So we wanted to check out the new Wawa gas station that finally came to Kentucky. I ordered the beefsteak bowl and my husband got the chicken sandwich. The food came pretty quickly and it was pretty damn good for gas station food. But that's what Wawa is known for, their damn good food. I would totally get more if ever in the late night mood for better than other fast food options. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. Pretty good for 1 am service. We will definitely be back in the future.

The cashier was counting cigarette packs and I stood there about 3 minutes waiting on him to finish. It was $7.99 for the tiny bottle of Nyquil, but I needed it so I got it anyway. The cashier rang it up at almost $11. I said that was wrong, the price said $7.99. He mumbled something I couldn't understand and just looked at me. I motioned to walk back to the aisle with me, and he did, and I showed him the price. He mumbled some more. I told him to just give me the right price and I'd be good. We went back to the register--I expected him to credit me a couple of bucks. He reached me back my $10 and took the Nyquil and walked away. I stood there a minute, then motioned to the Nyquil. He mumbled something else that was obviously negative, something about "you wanted a refund." I said no, I just wanted a credit of a couple of bucks to get the advertised price. He said whatever it rings up to IS the price. I left and bought a bigger bottle of Nyquil at the Thorton's for less money, and had a much nicer cashier. It's not the buck or two... it's the attitude that drove me away. If your employees aren't empowered to make purchases right, you must not trust them very much, and if you don't trust them, you shouldn't have them working for you.

My biggest complaint is that the mens room were a disaster which didn't match the vibe of the rest of the place. Sometimes when you walk into a gas station you can kinda tell by the rest of the place of the bathroom facilities will be gross or not. This one did not put off that vibe so we were surprised. The gas was a cheap as I have found even using Kroger Points, and the food was most excellent. I do not know of any other small country store who has an ex executive chef behind the counter. Walking into Rhetts was like stepping back in time. I do not know when I will back in the area of Rhetts, but rest assured, when I am we will stop in.
