Mertz Plumbing installed a battery powered back up sump pump in our home. They did a fantastic job at a reasonable cost. Thank you Mertz.

What a terrible experience! One of my dear friends who is a contractor recommended these guys…read morehaving worked with them, so I though I could trust them. They snaked my kitchen sink last winter, and I appreciated everything about it. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, I called to have my tub snaked, have the tub drain trip lever and stopper replaced, and have my outdoor spigot changed. The worker, Rick, I think, spent about 3 three hours on things, and then called me saying he didn't have the right size snake. He suggested I get some Draino to pour in, fill up the tub, let it sit for an hour, and then let the water flush the pipes. Not what you want to hear after a 225 dollar hour and a half of work, but I was still trusting at this point. I did what he asked, and low-and-behold, the water had drained 15 minutes after I stopped it while the stopper was still engaged. Next shower, I was still standing in an inch of water. And dammit, I had to finish screwing in one screw on the new spigot. I called the office, and Rick contacted me the next business day. He said he'd try to get out that day and would call me back. He never did. I called him once, I took a video of the water going down the "stopped" drain and texted it to him, and I never heard from him. Wow. When I got a 500 dollar bill, I called and left a frustrated voicemail on the company phone asking what the heck was going on. Austin, the owner's son, called me the next day and was apologetic. He took ownership of the mess up, told me that they don't snake anymore and referred me to A1 Sewer (which did a great job!). He also told me to disregard the bill. I appreciated that. When you ugly f**k up, you fix the mistake and try and make it look pretty again. Fast forward a week later, I get another bill that was for 200 and change wanting me to pay for the spigot parts and labor. It was technically fair, but at this point, I had already had A1 Sewer come out, tell me my pipes were simple and that I could do it myself next time with a cheapo snake from the store, and adjusted the drain stopper so it actually worked, all in 1 hour's time. I did my confused-Scooby headshake, and gave Mr. Plumber a call back, explaining that Austin had told me to disregard the bill and that I saw the bill was technically fair but was told to disregard the bill completely and needed some clarification. I explained everything A1 Sewer said, intimating that at this point I felt I was being taken advantage of. I got another call from Austin. He told me to disregard the second bill, apologized, told me he was livid with Rick and that this isn't how they do business. I asked specifically again if I needed to pay the second bill, and he said no. I thanked him for both making it right and trying to make it pretty again. This is how I treated people when I ran my business, and I'm always grateful when I see it. Well, here we are today. While at work, I get a phone call from a secretary who tells me that I owe for the bill still. This new guidance was from Austin's dad, the owner. Austin apparently didn't understand that the spigot work was done and that I still owed for that. I think Austin did understand, because he couldn't even be bothered to call me himself. As I said before, the bill is technically fair, so I'll pay it. But maybe you, the reader, can decide if the company is fair and if you want to interact with them. I do not think they are. I did not treat people this way. Austin's dad, if you decide to be holistically fair, I'll remove these reviews. Otherwise, we can both pay for the cost of your business practice while disagreeing about its value.

During the process of opening my sewer, parts of my patio was tore out unnecessarily. I was PROMISED this would be fixed once the ground settled. After three months of waiting, I called the office and once again I couldn't reach a live person so I left a message requesting a patio repair. Nobody called me back. A week later, I called again, left a message stating they had 10 days to fix the patio or I was going to have it repaired myself and send Summer's the bill. The plumbing manager, David called me back stating the patio would be framed on Thursday and cement poured on Friday OR the whole thing would be done on Friday. Thursday came, nobody showed. Friday, two men showed up stating they would frame it that day and come back, "Sometime next week to finish it. I said, "NO it will be done today as promised" as I had scheduled someone to plant grass the following Monday." After one worker trying to wiggle out of it, I insisted the cement would be poured that day. The cement was poured but on Sunday when I was told I could take the frame off, I saw they only poured 1.5" of concrete on a 4" slab!! This isn't even up to code and the work was sloppy! This serves no value to me as I am now going to have to have this fixed by someone who actually takes pride in their work and knows what they are doing. I would give zero stars here if I could but I don't have that option.

ETA: I was contacted by Korte and we discussed the issues that have occurred in the last 2 days…read more They offered to send a technician out this afternoon , and I agreed to let him come. He was here a little over an hour, and repaired the capacitor in our compressor that was the issue with our air conditioning. He was professional, kind, and did a great job. He got our compressor up and running, and our air conditioning is now running again. They followed up to make sure everything was as expected, and after the original failure in communication and service, they put it right. I wish we hadn't had the issues with them that we had originally, but I do appreciate that they were quick to offer to rectify the problem, and provided top notch service. Original: Last summer we scheduled a service call to check out AC unit. I advised at least three people that the AC unit we have is not a traditional AC system. They all told me they'd send a technician that could work on it. A young man showed up and advised he didn't work on those systems and had never seen one. He cleaned our compressor, refused to check anything in our attic and then left. Fast forward to this week. Our AC goes out Friday and I scheduled an appointment via their website for Monday morning at 8am. Monday noon rolls around, nothing from Korte. I call and ask about arrival time. They can't guarantee me anything and left me on the schedule. Monday evening, around 7pm, I get a text that my Monday appointment was now moved to Tuesday. On Tuesday, I received another text that they weren't going to make it on that day either (so many emergencies for people without AC - yeah, like us) and we needed to reschedule again. We decided to go with another company, and will use them for any and all heating or cooling needs going forward. DO NOT use Korte. The customer service is non-existent, and if you can get someone out to the job, they won't know what to do. They cost us at least three business days of getting our system fixed, and additional days because now we have to get slotted in with another company.

We were recommended Korte about 10 years ago, and at that time, the technicians, customer service,…read moreand quality were all excellent. Sometime around 2023, we noticed a significant decline across all three areas. The worst issue happened twice: our annual inspection checks were cashed, yet our appointments were later cancelled for nonpayment. Did they bother to call us to let us know the appointment was cancelled or inform us that payment hadn't been received? No. It wasn't until a calendar reminder went off that I had to call them myself. Despite this being their error, they could not fit us in for months. Because of this delay, our AC was inspected at the end of summer rather than mid-spring when it should have been done. Its frustrating dealing with such disorganization when they used to be better. It is clear that management does not care about these mistakes, which is why I am giving this a poor rating. Based on these changes and price hikes, I would recommend finding a locally owned HVAC company instead of one that has been bought out and having all its value extracted, likely to be gutted for parts.
