Doe's, you were everything I'd hoped you would be…read more I love me some Doe's Eat Place. I have been to locations in Biloxi, Baton Rouge, and Monroe. Hell, I go to Doe's in Monroe every single time I am in Monroe. When I would profess my love for Doe's to my Mississippi friends they would always tell me: "you have to go to the Greenville location. It's the original". I figured they were right but also figured I would never be in Greenville since there are not many things to do there. But 2025 was the year that I finally made it here. We made a special stop on the way to Eureka Springs. It was everything I had hoped and I absolutely loved it. You must know that this is the original location and it is not fancy on the outside or the inside. Parking is mostly on the street and the neighborhood seems a wee bit sketchy. The building looks like an old house from the outside. Needless to say, the kids were skeptical and wondered why their dad drug them here. That continued when we walked in to the kitchen, walked through the other kitchen, and were seated in one of the rooms. One of the kids said: "I feel like I am dining at someone's house". Exactly. This place is famous! All skepticism was washed away when we got our food. A ribeye and fries for me and a fillet and fries for them to share. Both were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and made this Doe's fan grin from ear to ear. It was a great meal I will remember forever. Was it cheap? Definitely not. For two entrees, a beer, and a tea, it was around $200 with a tip. Was it worth it to me? Hell yes. I freakin loved it. Is it worth a drive from New Orleans just to eat here? Probably not. Should you divert a road trip to eat here? Absolutely. By the way, service was exactly as you would expect. Super friendly and we were treated like regulars despite it being our first time. Also, there was a cop working outside so don't be scared.

I dreamt of the Pork Chop we had last year, for the whole year, till I could get back here again & have it again for me Birthday.. and again, it was so freakin Amazeballs. Everything was cooked perfectly. Nailed both pork chops. The Lafitte sauce is so delicious, just get it on everything, that's my advice haha :)... The tuna tartare was also so Amazeballs we had to order one to go. We also ordered the Fettuccine with the Lafitte sauce with chicken to go, ohmygosh hubby & I fought over that next day at brunch! :).. The cheesy grits are a must order. Not your average grits. The grind is a much heartier grind. The quality & texture is superb. And topped with their "Lafitte sauce" AKA crawfish cream sauce ohmygosh. Heavenly :)... Reservations are a must. Beautiful vintage space. Bar area is very nice. Service is great. Southern hospitality at its finest. Very Romantic restaurant. The Casablanca Booth at NOLA, is moi booth. "Play it again Sam" forever & ever. "la Vie en Rose" OuiOui. Highest Recommendations.

Not quite as knowledgeable about the menu as we would like but that's not a dealbreaker. Mike had the Saint Charles shrimp. It was incredible. Those grit cakes were the best I've ever had. The Lafitte sauce is so good. I had the Lafitte pasta with blackened and shrimp. I highly recommend the blackened shrimp. They were top-notch. The fettuccine was cooked perfectly al dente. The sauce has a nice smoky flavor. The house fries were tasty, but could've been a bit hotter. The rolls were nice and warm and served with real butter. Real butter is always a bonus. The homemade ranch with a side salad was really good. I noticed a couple of people mentioned the prices on the menu. This is quality, fresh seafood, it's worth paying a little extra for. Sadly, the server brought the check with without asking if we wanted dessert. I had debated on the King cake bread pudding, but she settled that for me. We would definitely go and do recommend Nola Sidenote, when we walked in the door, we were greeted by a beautiful young lady, with very bright pink hair. She was so friendly and polite, we were a bit disappointed that we did not get her as our server.

Just the right amount of seasoning to feel a little kick in your mouth but smooth and delectable going down. It's too good to stuff myself with meal. A dish like this is made to be enjoyed for one more day. Just imagine, once it sits overnight the seasonings will mesh together even more and...hummm some good eating. Whoever was the chef today; kudos to you for a job well done. This was worth the hard work I put in today at work along with bearing the hot temperatures today. I know there are unbelievers who won't believe that I didn't eat it all in one sitting. Here is another shot of what I'm saving for tomorrow. Okay, I did finish off the fried okra; too good to let stay. Listen up, please, come a little closer, just a little more. I'm going to whisper to select individuals even though I know you will share; lol. I went to this restaurant "BackDraft," and ordered something I "would not" order because I'm not one of those people who has an affinity for them. If they are at a family cookout and my nephew, who is the family chef, cooks them on the grill, I might eat one or two. Okay, wait for it, chargrilled oysters. I know some are "clutching their pearls," repeating "say it's not so". Yes, I'm one of those people. However, when I went into the restaurant, I wasn't really hungry but knew that after a long day I had to put something substantial in my stomach for the evening. So, I had a taste for some soup. I ordered the "Gumbo," and the chef "Shawn" (with his innocent demeanor) happened to be walking towards the front counter, and the front desk staff asked him to describe the Gumbo and how he made it. I was intrigued after hearing how he cooked it, thinking it was just going to be some type of tomato-based soup. So, I ordered a cup. Then I kept looking at the "Jacked-Up Oysters," which Shawn guaranteed that I would love. So, I ordered a half-dozen, thinking that I was wasting my money. I took it to go because again I was tired and wanted to get back to the hotel. Let me tell you, the Gumbo was absolutely tantalizing with just the right amount of spice to let you know you are tasting something special. It was nothing as I had anticipated. Also, for the person who is not a real "oyster person," I ate those oysters like there was no tomorrow; like they were the last oysters on earth or like I stole something. Okay, I would NEVER steal anything; not my thing. Life is worth living to the fullest and experiencing it. Chef Shawn, you did your thing, "sir". I can't wait to come back to try other dishes there while I'm traveling. So, walk, skip, hop, run, jog, drive, bike, take the bus, or if you are in the area, please stop by here and have your taste buds awakened. The staff is super friendly and informative about the menu, and the atmosphere is welcoming, with reasonable prices.

