I am from the West Chester area and shopped around, but I wanted to find a "vibe" with someone that I trusted to take beautiful photographs of my family. When I met Bev in her home studio, surrounded by the photographs of other families, I felt that her style of photography captured exactly what I was looking for, and after talking to her I was sure that she was the one to do the job. Now, I have a large framed family photograph over my fireplace, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It took some coordinating (make sure you ask her for advice of what clothes/colors to wear), and we went through a lot of poses (as many as my kids would stand). After it was over, Bev patiently went through the photos with us on a large projector and we took our time narrowing down the choices to the shots we wanted to keep. Through the whole process, Bev and Jessica kept in contact with us. And now, we have a framed portrait that is all I could have ever wanted -- the kids, smiling! Me, without a bad hair day! -- I honestly couldn't recommend her more highly, and I will, to everyone I know. We wanted to have it up before Thanksgiving, and here it is with time to spare. We decided it was time to have pictures taken to celebrate our anniversary and create new memories. I was nervous about calling a photographer and explaining my wanting to take "wedding pictures" for us minus the wedding. Setting up the appointment was easy and Jessica was great to work with. When we met with Bev she immediately made me feel at ease, she was familiar with our requested location and showed us the best places to take pictures. She even timed the appointment for between 4 & 6 PM to get the perfect lighting. It was a truly magical day. Jessica reached out to let us know the pictures had been posted for us to view on-line and that we could come to their studio to take a closer look. Which we did, three times! I am very picky and there just were so many beautiful pictures that it was really hard narrowing it down. The memory book Bev created is my favorite thing we did by far. We went to Longwood, while I'd been there before I didn't know how well it would photograph at night. I also had only about 2 weeks to get a photographer. Thankfully Gretchen was there to save us all! She offered a call to clarify about the plan and recommend locations to propose at for better photos as well. This proved to be super helpful considering both my friend's now fiance and I knew nothing about proposals. On the day of, she stayed in constant contact for the surprise photos and charged in the moment the proposal began. The couple received about 30 photos (granted they were at night with very little lighting) but she said that usually couples receive 50+ photos on sessions w good lighting.

He discussed with the couple and was happy to work with their plans and what they did and didn't want, and very thoughtful about the photography options with great suggestions. He was a super nice guy as well. The day of the event he was professional, very flexible in the face of lots of cooks in the kitchen, clearly knew what he was doing, and really nice to work with. He knew how to compose shots and make them look great. But most important, the pictures came out wonderful! Finally, his fee was completely reasonable and appropriate to the occasion (unlike other photographers we contacted who said they had a minimum wedding fee whether or not it was a large, standard wedding event). Our photographs are absolutely beautiful, and were done almost exactly three months after our wedding, which seems very reasonable for the amount of work. Alicia really is an artist, and did a fantastic job capturing the unique aspects of our venue. Photographs of the stairwell leading down to our reception are gorgeous, and portraits she took on the roof of the venue are amazing. The thing that I really liked about working with Alicia was that she didn't take over the wedding. In fact, after the formal portraits were done, I barely noticed her or her assistant for the rest of the evening. When we got our pictures, it was surprising to see how much she captured. (I should add that it was important to me to feel as comfortable as possible, and I'm usually shy around cameras, so this was extra-appreciated.) The candids she got of our parents and guests at the reception are great, especially the ones of my mom. To address some of the feedback on this site (an a couple of others), yes, Alicia may take a few days to get back to you, especially long before your wedding. She's a single mom of a young child, and works a non-traditional schedule. We did have a couple of "did you hear from Alicia?" moments months out from the wedding, but as it got closer, she gave us plenty of attention without being obtrusive. There was a minor communication issue the day of the wedding, but it stemmed from being an hour late getting out of the salon. Unlike the other reviewer here, it wasn't my bridal party that was late, and it certainly wasn't Alicia, who showed up right on time - it was me! We were all a little flustered, but it turned out fine, and our "first look" photos from Elfreth's Alley in Old City are some of my favorites. If you're looking for a real artist and beautiful photographs, and a photographer who won't steal the show at your wedding, I highly recommend Alicia. (A note on the "Accepts Credit Cards" answer below - she does on her website and for weddings, but our engagement session was outside a museum, so she asked for cash or a check for that, which was completely reasonable.)

We saw some…read morenegative reviews re: her turnaround time and punctuality, but were willing to meet her and give her the benefit of the doubt, based upon the quality of photos and the fact that on her blog, she talked about some things she's going through and what seemed like a genuine commitment to improving the operations side of her business. We made an in-person appointment and drove to New Castle, DE from Philadelphia (where we live). She did not show up, nor did she answer the phone when I called her to see what the issue was, nor did she call me or email me afterward. When I reached out via email, she said she had me on her calendar for a week later - we agreed to schedule a phone meeting for the next day (her idea on the timing). She asked for my phone number, which I gave. She did not call. I called her about 15 minutes into what should have been our appointment - no answer, no email back, no contact whatsoever. I wrote her an email expressing (kindly) our disappointment and my hope that she can fix whatever is ailing her business, since her talent is so clear. I didn't expect a reply, but I got one, and it was surprising and completely unprofessional - no apology from her - just a note that she had unfortunately already booked my date and thanks for the interest. Seemed like a "you can't fire me, I quit" sort of moment. Super disappointing and I would definitely not recommend her at all.
