My three friends and I are spending a few wonderful days in Prague, and we have found excellent restaurants here. Tonight we had a superb dinner at Kozlovna U Paukerta, a traditional Czech restaurant that is about a 5-minute walk from our hotel in Old Town. The food was delicious--I wanted to be sure to have goulash in Prague, and this was the perfect place to have it! The menu is not large, but it is of high quality, and every dish and dessert our group had was wonderful, and the prices were quite reasonable. The setting was cozy and unpretentious, and the service was impeccable. I want to make special mention of Jiri, our waiter. He was very friendly and attentive, and we were in good hands with him. I recommend this restaurant highly to visitors to Prague! read more

When we travel we always try to eat different places but we t did come back here twice during our time in Prague. The food was delicious the beer was cold and the prices very reasonable. It's modern feel and what I really liked was the feel of the place people talked to each other no one was staring at their screens. While visiting Prague our Airbnb host recommended we try this place for a taste of traditional Czech food. The service was excellent, the waiter helped us with our selection and was very patient. The food was well worth the train ride and 17min walk. The meat was marinated and had great flavor without being over seasoned. The baked potatoes, dumplings potatoes, and the homemade chips had me dancing in my seat (I'm a potato lover if you can't tell). Overall I highly recommend this place basked in ambiance, service, and food. read more

I was recently in Prague and checked into my hotel starving. The front desk agent recommended this place for great local food and it was within walking distance. He specifically mentioned to try the svickova, which is a traditional beef and veggie stew-like meal with dumplings. I popped in and was seated immediately. My waiter was super friendly and attentive. Ordered a 1L local beer (which was fabulous) and the svickova. It was a very solid entree. Basic, almost farm-like food, but filling and tasty. It wasn't particularly big so I ordered an appetizer of mixed sausages after. That ended up doing the trick. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to return a second time but highly recommend this place. And it's super affordable! read more

I Came here last night as I wanted to experience real Czech food. I have to report that I made a great choice ! It has a great menu and food was really tasty. goulash was good and the knuckle pork was amazing !! The place was packed which tell me that people like it and despite that they were able to get me a table! The waitress I had first was awesome very kind and great sense of humor. Then a waiter took over, he was nice too but not as attentive. I am taking away 1 star in my review because I had to ask for my lemonade about 5 times !!! I enjoyed my visit to Kozlovna U Paukerta. Good food, good beer, good service. It's conveniently located & a good place to go on a day of sightseeing. I tried the roast pork knuckle, which was nicely grilled & huge -- there was lots left over! Some parts were more tender and fatty, while other parts are more charred. I enjoyed the pile of pickles as well as the horseradish it was served with. Service is good, helpful. Restaurant is spacious, clean and pleasant, with a nice ambience. Tables are spacious. This restaurant is OK for those who want to have a simple, unambitious meal. But it's loud, you have to sit on unpillowed benches and chairs. It's more a pub than a restaurant, except the ambience does not support that. Our Aperol Spritz was an Aperol without Spritz (means: it was stale). No recommendation. read more

Jacob's Gist: Came because of the location, come back because it was insanely good. ======================== I came here twice in two days and do not regret it at all. The first time I went to Kozlovna U Paukerta it was because my friend and I were hungry after having flown in and it was one of the highest rated places near our hostel. We ordered the wings to split and I got the Svíčková (a traditional Czech meat dish with "dumplings" and cream sauce). The wings were oddly really great and I could've definitely gone for more of them and the Svíčková was great too. The dumplings here aren't our kind of dumplings- they're made out of bread. I really enjoyed them but it's good to know going in that they're different. We also both ordered beer which was great beer for an insanely good price (a staple in Prague). Both dishes were very good and some of the best food I had had in a long time. The second time I came I ordered the Spätzle and split the sausage and potato chips with friends as an appetizer. Again, the food was very good (although I did prefer the dishes from the first visit to the second visit). Kozlovna U Paukerta is definitely a must in Prague and you will not be disappointed with your decision. Hey, you might even go twice in two days! read more

Good price and nice atmosphere, i would absolut recommend it even though i only gave 4 out of 5 stars 3 hours before the countdown to the new year, i have visited this spacious place! It was crowded but still feels very nice and wasn't that loud as i thought it would be. My svikova and the duck leg each costs 219 czk (~8,40€) and both was very delicious. At first i was really disapponted since the meat looks so small in this big plate, but it was surprisingly pretty filling for this small amount/size. read more

I went to this place because my friend which was here previously told me that their kozel beer is more tasty than in other place since it comes directly from the barrel. I'm not sure if I could taste any difference though.. the dishes which I had was roasted pig knee and ribs. Both was just pretty okay and nothing special. I would give the ribs a thumb up though perhaps. Try the pig knee just for the experience. read more

Holy cow this place rocks! Beer was flowing, food was to die for, and great service, all at reasonable prices! Must go!!!

It was raining and we just wanted something close to our hotel (Eurostars Thalia)...so decided to try out this place. The customer service was outstanding, the waiter's English was excellent. I had the Duck Confit, Kozel Černy (dark beer) and a honey cake for dessert!! Everything was great!!! I would comeback to try more...but we leave tomorrow. read more

Pretty good, I got the beef with traditional sauce, cranberry, whipped cream and dumplings. Wasn't the best traditional Czech dish I've had but wasn't the worst. Stumbled upon this restaurant on our first day in Prague since its right next to the hotel we stayed at (Eurostar Thalia). The beer list was great. Typically, I am not a beer drinker but the waiter recommend Fenix for me and I'm so glad I got it because it was so good with a slice of orange in it! For food, we ordered two appetizers: homemade pork lard spread and the picked camembert-style cheese. Both were excellent choices especially the pork lard spread. Came with a basket of bread. For entrees I went with the Beef shank goulash with bread dumplings and my boyfriend got the pig off special Easter weekend menu. Both of these entrees were excellent choices bc they were large in size and very tasty. We both wanted to try some Czech food on our first night so we were pretty satisfied. We were stuffed - ordering the appetizers didn't help up bc I couldn't finish my entire meal. Service was exceptional- our waiter was so friendly and always checking up on us. New and contemporary restaurant with a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Every dish I tried there was delicious. They serve traditional Czech food with some international touch, like fried anchovies and Wiener schnitzel. The personnel speaks English and always friendly. The good thing is the place is non-smoking, but with a lovely smoking lounge near the bar. read more
