leo presented very understandable explanations of the furnace problem and very understandable instructions for the smart thermostat. Leo also left his business card so we could contact him again if we had difficulty programing the smart thermostat. It was a pleasure working with Leo. We highly recommend Leo and the Korte company. read more

I just moved to the area. Had some plumbing issues that were "missed" in the home inspection I called Korte and they have done a fantastic job. It wasn't an easy or straight forward fix but JW did an awesome job at an affordable cost. I also used them for HVAC and they recommend more affordable options. I know enough to know when I am being up-charged. They didn't try and do that. I appreciate honest businesses. read more

I have used them twice. I had them install a sub panel in my basement. The electrician did a good job with it. I am not sure if there is a cheaper electrician that also does good work, but I was happy with them. Of note when I got a quote, I was told that they were going to pull the permits for this work. While the electrician was working, I asked about the permit and he said that a permit was not needed. I think he is wrong. I also had them hang a 5' by 4' Condensation hood in my basement home brewery. In addition to that they had to hang a fan and attach ducting and core through 10" of concrete for the dryer style duct out of the basement. They did a great job and stuck to the quoted price even though coring through 10" was not in the original plan (they thought they would be going through wood). The group of guys they sent out were very professional and knowledge about the task they were doing. Again not sure if they are the cheapest for the job, but you pay for what you get and I paid for full satisfaction. read more

I'll start the review by saying there's been no issue with the work that was done, just that it wasn't necessary work and predatory business practices were used. Korte was called out to look at moisture in a basement and high water bills that were causing some suspicion of a leak. In the end two technicians used high pressure sales tactics to run up a $2,100 bill which was approved by my mother. This $2100 total included replacing a perfectly functioning sump pump which about a year old ($1,700) and two toilet tank "rebuilds" ($200 each) to address the one toilet that had a leaking valve. Let me repeat this, one toilet tank was leaking. That was the one problem. $200 of the $1900 bill was appropriate to the service call. They were nice enough to note that the moisture in the basement was not attributed to anything they could find wrong, and that a different company would need to be contacted about that if it became a bigger issue. Some follow-up discussion after the fact resulted in several weeks of runaround but nothing but excuses. I realize the work was approved and paid for so it is too late to do anything, but if you are considering using this company they cannot be trusted to keep the scope of work honest. This company should not be on the contact list of any relative or friend without enough knowledge to keep them honest and avoid unnecessary work. read more

It's not often that a service provider like this (HVAC, eletrical, plumbing) gets such good ratings from me. Normally they're late, not overly pleasant, or just don't seem all that competent. A few months ago we found Korte Does it All and had someone come out to give us a big electrical estimate on some work we wanted done. Mike was professional, knowledgeable, and gave us some good suggestions. Fast forward a few months and our bathroom outlet keeps tripping the circuit breaker. I went ahead and called Korte and got an appt. scheduled for the next day. (The woman who took my call was friendly and efficient--two qualities that often seem to be missing from people in positions like this, so it was greatly appreciated). The negative is that they give you a 3 hour window, no specific time and not even a 2 hr. window like some other companies. However, they do call before they come out (in our case about 30 minutes before the tech arrived). Our electrician arrived within the time expected and immediately introduced himself (Corey) to all of us. He was extremely courteous and professional throughout the service call. Moreover, anyone who takes the time to talk respectfully and thoughtfully to my daughter (age 4) and to answer all of her questions automatically earns a high-caliber rating from me. However, not only was Corey kind, he also appears to be competent and skilled at his job (since I'm not an electrician, I can't know for sure, but it sure seemed like he knew what to do). He always informed me of what exactly he was doing (what he was looking for, what the problem was likely to be, etc.) and why the problem may have occurred, what to be on the lookout for in the future, and what to do if there are any more problems. Given that Corey arrived on time, was thoughtful, respectful, competent, cleaned up all traces of dust and debris (and wore the booties over his shoes to prevent tracking in additional mud), quickly diagnosed and repaired our problem, and even did some of the work from the earlier estimate that we hadn't gotten to yet, I would absolutely recommend this company--or at least their employee, Corey. I think their prices are on par with their competitors, so I definitely plan to call them again for future work. Thanks Korte! read more

The first time we had them out they busted a work table away from the wall tearing a small amount of plaster from the wall where it was screwed in and then lied to us about it. David Korte did respond to a complaint I made about this incident. He came out to look at the damage and he offered to repair the damage. I declined his offer because it was a small amount of damage and to me the real issue was a trust issue with a contractor, and in doing so may have set the tone for less than professional service from that point forward. The second time they were suppose to fix a light in a bathroom that still doesn't work correctly. The third time they changed a thermostat and the technician left it hanging crooked with dirt on the wall, and is still crooked and loose. The last time we called Korte the person they sent out was to look at a boiler and after a few moments it's was obvious the young man had no experience so we sent him on his way. they offered to send someone else but by this time we had enough of Korte and their slipshod service. We also had a yearly contract for AC/Heating maintenance, but the service we got for the cost was not a good value. I wish I could give negative stars... STAY AWAY FROM KORTE!!! I called Korte about clearing our clogged kitchen sink drain. The dispatcher was very pleasant and said she could get a plumber out soon and would call when he was on the way. I asked her for a quote and she said it is $49 to show up and then he will assess the problem and give us a quote. She said they have no way to quote it ahead of time. She calls within 30 minutes and says he is on the way. He shows up and basically glances at the sink and says to fix it will be $275. I said how could you know that before you get into it. He says it is our flat rate there is no deviation based on complexity. So long story short... (too late).. It's a scam! I have to pay $275 to unclog the drain OR pay $49 to get him to leave without unclogging the drain... Their actual business model is to make sure the dispatchers don't have "access" to the flat rate pricing so that they won't scare you off with the real price... He admitted as much to me. Beware!!! I checked around and other reputable plumbers will give you a quote or at least a range.... The range I got from the others I called was $95 to $150. So while it is my fault for not calling around first, but I thought they had a good reputation... Boy was I wrong. They are operating a racket. The MOB selling protection services have nothing over these guys.... Call around get real quotes and STAY AWAY FROM KORTE!!! When they say they "Do it All" they are not joking... and from my experience most of it is unethical. read more

I had a ceiling fan installed today. I like the fact that Korte gives you a time frame as to when the technician will be there and a call when he is on the way. BUT the cost of labor is outrageous! The tech who did the install was great, generally I have been very pleased with Korte but watch out for labor costs!!! read more

if there was a negative number I would give it.the technician was professional but I sent him on his way when he said they had a standard price of installing a faucet,which I had the faucet already,of 283.00 on top of service fee of 49.00.i did it myself in 30 minutes but now have to put up with a sore back,but at 300 hundred dollars i'll take some ibuprofen.wil never call them or recommend for anything also instead korte does it all I think they should rename it korte takes it all read more