That said, the food was VERY heavy on oily preparation and WAY overpriced across the board. A $7 plate fee if you wanted to share a $45 steak or fish entree. Our server literally did not know that French fries were potatoes. I swear. If you wanted more water, you got a second glass so that before the end of the meal there was zero room on the table. The food was an acid-reflux festival. $17 for a six inch cast iron pan of individual Sysco mushrooms covered in greasey cheese, bacon bits and a few sad jalapeño bits. Aside from the music anyplace would have been better.

She said she'd bring me water and got backed up. I ended up refilling my water at the bar. This is a long review but it has a happy ending, I promise. Her name was Julie. I sat at the Duce next to the window right by the bar. Julie told Me she saw me get my own water. She said she was going to take care of my bill. Surprised that my feedback resulted in this level of recover I asked if the restaurant is taking care of my check or if she was. She said the manager offered a small discount on the salad but she was sorry I had this kind of experience and wanted to make sure I Came back and gave them another chance. She said this was her passion and wants to make sure her guests are taken care of. I insisted I pay and explained I was there on business so I wasn't paying for it myself. After several time trying, I just said "thank you and I wished everyone cared as much." That was by far the most sincere service recovery I ever encountered and it was at the cost of the associate. Manager never game to the table. I don't recall seeing anyone that fit that description either. This is a mid to upper tier price point "nice" establishment so expectations should reflect that. Julie owned it and took one for the team. I felt horrible she felt she needed to do that. I hope she doesn't do this often. Experience not so good but I experienced worse. Food was okay to good. Julie was outstanding. I don't carry cash but I gave her everything I had. The only response I need to hear that would make me change my mind is if Julie was refunded for my check. I remember when Small Time Hot Dogs was a small hot dog cart that came to town (Grenada) every week. They hop around from town to town in central MS, posting their weekly schedule on their social media pages. Better catch them when in your town! I've since moved to Desoto county and can't catch them when we go back to Grenada occasionally, but I check every time. My favorite is just a regular dog with mustard, ketchup, and relish. Their hot dogs are very meaty and flavorful. I will occasionally get a southern dog. It is a must try, but a lot of meat going on!! They also have BBQ nachos that are amazing. Their tamales are the best around. Po boys are big and tasty. I'm not a lemonade fan, but I have heard they are the best around also. Oh, don't forget to get a funnel cake!

Normally when I go out for a hot dog (or in my cases two...because I am "that girl"..) it's either a really great one or it just plain sucks. In the case of Small Time Hot Dogs - it was square in the middle and thus I am conflicted. Scene: Dinner and a Movie at the Museum on 5/18. Hot dogs were being taken from the museum to about 10 minutes away so they had a bit of a drive because we thought it was going to rain and decided to just not stay there. *Taking this into account when writing this review.* Ordered: One order of plain fries Two Dogs: New York and Milwaukee with Extra mustard, kraut, add ketchup, onions and cheese to the Milwaukee New York Dog - Hot dog quality was very good. The hot dog was meaty, delicious, and plump without being hard. The quality of the meat is on point. - The bun was a standard bun. It's what you want in a food truck hot dog. My bun was super soggilicious but that is because of the kraut + drive home. - Fixings: Kraut was nearly flavorless. Mustard was nearly flavorless. Red onions were fine. Ketchup nearly non-existent. Overall: Decent dog, don't be a moron like me and travel with it because it won't travel well. It was loosely thrown together which makes for a bad doggy. When you put a hot dog together there is a structure you need to follow. This wasn't it. Milwaukee Dog - Hot dog quality was very good. The hot dog was meaty, delicious, and plump without being hard. The quality of the meat is on point. - The bun was a standard bun. It's what you want in a food truck hot dog. My bun was not a super sog but it didn't seem to hold the fixings well. - Fixings: Kraut was nearly flavorless. Mustard was nearly flavorless. Red onions were fine. Ketchup nearly non-existent. Cheese was melty. Overall: Not a good dog. Maybe I overdid it on the cheese or onions? Who knows. But for all of the elements on the dog it had no flavor - just the hot dog. Structure bad, that was about all. Fries: Good, solid french fries. Crinkle cut and delicious. Not much salt on them which makes me happy! Price: $15.00 - not bad! Consensus: Small Time Hot Dogs needs to work on some things. I'll give them another shot next time they are around because a good, solid hot dog is super hard to find. They need to work on a good structure for their dog (bun, mustard on the bottom along the center of the bun, ketchup on the sides of the dog, relish and kraut on the top of the mustard, then dog, then a drizzle of cheese (or none) and then send it on it's way. So overall... I will give them a second shot because the hot dog itself was very tasty. If you see this truck, support it and go buy some dogs. It's hard to do a food truck down here and it's even harder to find a hot dog truck down here. Support your local food truck!
