Been going to them for a while. My taxes are cut and dry. Very easy. Notified rates were going up. Not happy but ok. Then they made me fill out a new client form so I asked if someone brought the buisness. They said no. So I asked why. They said the owner was making everyone fill them out. Then I found out why. They wanted to put my credit card on file in case I didn't come and get my taxes when they was done. I could understand if I was going to owe money but I never owe money. Also last year they didn't contact me until June about my paperwork being done or paying them so with all that being said all I can say is bye bye. This firm's service has gone from bad to worse,they totally screwed up my family members taxes from last year.Preparer Carol Ballif was unresponsive to phone calls and incompetent in her preparations which cost family member money in fees.They made the mistake of staying with this firm to finalize a deceased mothers estate.Been nothing but turmoil.Do not make the same mistake. read more

My tax refund from the state of NJ has not been received as of yet. It been over a month. I can't get anyone from this firm to assist me as to why I havent received my refund. My 2021 federal taxes were never filed by this company .. obviously a big mistake.. this has caused me an unbelievable impact on any refunds I may deserve . Even my anchor benefit takes months. Because of this firms mistake I am suffering due to their lack of due diligence and furthmore the lack of professionalism is disgusting. The worst! I should have completed this review when we first dropped his office. The only reason I used them was because they took over the accounts of my old accountant who died. They've overcharged me for years, but I never got around to finding someone else. I believe Kreppel's not a CPA. It started when one of his employees who's done our taxes for a few years informed us he was working for the firm remotely. We sent my taxes and my children's taxes to his home office. After April 15th, he later informed us, he had a dispute with Kreppel and he would file extensions for our 3 returns. Over the next few months I would call kreppel's office to see what was going on. The office unconvincingly informed me they were handling it. Since I didn't have any confidence in his office, I contacted the IRS just to see if the extensions were filed. I also contacted the NJ State Board of Accountancy to file a complaint. There's no board record of Kreppel at that time. I just assumed he was CPA. My return and one daughter's return were getting refunds. My other daughter owed money and Kreppel said he would pay the fine if there was one, for my daughters many month's late filing. The right thing to do since he's responsible for all employee's actions. Well, she was fined and he refused to pay. I didn't think I had to get it in writing, since one has to put your trust in a person who has ALL your family's personal information. When I spoke with him on the phone he got verbally abusive. Just horrifying. Does this IRS fine mean a greater likelihood my daughter's future returns will be audited by the IRS ? With all these complaints about Kreppel, are there IRS red flags when it comes to tax returns filed from his office? Who knows, but why take that chance? Take all these negative Yelp reviews very seriously before you even consider giving your business to Kreppel Tax Advisors. Elliott Kreppel is inept, self-serving and rude. His only priority is taking your money. My husband and I have been clients for several years. He had a stroke recently and caring for him has been very difficult for me. In April I realized that I had to take care of our taxes which had always been my husband's job. I made an appointment with Elliot Kreppel who told me he was very busy and wanted $750 up front before he would even look at our taxes. I asked him why the exorbitant expense and he told me it's because we didn't make an appointment when he left a message on our voicemail! And then he stated that he wanted to be paid up front because he's afraid that since my husband had a stroke, he might forget to pay him when he billed us. I couldn't believe I heard that! Additionally, he told me that there would probably be an additional $500 in charges. I pressed him to understand this angry behavior as we had been good clients for the last few years and always paid our bill on time. So then he started yelling at me and dropping F-bombs! He told me his lawyers are requiring him to take up front payments. So it would seem that his business is in trouble. He threw the envelope with our tax information across the desk back at me and told me pay up $750 or get out. I couldn't believe his behavior. He was red in the face and frankly, irrational. Elliot Kreppel is unprofessional, erratic and uncouthed... no class at all. Save yourself the aggravation and go elsewhere. STOLE MY MONEY AND MAKE YOU WRITE A GOOD REVIEW Elliot told me and my family we would get a discount if we write a good review. This is why his ratings are so good. Not because of the service. The only question he asked was how we plan on paying him. After he got his money, we were rushed out after being told he has other clients. We were supposed to get a direct deposit which he also didn't do, my parents had their checks mailed. Now, I have been waiting for my tax return and come to find out he has entered A WRONG HOME ADDRESS so my checks are LOST IN THE MAIL. Been using Kreppel Tax Advisory Group for a few years now and have been pretty satisfied with the return we have been getting. We started out paying just $49, as seniors to get our taxes done which was a great deal. Last year there was a significant increase to $89 which still isn't bad compared to what we were paying other firms to complete prior. The individual that does the actual taxes is not who you would visit to get them signed, somewhat 2 weeks later, The owner has to sit with you to discuss investment opportunities with those who are 55 and older. Overall, their service is good and fast. WE have been pretty happy with the returns. I would recommend anyone 55 and older to take advantage of the lower cost tax prep they offer. read more

I would not recommend this firm as the owner, Elliott Kreppel, does not review the income tax returns his staff prepares for accuracy! His primary focus is locating potential clients to invest in a low-risk interest fund. As a former employee, when he was asked for guidance on personal income tax related issues, he does not assist, but rather directs employees to consult with a network of tax preparers within his firm to try to obtain answers. While doing my best to prepare income tax returns and do good things for his firm and his clients, like traveling 70 miles one way to a satellite office in Lakewood, NJ to meet with his clients, and working late hours till 11:00 PM some nights, long after he left his office, he did not fulfill his responsibilities as owner of the business. Instead of him performing some basic due diligence and review, he takes employees monies and hires someone else to review their work and perform his responsibilities! read more

I have been using Kreppel Tax Advisory Group for several years to prepare my taxes - Federal an NJ. Last year we moved to Florida and had Kreppel prepare our taxes at the senior price of $49. This year, without any advance notice, the rate went up to $100. According to Lisa, VP of operations a simple Federal tax return costs more if you live in Florida. As far as I know, Federal is Federal and does not change from state to state. Very disappointed. Will never use them again. read more
