Beware -- our experience here has been shocking. My husband has had an overall positive experience…read morewith this office, but BOY has that changed. We recently merged our auto insurance coverage for the first time after we bought a new car, and have had the most awful experience with insurance we've ever had. Maybe this is State Farm to blame, or maybe it's specifically Shannon's staff... either way, we are shocked at what we've experienced in the last few days: Here is a condensed list of the issues we have recently had with this office: - Given misinformation about how insurance can be conducted for military personnel by an agent from this office, which was corrected by a State Farm office in WA. - Got a quote -- ONLY A QUOTE -- during the beginning of the billing cycle in March. Didn't set up my car with my husband's policy through this office until April 1. HOWEVER, I was charged for March. Apparently I was prorated 0.07 percent for this difference -- ZERO POINT ZERO SEVEN PERCENT...basically a dollar a day, which is laughable. Is this not the equivalent of spitting in my face? - I was quoted a reasonable amount for my simple car. I have a clean record (as does my spouse) and graduated from uni. with honors so should be given a relatively decent bill. HOWEVER, our bill came out yesterday and ended up being over $500! FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. For 2 cars driven by 2 drivers with clean records! WTF. We called to investigate, which ended up actually resulting in SEVERAL calls. We were continually told we would be called back. No, State Farm, you're right.. we don't have anything better to do with our time than keep answering your calls. We don't mind that you can't solve our serious problem the first time, not at all. - Eventually got ahold of an agent, who told us the quote went up because of something I needed to contact a consumer reporting agency for. She completely blew it off and did not take responsibility for the fact that we were, technically speaking, DECEIVED. I was told I was paying one amount and ended up paying a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AMOUNT. How is this legal? She gives me a number to call without telling me the exact company name, but the phone number ends up not working. This starts off another chain of calls with State Farm to get the correct number because I don't know the name of the reporting agency they used and therefore can't look it up myself. My husband and I feel this was a really unprofessional way for SF to handle telling us they'd charge us one amount and then actually charging another with NO WARNING at all. - When I finally get the reporting agency's number, I call & they tell me two things: (1) my record is CLEAN and they don't know what it was that made them increase my bill without telling me, other than student loans which are paid up to date and are actually very low compared to the national average in student loan debt, AND (2) that Shannon's SF office could have told me this themselves. This was really weird to hear, because the agent I spoke to told me she couldn't tell me. The consumer reporting agency guy was thankfully very helpful and was thoroughly confused as to why State Farm did what they did. Sooo I call State Farm back again. - I get ahold of the same girl we've been working with, who is clearly now frustrated she's had to talk to me so many times, despite the fact that I'm pretty dang sure it is in no way my fault. I tell her what the consumer reporting agency said, that they have no clue what could have made State Farm increase our bill from the quote we were given. She is kind of exasperated in response. I'm sorry, but I'm not gonna back down and just accept BS like this. She tells me all she can do now is contact the underwriter and ask what happened, but this shouldn't have had to happen in the first place. I'm also not thrilled with the attitude of the staff here.. it is NOT my fault this is happening. I'm sure you, dear review reader, can agree with me that you'd call and behave the same way if this happened to you, right? So why is this staff member acting like I'm a crazy customer, angry for no good reason? Yeah, I'm not sure why either. I was always respectful despite being angry. All I know is my husband and I are done with this office. Update: a month has passed since the above fiasco, and I have heard nothing back from the agent who told me she would contact the underwriter and notify me as to why my quote was so different than my bill and why my total cost was $500. This place is an absolute SCAM. Stay as far away as you can unless you want to be fraudulently stolen from.

You're in Good Hands, until they give you the middle finger…read more Allstate just cancelled my homeowners insurance after 6 weeks of coverage. No phone call, no chance to respond, just a letter in the mail with a refund check for the rest of the year I had already paid for. When I contacted them they said the trees were too close to the house and my foundation was exposed. (the house is built on treated pilings 4' off the ground) When I asked how much clearance I needed they said 200 feet. If I clearcut my property and part of the neighbors I will be in compliance but they already admitted they wouldn't insure me even if I did that. They just want me gone. Now I have 30 days to find new insurance or the bank will come after me for not having insurance on their mortgage. Essentially Allstate signed me up for insurance, took my money, then waited 6 weeks to send one of their minions out to decide my house didn't fit their insurance profile. If you live in the hills around Fairbanks I hear this is happening a lot. I used Allstate representative Dave Mongold. If you are insured by him you may want to have a little chat and find out if it will be revoked in the middle of the night.
