This past year and half has been an excruciating and heart breaking time, I lost my job suddenly for what was the biggest shock of my life while I was the only one working. Kept my head down and started driving Uber/Lyft to immediately keep food on the table while my wife rushed to get the fastest job she could find which was a housekeeper at a hotel. Again the wait began and I received a letter with a court date since the case was at the District attorneys court, now that the investigation had concluded from the Law enforcement side. This was the climax of my stress levels, imagining all those shows you see on TV. Spoke to the law office immediate and they got a hold of the information right away that it was a premature letter sent, that my case was still in review. I was already preparing for the worst, making plans with my wife and family about a possible long trial and all the grief associated with it. And Atty Hankoff and Atty Kraut did all the communication with the DAs office and Law Enforcement as they always had. Today early in the morning. I get a call from these amazing Attys. Your case has been completely rejected by the DAs office. I am eternally grateful and so is my wife and 4 kids to these Gentlemen. Best news of 2020 and thing since sliced bread. I love them to death, but rest assured, I hope that I would never need their amazing services again nor anyone I know. I would not wish what has happened to me upon anyone, even those who wrongfully accused me. "GOD BLESS YOU, MICHAEL KRAUT!!" Getting pulled over after a couple of glasses of wine and being slapped with a DUI for the first time ever was the most TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE in my entire life!! I was so scared, and although I didn't feel drunk, my BAC was over the legal limit, and at that moment I was just - SCREWED - in my mind. Nothing like this had ever happened to me, let alone GOING TO JAIL and being in a cell with other women who were prostitutes, armed robbers, Identity thieves - you name it. No other experience had ever made me feel that low and full of shame. I was now a "criminal". To add insult to injury, the cops treated me like I had just committed an act of terrorism and were LESS THAN NICE, to put it in short. Being someone with no prior criminal record - EVER, an educated person with a good heart and someone always willing to help others in need, it was a HUGE blow to my self worth to be treated like a common criminal, and I now faced the criminal charges of a DUI, so the nightmare continued beyond the jail part, and I knew I was in for months of more terror and stress. I did a LOT of research on the internet and compared various lawyers I'd found. They all seemed to have big promises, but what stood out for me was that Michael Kraut was Harvard Law educated, had AMAZING reviews (I spent a lot of time in awe reading what he had done for others and I was VERY impressed), and the best of all reasons I chose him (and I thank GOD I did!!!) was that he was actually a former D.A. prosecutor for DUI offenses! I think I was in disbelief and he must have felt my silence of disbelief, because he then calmly clarified that it was OVER and that my "NIGHTMARE WAS FINISHED". All I could manage to get out to him amidst my confusion, relief, questions and thank you's before he had to get off the phone was a huge "GOD BLESS YOU!!!" and I swear I could "hear" him smile over the phone as he said "Oh, well thank you!" and politely excused himself to end the call. I was fortunate enough to cross paths with Mr. Kraut as a result of a DUI for which I was arrested. I didn't know where to turn & didn't know I had to retain counsel immediately. (Make sure you retain counsel immediately!) Because he often works discreetly with law enforcement personnel & their family/friends, I was able to obtain his contact info due to the fact that I was engaged to a deputy at the time. Through my then-fiancé's network of partners, I obtained Mr. Kraut's name & contact info. Though my incident took place in San Bernardino County, he still graciously took my case. Mr. Kraut is highly respected & widely known to come to the assistance of law enforcement and their family/friends whenever they themselves get into legal trouble such as this. It's unfortunate some people had less than satisfactory experiences as his clients; I suspect there were other factors at play, but he came through for me 100%. He always knew me by first name, even when I'd call him after hours on his cell phone. I appreciated that. He & his staff were able to successfully rally for the retention of my driving privileges through the DMV, so I never had my license suspended. That was the first victory. It took a long time (over a year since my humiliating arrest) before the entire matter was resolved, but I was able to legally drive the whole time. The incident occurred when I was arrested while driving after having taken legally prescribed pharmaceuticals. The state's test is a simple positive/negative test, so I tested positive for anti-anxiety meds. Mr. Kraut, brilliantly so, recommended I spend an additional $500 to have what's called a "blood split." That is when he requests a portion of the blood drawn on the night in question be submitted to a third-party lab for additional testing, to determine the exact amount present in my system. I'm SO glad he suggested that & SO glad I agreed to it because it proved I only had traces of the drug in my system. He was able to reduce the penalty from a DUI to not only a "wet reckless" but to a "dry reckless" (even better), which wouldn't affect points on my license, insurance rates or worse, jail time. He and his staff fought the DA on my behalf & didn't back down. Even though this was my first offense, I only ended up with a sentence of 1 year's probation & was able to retain my driving privileges. I never even had to step foot in a courtroom; he & his staff took care of everything for me & immediately kept me up to date via email with any activity in my case. As a result of his impeccable work, I'm able to put this shameful chapter of my life behind me & move on, virtually unscathed, as a result of Mr. Kraut & his team's expertise & doggedness. I would recommend his services to ANYONE facing the same dilemma. He is professional, courteous & effective. He knows his stuff. He's sharp & seasoned in the courtroom. If he's good enough to defend police officers & their family/friends, he's sure good enough to defend anyone else. I would disregard any negative reviews because those people may not have been cooperative or diligent in following their cases; as I said, I suspect there were other factors at play that resulted in their dissatisfaction. One night driving home near my place in Beverly Hills I made the mistake of answering a quick text and was pulled over. This tool is an overpriced plea lawyer. Waits til the last minute (i.e. your court date) to actually attempt to defend you. Seeks unorthodox plea agreements in which you must admit guilt in order to receive. Due to the off the wall nature of said plea, the judge rejected the plea and the prosuckution, now armed with a "confession," pursues the case with vigor. Mikey, you never offered me legal advice of any worth and don't return calls, instead having your receptionist "review" discovery with me in your lobby. Granted, you're prolly in Cabo spending our retainers.
