Impossible to miss when driving down the King Georges road with its bright pink sign :)!! Its on the left hand sign on the way to Hurstville and about 50 metres before the entry to the M5 :) I got to an old school gym in beverly hills and one of the hot topic talks is LA donuts, what's your favorite, when's the next visit lol!! When I'm chatting to someone about donuts at LA its always the same response, fluffy and light, not overly sweet, soft, they make the donuts fresh daily. LA DONUTS eat Fresh :D... not like subway lmao !! I'm a bit of a Homer when it comes to food so a favorite is the homer donut also the Apple fritter and the Long Johns & the eclair donut .. tbe sweet tooth shakes haha!! The owner and anyone of the people at the shop have been always super friendly and easy to have a laugh with .. not sure if they laughing about my enjoyement scoffing the donuts down or the amount of times i see they see me come past :D Have to say being a foodie i love my Melbourne visits for anything food but LA Donuts have definately been another addition to putting Sydney on the map contending for the best food in the capital of Aussie mate :)!!

Anyway, I had seen this gluten-free, vegan, cookie monster donut alllll over instagram and I'd been craving it for days - well, more like weeks. I was in the CBD today and knew that my time had come. I found the store and oogled all of the donuts on display. The cookie monster donut was there and it was calling my name. The other donuts looked amazing as well, but to be honest, I needed that cookie monster donut in my life like yesterday. The others just couldn't compete at this stage. I ordered the cookie monster donut so quickly, the guy behind the counter seemed surprised that I didn't have questions or ask for recommendations. But hey, I am just a strong independent woman, and I know what I want. He wrapped up my little monster into a cardboard box and I was on my way, trotting down Pitt Street, dodging cars, to get the instagram photo I'd been dreaming of - my little monster in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge (can you tell I'm not from Sydney?!). I snapped my photos so quickly and then started tearing apart that donut right on the wharf. It was delicious. The consistency is more cake-like than donut-like, which I am guessing is because of the lack of gluten. Either way, if I didn't know it was gluten-free, I wouldn't have guessed. It was amazing. I highly recommend getting yourself a Nutie donut at some point in your life (or your trip to Sydney). I can assure you, that won't be my last Nutie donut.

I asked when the display would be filled and was told as they are made fresh it would be around 10am. I often feel guilty leaving places without a purchase and had come this far so what the hell! I decided on the cinnamon scroll and Nutella dobundt (baked donuts). I envisioned microwaving their staleness away but this never came to be. When I was given my tray it was very heavy and the bottom was warm from the food. Travelling back home gave plenty of time for my mouth to water over the inviting, homely, cinnamon aroma filling my car. Eating with a cuppa and fresh fruit; the scroll was incredibly soft and fluffy with a slightly caramelised base and good filling ratio. The Nutella dobundt was equally as fresh despite not eating it until the afternoon. Didn't indulge on the Nutella. Just the right amount. Cake texture with a dusting of donut sugar. I must return when the store is full. So far I'm impressed.
