For the record, I've never posted a Yelp review before. Krista is just too good and memorable for me not to promote her. My wife and I were new to this whole process and required significant handholding from start to finish. In this highly competitive market, I can honestly say we would have been lost without her. Buying a house in the SF bay area is never easy, whether you have little money and so few choices, or you have a lot, and therefore want the best, and again have few choices. There is severe competition at all levels. It is an emotionally fraught experience. In Krista you will have a calm authority to guide you skillfully around your pitfalls. She will be there all through the process, and even after you move in. My husband and I cannot endorse her more enthusiastically. We were empty nesters moving from the tech-obsessed silicon-valley peninsula to a more diverse environment in Berkeley. We had time, but wanted a house we could grow old into. So we wanted a lot of the house at the street level---not easy to find in the hills. And we wanted good views of the bay. Coming from the super-expensive real estate market where a million and a half will get you a 1100 sq ft hovel, I went crazy in the Berkeley market. I could not believe I could buy a 4-bedroom plus basement house with character and views for about a million. Krista steered me clear of many properties. She urged me to look for a long time, to not be impatient. She told me that the market here will not go from affordable to impossible in a few weeks as it had on the peninsula all around us. She asked me to hold out for the best, and to look a lot to see what Berkeley hills can offer in terms of "best." We saw the house of our dreams (and more) the first day, but were too unsure about making the move to put an offer down. It was sold. Nothing we saw after that came close. And we saw a lot. Krista kept an eye on that house we had loved. The deal fell through, and Krista was on it instantly. We saw the house again, and made a high offer. After that, we were on a plane to Italy for a prescheduled holiday. Then the news kept coming. The deal had fallen through because there were major foundation issues that gave rise to suspicion of an -as-yet-undiscovered slide zone underneath the house. Oh boy, we had hours of telephone conversations. Krista supervised a house inspection and new bugs reports and electrical inspection, all in our absence. She gave us many references to the best of local geo-tech and structural engineers as well as contractors. We did a geo-tech investigation, a soils report, got contractor's bids on the foundation. She kept working with us and with the listing agents through weeks of worry and anxiety. We removed contingencies carefully, one by one, under Krista's guidance. Krista coaxed the sellers to be patient when reports came back late. She negotiated hard on our behalf to lower the price of the house to accommodate cost of a new foundation and all the hassles and worries. During all this she was just calm and supportive and upbeat.
