When I first began, I had my mom do my taxes with her tax preparer and I did not understand the process of how it was done and her tax preparer would process it wrong at times stating I owed money when I didn't for example. So after that frustration I decided to get help from a friend and they were not completely clear on how to do it and one does not get their highest refund. So then I finally decided to invest in a tax preparer myself last year. I choice H&R black because it was close and I wanted to go on person. I paid a high price only to leave feeling confused about how my taxes was processed. I did not feel comfortable to ask as many questions about what was happening on the screen because when I would, the preparer would quickly answer and then change the subject to ask me questions regarding my personal life. If you have a computer, go that route. It will not only save you money, it will save you time, stress, and clear up miscommunications. You might think, as I once did, that having a rep in the neighborhood might be useful when dealing with your insurance company. That dealing with a person face to face would be more expeditious. But that has not been the case with Modica. When a simple billing problem snowballed, this agency made matters worse rather than better by telling me things were taken care of, when they weren't. It started when I moved. Despite the change of address, renewal notices were coming to the new house while bills were still going to the old house. Late fees were compiling. In the end, to avoid a stain on my credit I had to contact the insurer -- Travelers -- myself to get the issue resolved. Which they did in exactly five minutes. No more middle man.
