My ankle break was treated by a succession of two Orthopaedic doctors and one other Podiatrist, none of whom had the same opinion as to what my treatment should be. I had seen Dr. Coates many times prior to 2010, but, I am sad to say, he was not living in Virginia when my ankle break occurred. After six ankle surgeries by 2 Orthopaedic Doctors and one other Podiatrist, my ankle is no better than it was the day I broke it. How I wish Dr. Coates had been living in Virginia during my ill-fated fall on ice in 2010! I do not think I would be having the problems I have today. Prior to moving out of Virginia, Dr. Coates had treated me over the course of at least 10 years for a range of foot problems, including a horribly painful heel spur, a broken toe, an ingrown toe nail, and a toe nail that was ripped off during a fall. Now, Dr. Coates keeps me on my feet with a well placed cortisone shot in my ankle once a year. Dr. Coates is easily accessible and listens to his patients. He also explains his findings in terms that the average patient can understand. He takes plenty of time during exams and I have never felt rushed. As long as I am living in Virginia and Dr. Coates is practing in Virginia, he is the ONLY podiatrist I will be seeing.

I asked her how long she had been waiting and she said it had been over an hour. I sat there for about 15 minutes and they called me back. The lady nicely asked how much longer she would have to wait and the girl rudely said that she did not know and she would have to wait to be called. The staff is friendly enough but if your office staff is incompetent patients are going to go elsewhere. Most of the time when I email or call, I don't get a response or return phone call. I did not get clear instructions for my surgery and I was rushed out. I waited over on hour for one appointment when I had to bring my daughter with me because I didn't have child care because PWCS has so many holidays. I told them I couldn't wait any longer. They charged me for paperwork. I have to keep calling to get my questions answered and some of the office staff is not in the office and the surgical coordinator does not get back to you.
